Thanks! How early do the ticket booths open? Or could I go to guest relations in Disney springs the night before?

Tried from home again this morning. Had app loaded but not open. Button would not activate for me until about 30
seconds in and only after I closed the app completely and re-opened it. I opened the app 5 seconds before 6, toggled back and forth between find out more and join boarding groups. I'm thinking I didn't give it time to actual activate. Do we need to give it a few seconds to light up or should it be red the second we get to the join page, or did I open the app too soon, better to wait until the clock strikes 7? I would've still been able to join a group, but my number would've been really high I think. Our schedule needs an early morning ride!

I’ve practiced doing this enough times now and my results are slightly different almost every time I try. A couple of times I’ve refreshed back and forth two or three times through “Find out more” and not gotten the red button, but then I try “my status” and that button is active.

From my own experience and reading this thread my conclusion is that no method works better than another every single time and that there is an element of chance involved in whether you get a single digit BG or one in the 50’s or above.

I don't know exactly when they open (I'm sure others do), but I'd recommend going to GR at Disney Springs the night before if you can - that will leave you with a clear head / agenda on your RotR morning and you can focus on the task at hand. :-)

We’re making our first attempt tomorrow too - staying at Riviera. We’re in a bit of a weird spot for tomorrow. Two months ago when we made our fastpasses and daily park plans, we obviously did not know or consider boarding groups playing into this. We only have one park-opening day planned for DHS. Tomorrow’s an Animal Kingdom day, but first FP not until almost 10 (was supposed to be a start slow morning - that’s out the window now), and our FOP FP is at 12:45. So we’re in a situation where we’re actually kind of hoping for one of the last regular BGs, so we can come back later in the day. If we got one of the lowest #s that would be good (although obviously difficult to put any stock in), but otherwise we’re stuck in no man’s land. Also seriously sucks that Skyliner’s not running that early.
I'm going for it tomorrow as well, hoping that Monday will be a better day than the weekend crowds. I plan on being at the bus for 5:45. I'd prefer a late BG but I'll we all get what we get. I don't want to get up this early again, so fingers crossed. My phone hasn't been opening the App very quickly, and I'm worried about that for sure. Good luck, may the force be with you!

Apologies if this has been asked and answered. Once my party joins a boarding group, do they have to all return to ride at the same time? Thanks!
Good question. I’d like to know the answer to this, too.
It works just like a fp where each individual has to tap in to ride with a MB or park ticket, so you don't have to go on together

Tickets booth open about an hour before official park opening time. DS guest relations and ticket center are open until 11pm

BG5! Launched at 6:55:56. Guy next to me was refreshing and got 4, Women on other side got 55 seconds later.

SINGLE DIGITS, YA’LL!!!

Eta - thank you so much to everyone who posted with experiences, and special thanks to superstar mods @rteetz @yulilin3!
Congrats! Am I reading this correctly that it opened 4 minutes earlier than usual (approx 6:56 vs 7:00)?

When you arrive at the park, are there signs or cast members that indicate which security line is for bags vs no-bags? I assume there are signs but just preparing for it to be very busy on President's Day weekend and will have a backpack with us. Thanks

If Im staying off site and bought tickets through the app, do I need to do anything before lining up at the park entrance? Do I need to visit guest relations to get a physical park ticket or anything?
if you purchased Canadian discount tickets you would need to visit Guest Relatiobs for sure.

I don’t believe this is what OP is saying. That’s when they opened their app but there are no reports that BG’s opened before 7am today. Don’t want to unnecessarily open that can of worms.

yes there are signs.

Yeah, that is what I have found too from tracking here - there isn't "one right" way to do it

What is best is to have multiple people in your group trying different methods with the hops that one of them works quick than the others

At home here, I tried this morning by opening the app around 6:30 and leaving it open. At 7:00 I clicked Find Out More and the Join Boarding Group button was red. On Moto 5+ Android. WiFi, but I'm at home, sitting next to the router, so that info is kinda useless here.

An earlier poster said that they made sure the settings in their MDE app were set to "stay signed in," but I cannot find that choice anywhere in my MDE app. Can someone advise where to find this? When I was at DHS in December, my app signed itself out and I had to use my password to sign back in, which didn't work out. Didn't matter, as my sister got us the BG, but I'd like to make sure that the app won't sign me out again if at all possible. Thanks if anyone knows how to do this on the Android MDE app. If it can be done.

Signs and security CM directing. Sometimes the no bag lines are longer than the bag lines but all in all you should go through within 5 minutes at the most

Just back from WDW to Kansas City (Home of the future Super Bowl champions). Thank you to everyone here and to the keepers of the Chart. Our Hollywood Studios day was 1/30 which you already know was a rough day for Rise. We were through bag check by 6:40, had 6 people on phones all on my account trying with wifi off. Our traveling group was 10 people. What we didn't know was that two of those folks decided not to get up and get to the park that morning. When we got the message that they weren't in the park and not eligible for a BG we took them off and kept going thanks to info from you guys thinking we could add them later. We got BG 67. Then we found out they really weren't in the park. I'd glad we didn't waste any time trying to figure out why they didn't show up. After a long day and some wall sitting on Grand Avenue in the afternoon waiting for it to come back up and bananas, chips, and water in the que we finally got to ride late in the afternoon. Worth it! We all had so much fun! Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

yes there are signs.
Gotcha! Definitely don’t want to confuse the two

So we got screwed by Disney Transportation. Skyliner wasn’t running till 8, of course, so for us the only real choice was the bus (staying at Riviera). We got to the bus stop about 6:10-6:15. There were others already waiting. Bus came at 6:53. Didn’t get to the park until afterthrough tapstiles about 7:20, got backup group 117.
Really frustrating. Went back to the desk at one point, they were no help.

Sadly even people on property have been saying ride share is the best way to get to DHS, if you can’t walk. :/

Would love to know why the first group has slowly dropped from starting at 10-13 down to now 2.
I'm guessing that has to do with ratcheting down the number of guaranteed groups. Less guaranteed groups, less recovery the next day.
