DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

It may come down to the last week against Aston Villa. Win and you stay in.
Honestly, I think if we get 4 more points we are safe. So if we can draw against Burnley and win against Norwich, who we could effectively send down, I think we'll be OK. Villa can't score in a brothel right now, I think they have scored 2 since lockdown ended, and Bournemouth have got 1 point since we've all come back. This is what happens. They give us hope. And we all know, it's not the rejection that kills us, it's the hope.

So the meeting happened and went pretty much as I suspected it would:
Supervisor: "Steve, we have a position that's open and needs to be filled."
Me: (to myself) "Really? I hadn't noticed." Such a gift for stating the obvious.
Supervisor: "And I can't just hand you the job, but you should apply for it." He then goes on to tell me why they hired the two guys with years of experience.

Because he's been real nice to me and all, he really has despite me complaining, I opened up and told him I had an offer from the post office, but that it's not final yet and I can still say no. He was actually really cool about it. He proceeded to tell me that if he were in my shoes he'd take the job. I told him I'd thin about it and the job here and make a decision. And that's where we left off. So a good meeting.

Take the 1st job offer you get, if you get a better job offer, then take that one... I sure wish someone had told me that a few years ago.

I'm leaning towards the post office right now, but we'll see.

Morning guys. Hopefully everyone is typing with all 8 fingers this morning and you had a good weekend.

(counts all my fingers) Yep, got all of mine. :thumbsup2

It's the generally perceived value of the tea ($900,000 in todays money) with a 100,000 "non delivery fee" to round it up to a million. We then charged you 5% compounded for, er, 244 years.
I know Chief said that he would send a check, but then we'd have to add on the 75 cents that the bank charges us for paying in checks.
Bit I guess that's not a deal breaker.

I thought the Mayor of Boston during the bicentennial, I'm wanting to say Kevin White, presented a check to the Queen for the value of the tea, with interest...but I could be wrong. I have reached the 50 club, so the memory isn't what it once was. 😁

Good luck with the decision making. Just do what's best for you.

Thanks. I was able to chat with a carrier this weekend, who's also a temp, and he was able to answer all of my questions. Still don't know what I'm going to do, but I do have answers now.

Morning boys.
I shouldn't be up. I have a day off today and start my cycle of midnight shifts tomorrow night. Just can't seem to get much sleep these days. Sucks.

You're going to have a rough midnight shift if you can't get some sleep now.

:scared:

Good for you!

Thanks.

Right?!

What he said.
If he tells you he's clearing house and as soon as he does, he'll hire you, but only if you commit... just nod and say "Yup!"
And then if the Post job comes through, take it and don't look back. You might be able to do both for a bit? I mean if you start off with only a day here and there?

I was actually up front about the position at the post office, and he told me he'd take it if he were in my shoes. Made me feel better. Still don't know what I'm going to do.

It's good to have options. Good luck on the job hunt and testing.

Going from not having any options to having option is a nice change. Now, I don't have it yet, but from the conversation we had I'm sure that he wants to give it to me....but that's just speculation on my part.

As for the hobby, I've got tennis, pickleball, and my old playstation connected, so I'm good. Anymore will sound like work.

Sounds like you've got a good plan in place.

There is always a way of running a competition and ensuring that you are the only person that could get the job, are they willing to do that?

Sam Smith pubs are a little bit strange so I'll pass.

???

As we said back when I was a teen and the legal drinking age was as well. Skip the mountains, head straight for the Busch!

though to be perfectly honest....Busch isn't great. Stroh's, Genessee Cream Ale and an occasional Hamm's were more my style.

Happens all the time in the Ivory Tower world.

If I were in your shoes, I would. Considering how long the current job has strung you along and not been more honorable than pond scum and given you never know if they'll keep stringing you along or just let you go, take something that while initially might be worse has potential for being much better vs take what's better now and has potential for being much worse. Also, with the post office, if you find a medical coding job that isn't full time either, they might be able to coexist.

Personally I like the mountains and the bush.

Oops, did I mis-spell that?

That could possibly work if I could find a doctor's office that would be willing to let me do coding part-time, it would certainly bring in more money

Not sure I would've done the same but I applaud your honesty.
Hopefully that doesn't result in him passing you over (again) and the post office not coming through.

Will admit, I'm pretty worried about it.
Hoping tonight I can get a decent night's sleep.
:lmao:
The choice was inside with a complaining wife, or outside in the oven. I chose outside.

Morning Chaps.

Pretty much all of the mothership in Denmark are off for the next 3 weeks (they still run a factory style holiday system) so my days are a bit quieter. Also, my mum is back on the kids schedule, so that's awesome, it gives the littl'uns a change of scenery and my Mum some good time with them.

In the market for a new Cleaner, as our one has gone back to Poland. Let hope some of the Hawaiian Tropic models are looking for some part time work. It would be even better if it was one of the women.

Watched Hamilton on Disney+ last night, we really enjoyed it. We were supposed to see it a couple of months ago in the West End, but you know, 2020 and all that.

What if I had 9 before the weekend? Is 8 still good?
You have 9 fingers? Are you from 'Bama?
Do you give a High 6?

::yes:: , yeah they haven't been of the highest moral order up till now. Hopefully Steve can catch a break.

Right, off for a very English breakfast of toast and Marmalade. Have a great day fellas.

Morning, Gents! Man was I in a bad mood when I got home yesterday. Oh nothing bad happened at work, but I've been thinking about this job situation and what I was going to do. Don't worry, I won't continue to beat this dead horse too much longer. Sometimes, ok, most of the time my wife can be brutally honest and I just need to vent/complain/get it off my chest....so you guys are it. 😁 I'm just so fed up with this. I finally get a chance to get a good government job, but it'll be only when they need me....not an ideal situation. I read a bunch of bad reviews yesterday on indeed.com and glassdoor.com, and that got me thinking, and because of those reviews, I'm now leaning towards my current job because of the guaranteed hours. I can continue to look for work while I'm employed and leave when I find one. And since he already knows about my medical coding (when I applied to the job the first time, I sent him the wrong resume (oops), I won't be so honest about it when he brings it up. I'll just tell him it takes years to complete. Well, I talked to the wife yesterday after I got home, and after she noticed my bad mood, and said, "This isn't a job I want to work the rest of my life, but I feel like I'm going to get stuck." Hoping for a little sympathy, she responded with, "But IT'S A JOB!" You can guess how well that went over with me. I'm not stupid and will probably apply to it, but I did want SOME sympathy from the wife. It was a very quiet evening last night after that conversation. Best to keep my mouth shut than say anything. Oh well, today's another day. Have a good day, Gents!

Yeah, I can be honest to a fault at times, and it has gotten me into trouble. Rest assured, I won't be making that mistake again. He does want me to apply for the position, even knowing he knows. They have two new guys in the warehouse and will need someone who knows what's going on after the current lead leaves the department. So we'll see.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: That's awesome!

My MiL has offered have our DD sleep over at her place this coming Friday, and I'm like, "Wanna her now?!"

If I see any wondering around the streets looking for work, I'll contact ya...maybe. 😁

I've always wondered how that musical would do in the West End, considering the story line.

Hear that.

It's got a 2 year waiting list, so I don't think they are on their uppers just yet mate ;)
Its a good musical, interesting take on Hamilton. Honestly, you're probably right, 49 out of 50 people in the UK wouldn't have a Scooby who Hamilton was. They'd all know Washington, maybe another 10 would know Jefferson, and maybe half of the people who knew who Jefferson was would also know Madison.

If you meant the whole Britain lost/Bad King thing, again we have 62 countries that celebrate independence from us, so we kind of roll with that as part of our history, and are frankly amazed that we got away with it for so long out of about 8 square miles.
