DS is deciding between some top engineering schools right now and he NEVER liked legos or any of the other building type toys. I think Knex was the other one. We donated many boxes of these toys that he would get for presents. He had zero interest in them. DH, also an engineer. also had zero interest in helping him with those type of things. Of course DS was a weird child and pretty much didn't like any toys. lol He was and IS the hardest kid to buy for. He never liked the thomas trains either, but we did get him the geotrax trains. It was an easy gift for a few years with buying new expansion pieces for birthday or Christmas. He only played with those if we played with him though, he would never just go play on his own. DH did like playing with those and building new track designs. lol
I may need to pick your brain on engineering programs later this year although we really want dd to stay in state (since we have a prepaid college plan). I'm thinking we'll just throw in GA Tech (step-mom's parents are in Atlanta) and NC State (closer than VA Tech). I'd love dd to look at University of Texas at Austin, but really don't want her that far away. Michigan was on our radar (both my sister and dad went there) but I don't see dd in Ann Arbor.

Considering buying a mask on Etsy. We aren't peaking in VA for seven more weeks so it will get good use.

Is that now our peak date? I haven't checked in a while, last I saw was May 3. Ugh.

ETA: holy crapola I just saw that the University of Washington says we're predicted for May 20- the latest in the country. I wonder why? I don't know enough about the numbers behind those sort of calculations. Have we maybe had some marginal success in flattening the curve and stretching it out longer?

Phew, finally caught up on pages. Sorry to have missed the game console discussion as I am a giant nerd who has been leaning very heavily on my PS4 and Final Fantasy XIV to cope. I have a stack of games on backlog between that, my Switch, and Steam library. I always complained about never having enough time for gaming anymore. I wish I could go back to those times.

I am under quarantine orders due to exposure and a persistent cough. Have been since 3/25. My 29 year old coworker is hospitalized with “It” as we’ve taken to calling it. He’s younger than me and was just promoted to our team, an absolute sweetheart of a guy. I cried a lot. Fortunately my therapist has been available through FaceTime and we have gone back to weekly appointments. My anxiety and depression would be a whole lot worse if not for her. All I hear outside on my busy street are sirens once in a while, it’s eerie as hell.

Certain posters are not helping and I admit to having to use Ignore. Tbh no one cares about what happens to this city until terrorist attacks give them an excuse to wrap themselves in the flag. I’m doing my best to help keep it running. We are not healthcare workers but provide vital services and information. Being support staff higher up the food chain and tasked with explaining the constant policy changes from the maze of other city agencies is a lot. But our frontline staff are soldiers right now, and rising to the occasion. Makes me very proud to have trained some of them. Don’t ever doubt the strength of New Yorkers.

well...I currently have more UR points in my account than I'd ever thought possible with my lackadasical skills..... and I'm not even thrilled right now. I look at that number and feel sad. I don't know if I'm a weirdo,or others are like me when looking at their accounts....It's going to be even larger once I finish all my cancellations. I know I could cash them out if I needed it asap, and that part is nice, but I don't want to do that. They represented so much more than cash to me. I'm hoping they will again soon, too. Ok I'll quit whining. I will now consciously turn my focus to being grateful for the many good things I have right now.

I’m more worried about touching our steel mailbox than the mail itself since it lives on steel for 3 days
my 'new normal'.... once a day I go grab the mail without touching anything else like doorknobs etc. I immediately toss out all unimportant stuff, open the important things (on the floor near door, toss all excess, and wash hands thoroughly. It's like a mental exercise now for me....

We have a ton of UR points as well. I have a very difficult time cashing them out, but I do like the fact that my UR account acts as a second savings account - especially now.

I have the SUB from my CSP and CFU. I was saving up the points to fly business class to Europe, at least one way. But I’m glad to have a flexible currency for the same “break glass in case of” reason.

Since I am still under 5/24 I was looking at adding a hotel card, heavily leaning towards World of Hyatt even though I stay mostly Marriott just because of how much better their reward program looks (and their response to all this) but now...I just don’t know if a new travel card is a good idea. And I feel like I may have missed the boat on some of these great offers now that the economy is quickly going south. :(

I think ours said it would credit by end of month. But we still need to decide what to do with it. I prefer the refund to bank. DH said to leave it on account. But she gets financial aid so I don’t want them to use it against her calculations next year. I bet they will use it either way. But hopeful that if they don’t see it they will forget about it. 🤣
We are going refund all the way.

I don't know how to multi quote so I'll just ask....DH and I are working on a 750 piece puzzle,it's been weeks but I'm not a big puzzle person...what's the puzzle rules? Are we supposed to use the pic on the box to put it together? Or just piece it together by the shapes?

Not a good person to ask. DS was hard headed in his applications. lol I told all 3 of mine I would only pay for 5 applications. At approx $100 a pop (between application, test scores if needed and CSS profile) I thought $500 was enough. DS only wanted to apply to 2 and I think you know which 2 he picked. I also made him apply to DD2s school. Plus our in state school, which was a free application. So he only applied to 4 schools. Good news is he got into all 4. lol I wanted him to apply to Ga Tech until I did their cost estimate. They do not meet full financial need so didn't push that one. Unfortunately financial aid plays a big part in our decision.

I don't know either. And I also don't know why we are expected to have as many deaths as Michigan which is a hot mess:(

As @pillow pointed out a few days ago when I was shocked our stay at home order lasted until 6/10, it's likely because our peak is soooooo far away.

I enjoyed it, good racing movie. I could have done without the romance part of it but that's because I prefer my sports movies to just be sports movies or it not be in your face at least. Like Miracle, Field of Dreams, the Mighty Ducks trilogy and Rush. I also hadn't seen it and since it's from 1990 didn't fit in my 80's movies so I fit it in today.

Also, it was much better than Yesterday which I watched on Wednesday. Enjoyable but I think I had higher hopes of it being better than it was.
Totally agree about romance in sports movies. Almost always bad. Made me think of Hoosiers with Gene Hackman kissing Barbara Hershey. Did not fit the story at all. Just tossed in there.

Five seems reasonable and it seems like your DS knows what he wants:)

I think I just enjoyed Yesterday because it was centered around the Beatles music.

As I stated earlier DH is an engineer and we will just say he makes puzzles no fun. lol OMG he is obsessive about how the pieces get sorted and how we are only allowed to work on one of his sorts at a time. I am an engineer also, but our brains do not work the same way! lol But looking at the pic is definitely part of the strategy for us. We had a Wicked puzzle once where probably half the pieces were solid black. That was NO fun. We ended up putting that thing back in the box before it was finished.

I'm partial to Hyatt, but Marriott has such a huge footprint. You get great value when transferring UR's to Hyatt so that's always an option if you want to stay at a Hyatt. However, the value is crummy when transferring UR's to Marriott, so I like to have a separate stash of Marriott points at my disposal. Are you able to do business cards?
