I just compiled my 2019 referral and bank bonus list for tax purposes and I am dreading entering that into Turbo Tax
I still don't know how I'm supposed to calculate support links..... I've done quite a few with CIP for friends....

I need some help... So we have only stayed at AOA and POP and for this upcoming trip the new offer does not include preferred rooms at POP and we have a preferred pool res. Looks like we can upgrade to Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside (Garden View) for $30 more than what we already committed to, or French Quarter (Pool View) for $275 more. I moved our POP res to POFQ but I am still not sure what one is better. Anyone stayed at either or both and have any suggestions? So far just booked POFQ because only one bus stop and looks more compact. We have a split stay, last three days will be at AOA Nemo suite so we'll get our theme fix so why the decision to try something else.
I stayed at POFQ once and loved it. Haven’t stayed at POR. For me location is a big factor. Smaller resort and only one bus stop like you mentioned. We have DVC, but if I were to go again and need a room ( non DVC) I would definitely stay POFQ. We were lucky enough to stay there when my DD was in the DCP and we had a great discount.

My DH won't even entertain the idea :(

I make twice as much as DH so luckily I'm not dependent on him for income verification but I did included his income on one recent occasion because it was really important for me to be approved and I was a bit nervous. My DH hates to travel and he is credit adverse. I'm sure he also thinks I will "nag" him to go somewhere if I have more points, so it's probably his way of slowing my roll lol. I would love the relationship you have worked out, I should look further into trying to bribe him, he does love free (as long as it's not travel).

Yes, so important. I am using the Sleep Cycle app, it's interesting to me and I think does help just as an fyi .
I bribed DH this year with an anniversary trip with business class flights. But now, I'm working on a SW CP and we have about 200k combined AA miles, 70K United, 180k UR and 420k MR. He doesn't see a need for more right now.

We prefer POFQ it is smaller, my sister just stayed there last month and loved it...

With everything going on it may make sense to wait a bit, if you are actually using the URs for hotels, flights etc.

I would for sure pick POFQ. Dh and I absolutely love it there. It’s close to being tied as our favorite resort (behind yacht club). It’s very small, the atmosphere is quaint, and you can always walk over to POR if you want to.

Moreover, (and this is more directed to LuckyMamaInDE and CyndiLouWho) I have found using Universal GCs to be much MUCH more of a pain than Disney GCs. I've used them to pay off rooms and room charges at RPR, PBH, and HRH, and each time, there was a problem with one of the cards that took a while to sort out. I've also used them for food and merchandise in the parks, and frequently encountered CMs who don't know how to use them properly. YMMV of course, and I do keep using them, but be aware of the potential headaches for the ~10%-ish savings.
I just got back from UO. I didn't use gift cards for the room but used them for meals, snacks, parking, etc. The only place I had a problem was Bubba Gump--something about them being the only restaurant that's third-party so they are on a different system. I also had one gift card that wouldn't swipe so RPR had to manually type in the number to cover my parking. All in all I would say it was a non-issue.
It IS a pain to use multiple Universal GC to pay off the room, though I do not let that stop me. In the past I would go when the front desk was not busy. 2018 Thanksgiving I had 3 club rooms at RPR and Giant Eagle only sells $100 GC, so I made several trips to the front desk, sometimes late at night, to use them. Last trip however, they charged the entire stay to my CC at checkin, which is different and I was not prepared. So I had to go back the next day with my GC, have them credit the CC charges.

I have never had issues using them at parks or stores to pay charges.

Pofq is small vs riverside. If you aren’t going to be at the resort much I’d save the money and stay at riverside. If the bus line is long you can always walk between the two resorts. We did that last time we stayed at pofq. 2 buses showed up for riverside and none for pofq so we just took the bus for riverside and walked.

Just popping in to update on my chase BJs rebate sage where BJs split the charge so the $25 rebate didn't post on 2 of my cards. It took a bit but I was successful.

Here is the message after they researched:
...the offer was to earn $25.00 statement credit for making a charge with BJ's Wholesale in the amount of $150.00 or more. The offer was valid for only one charge from the given merchant. I am pleased to inform you that I have added 2,500 points on both your cards which is equivalent to $25.00. You can check this adjustment online at chase.com or on your next billing statements.

Data point on Fees after upgrading a card. My Marriott card was the original $85 version. I was charged the fee on 6/1. I upgraded to the $95 card on 8/12 and I got $63 AF refunded. I was just charged the new $95 AF on 1/1.
When did you open the card and pay the first $85?

Mine went something like opened card 12/25/17 - upgraded 12/18 got 2018's 35k free night and refunded $95 (yes -didn't quite get that but took it, billed 6/2019 for $95. Got 2019's free night 12/25/2019. Expecting bill 6/2020.

Edit: oh and forgot I got 50K points for taking the upgrade. Love Chase and my points!

I only had to use two to pay for parking. I did at around 10 PM and it took 5-10 minutes but that was because one of the cards wouldn't swipe so they had to key it in. They apparently have to find out the balance on every card then charge it. It does seem inefficient. The main issue IMO would be the wait. I too went late at night so I didn't have too wait. But RPR had very long lines when we checked in around 7 AM and when we went to pick up our keys around 4 PM. I will say that was a huge turn off. I'm currently reading a book by Horst Schulze (Ritz Carlton) and that's a big no-no in high end hospitality and set a poor tone.

ETA: And both waitresses at Bubba Gump told me how hard it was for them to run Universal gift cards, but again, they said they were the only restaurant with that issue.

Bubba Gump is Landry's I think. too bad you didn't have the $20% off card for them, or maybe that's what you had? Do you belong to the landry's select club where you pay $25 and get $25 plus $25 for your birthday, etc? I'll be using mine next week.

Yes--it was so useful. We got to Bubba Gump on 12/31 around 7PM and the wait was probably a few hours. Got seated right away. Used my $25 reward that night. Then went back the next night and used my birthday reward (my birthday is in November but I said it was in December when I signed up). Seated immediately again. The card is worth its weight in gold:) The second night when my gift card wouldn't work I ended up using CSR. It was only $35 for dinner before tip so not a huge deal.

Having stayed at both Riverside and French Quarter, I prefer French Quarter. It’s a nice small resort - even the furthest building is no more than a 7-10 minute walk to the bus stop. However, it looks like you would be paying $245 more to stay there over Riverside. If that’s the case, I would save some money and stay at Riverside.

Thanks all! I moved the POP res to POR at like 4AM then second guessed myself several times around being that POR had like four room types open under the offer but POFQ just had the Pool View room type and thought it might run out while thinking about it so changed it again to POFQ. Then justified the difference with well I saved $300 on buying gift cards to date... DD7 is bummed now since she heard DW and I talking about room types and asked if we were still staying at POP... DOH! She does not know yet about the AOA Nemo room.

Our first two trips were AOA LM rooms, and after long days at the parks the walk was painful, mostly after just standing in line waiting for a bus then standing on the bus just took out what little we had left. We have decided its worth a bit more (Actually POP Preferred has been cheaper than AOA LM!) to stay somewhere that the walk is not bad. I see they have multiple stops ect, do the buses fill up fast? We'll be there first week of June. Is it a long walk to the dinning area from the average room? I have to grab a morning pop to wake up before going to the bus each day so that kinda defeats the multiple stops unless I go out while DW/DD get ready...

Try an independent jeweler. I got my ring done in-house. I did leave it with them for a few days, but they didn't send it anywhere.
I agree. I would be willing to leave my ring but not to have it sent out. JMO

Pofq is small no more than a 5-7 min walk to quick service from the room. We have had garden view most of the time. Bus stop is one stop and was never full for us. Leaving the parks it always had a short line. Really depends on your timing for the buses. We haven’t stayed there since we started dvc though in 2015. If we had to do a stay outside dvc we would do pofq again.

I think you did well to switch. Pop is pushing guests onto the Skyliner and running only one bus per hour to HS & Epcot, which is going to be a disaster if you want to take your family on RotR.
