Resort Change by Disney

Hi everyone...

so what’s the current speculation.. do we think people with cash stays at moderates and values in late July will be upgraded ? Or cancelled? What’s the rumor lol

What do you mean exactly.. do you think they will pick and choose who gets axes. That just seems wrong lol
It sounds like some sources are indicating that they may have to cancel some people. No information on how that decision will be made. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that there are enough cancellations organically that no one has to be cancelled.

I think there’s going to be a lot of running parts but this rumor or no mods or values opening is strange to me I really in my gut believe that The skyliner resorts will open they will open 2 values and one Mod. Also I think they will offer a very nice deal for next year If they have to cancel

when you say sources what source? I know travel agents and Disney cast members are saying we won’t be cancelled And upgraded so I’m just trying to figure out where the skepticism is coming from! Thank you for replying :)

We are booked at AKL Jambo July 7-14. Since the resort has DVC rooms do you think we will be ok and not be moved?

If you are in a hotel room and not a DVC villa, as of right now those are not slated to be open on your dates.

Even some DVC owners booked on points are concerned that they may shift to Kidani and not open then lodge at all other than Mara for breakfast

I think we will know more on June 22nd

Much of the information is coming through reps at Disney with the caveat that everything is subject to change,

From my understanding, sounds like in the next few days, there could be information that comes out and it may or may not be changes from last week.

But, as of today, no opening date for WDW resorts has been given, and because DVC had to open, those are the only ones where reservations should stay intact.

If Disney decides they will not be opening resorts right away, then they will be making the decision to cancel or move, And, right now, the only moves would be DVC or Ft, Wilderness,

Now, since things may change with some new information that could be coming out in a few days, and FL entering Phase 2, maybe plans will be different.

One thing is pretty consistent,...its pretty unlikely that every guest with a reservation at any onsite WDW resort, for July and into August may not get into a park every day of the trip.

But my question now is isn’t it more likely Disney will upgrade me than cancel on me?? I mean that’s what travel agents have been told, and yes it’s subject to change but I highly doubt they’re going to just cancel on all cash stays during July that aren’t DVC.

Your reservation is before park opening so I think those may be different than ones when parks are open.

Yes, some TAs were told those at values and moderate resorts whose resorts aren’t open once the park open we’re slated to be moved, with no choice, to a DVC. That was the plan last week, except someone else has posted that some may get canceled and not moved. They heard that whatever is used to determine that isn’t something a guest could do to give themselves a better chance to not get canceled.

No date was given as to when AKL is being opened....it was left off the list to CMs, so there is speculation they will only open Kidani, even for DVC. On June 22nd, we will know what it true.

However, DVC having rooms in Jambo doesn’t open up the rest of AKL, so unless Disney opens it before they open parks, I don’t think you will just be moved. but possibly be given the same option that was offered today for people with mid June reservations...move dates to a DVC or FT. Wilderness beginning July 11th and pay the difference.

Now, there has been information that one plan is WDW will open the deluxe resorts first as they have DVC which makes them the obvious choice Will that be on July 11th? No idea.

Personally, I think there are waaaaaayy more onsite reservations than WDW can accommodate in July - so a good chance of getting canceled. If enough folks decide to cancel on their own, or WDW decides to open more rooms, you have a chance of getting moved. But nobody really knows for sure until WDW starts doing one or the other. And it seems they are moving in date-order, first dealing with June and early July before getting to late July, so there may be a better idea next week.

But they are allowing some June reservations to rebook for July-December. If they had a lot more reservations for July, why would they offer that?

I mean, I have no idea what they're doing but they seem to be making strange moves lately.

I saw Riviera 1-bd villas available today too for my dates in July.
Whatever hold was put on Riviera for mid-July to mid-Aug seems to have been released as I’m also seeing availability as well now on the DVC site. Timing wise, I have to wonder if it did have something to do with the NBA, before they ultimately settled on CSR.

I also heard that it was Coronado Springs. In the past if there was a problem, such as a complaint about noise or crowds related to Pop Warner or tour groups, they moved guests to a studio or 1 bedroom at Saratoga. It has lots of rooms and generally availability, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that again.

I was cancelled for 1 to 12 July at YC, my TA was cancelled 2 July at Pop. I can’t yet find anyone to provide an explanation ( other than people here saying ‘well the parks are closed’😂) as to why my reservation was cancelled. I hope that you are upgraded but keep checking MDE, in case your reservation just vanishes.

Did you ever receive the email from Disney though saying they would honor your reservations and let you have first picks at dining and stuff once they opened, it just wondering if ur being treated different it trip and TA’s are before things reopen

My last question, why do so many people on this thread seem to doubt the rumor from travel agents and supervisors that we will be moved? I know things change A LOT but why are we doubting this so much? Lol
