I called the Disney tickets line with this question a few months ago, and they said yes, it is possible, as long as you're going to a more expensive ticket. The rep actually offered to do the conversion right then, over the phone, so I had to explain that I didn't have the tickets yet.

Did you ask about the ticket upgrade thinking you’ll get it through Delta Vacations? Wanted to report back that I had no luck upgrading the Delta WDW tickets from flex to dated. Flex to dated wasn’t the issue - CM told me I could as well (as long as the value was more). It was tickets from Delta going from flex to dated that was the issue it seems. The second person I called said it can only be done at a ticket office.

I linked the tickets in MDE and can upgrade them there. I just can’t go to dated, so they’ll stay flex. I won’t be saving as much, but I’ll use my stash of discounted Disney GCs.

Also wanted to report back about getting the tickets from Delta. I had totally forgotten that they send out the tickets 60 days before for onsite stays. I’m at 4 months out. I remembered this as I was on hold on my HUCA call. But I lucked out with someone who was willing to make things work for me. 3 calls on her end to the ticket office. With me stressing to her that I need it linked, FP opens at 7 am, I don’t want to be disadvantaged, etc, etc. She got the ticket office to push it through. Said email would come within a week, but I got it in 15 min.

For our trip at the end of January, I’m thinking on a non EMH day we can casually roll up at 7am without much stress and get a reasonable late morning BG. Assuming things don’t change much, that’s my plan. What’s your strategy?
We will be at DLR on Christmas (RotR isn't supposed to be open yet), WDW for Marathon weekend in second week of January, and DLR again for DS's birthday a week after RotR opens there on weekend of 1/24.

For WDW in early January, I'll be keeping an eye on things, but tentative plan would be to get up early one morning and try to be there by 6 or 7 depending on the alleged park opening time (right now it says 9). Assuming they do the same thing at DLR with the virtual queue, we'll be getting up *way* earlier. I'm assuming more like 5 am for that. But I'll be watching the DLR thread for the week before to see what's necessary. Like you, I'll be avoiding EMH days like the plague unless they change how they do things on the next one.

Actually, our first day at DHS is actually scheduled to be an EMH day and I’m looking forward to it, Haha. I don’t really mind how it worked out for EMHs so I anticipate that being fine for us. Plus they’ll probably tweak the process and improve it. We don’t really want a super early BG anyways. Later will work fine for us 😊

Our second day is a non-EMH day. (I just sorta didn’t mention EMHs since it’s different and I didn’t want to freak people out haha)

I’ve been eating brats but we cook them on the grill until the cheese is coming out (cheese brats). I think the only cheese that’s risky that I like would be queso and I very rarely eat it. I wouldn’t listen to friends or family when it comes to something this serious. The doctor can tell me what to eat or what not to eat
I have a vegan queso recipe. If you want it let me know and I'll send it to you. It's yummy (cashew-based) and super easy to make!

For anybody who is attempting to ride RotR anytime soon - this thread on the DIS might be helpful to keep an eye on:
https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...oups-are-full-tracking.3781557/#post-61320029
Also, I've read every single comment in the big RotR opening week thread (so has @PolyRob) so if you have any specific questions on how to best tackle it...ask away! PolyRob has actually rode it a couple times, I'm purely living it vicariously through him and the thread. I know nothing about the ride though, avoiding spoilers personally since we'll be there in 7ish weeks!
I'll be there in 5 weeks and I won't ride anything I'm not familiar with. So I watched a youtube video. No spoilers for you, but there were some things oddly familiar.

Apologize in advance if this has been mentioned...but just noticed my SW account now has a MyTravel Funds tab...which will keep track of funds as long as you used your RR number
I was all excited for 30 seconds, thinking I could do away with the post-it notes on the bulletin board next to my computer. But for some reason they don't have my 2 outstanding travel funds listed. when I put in all the info they show up. My RR# and my KTN are always on my ressies.

For the pop ups, I'm using Safari and just have this thread as a "pinned tab" and I noticed it's happening all the time now (it wasn't for a while). Because the tab is pinned, though, it just opens up another tab that I close. It doesn't mess with the actual tab. Hope this helps someone.

My stockpile of HH points is slowly building, I’ve been thinking about the Doubletree by Universal for our many visits. Any thoughts on it? How is the walk to the parks? The bridge is operational now. I am Hilton Diamond so we would get breakfast which would be nice.

It's been a crazy couple weeks for me. Started my new job, DH has been traveling for his job, snow days for the kids, and my inlaws are away (they help a lot with the kids on snow days and when DH and I have work conflicts). On top of that scheduling stress, my grandma is in her last days (she's 95, it's very emotional and sad, but part of life), so I went back to my hometown this past weekend to visit. I am really looking forward to having Christmas week off. I need it!

On an exciting note, DH just bought us Cirque Du Soleil tickets for the OPENING NIGHT of the new show at Disney! That will *really* make that surprise (for the kids) weekend trip amazing! 😁

Tomorrow a.m. I need to book SW flights for our Aug trip to WA. Or, at least, book the first leg! We have some Amex credit GCs to cover these flights and hopefully I'll have the companion pass AND plenty of points to book return flights when they are released.

I know there were some tips for booking SW flights on release day. Can someone post the link? Please and thank you!

I’ve told DH our Orlando dates for February I don’t know how many times and of course now he’s like “I might have to work out of town that week.” Why would you have to work out of town if you have down on your calendar that we’re on vacation? “I forgot to put it on there.” :sad2: And of course, Sheraton wants a $50 change fee now even though they let me change through the resort itself for free before. I emailed the same lady that changed it for me a couple months ago but she said the resort itself isnt allowed to do that anymore. At least I only booked the return flight on SW. He’s supposed to have a definite answer for me by next week so I can get everything taken care of.

I might be the only other person here with this card! :teeth: I really miss the BOGO feature it had, that was incredible.

Are you going to see Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland? It is a sight that lives in my visions to this day. We did a GoT-based day tour while we were in Belfast and that was fun.

The Country Inn & Suites near airports are really handy for overnight layovers and I've used points that way too. At this point I'm just accumulating them until I can find nice places to use them; Radisson's footprint is not big in the places I'm looking at for the near future. That Radisson Blu Belfast looks nice!

I think you are right and you might be the only one besides me with the card. Yes that second night free benefit was amazing!

We are definitely planning to see Giant’s Causeway and the Dark Hedges. I’ve actually got one night booked at the Dark Hedges Hotel so I can avoid the crowds and take pictures at unreasonable hours.

We just let the points accumulate and use them for stays in Europe.

Out of sheer curiousity - what would you (and everyone else) say SHOULD be the winner? I always stay Bonvoy when I travel, maybe I should be switching it up?

We’ll definitely not Marriott. Granted, I do stay at Marriott properties a lot as they have a large footprint. I also get a numbBut their loyalty program is not anywhere near as good as Hyatt. I don’t even stay at Hyatt as often as I stay at Marriott but I know their loyalty program is way better. Hilton’s is better for that matter. I’ve had better customer service and status perks with Hilton than with Marriott. But to answer the question, Hyatt. It is fairly well known among travel hackers the Hyatt currently has the best hotel loyalty program.

It was Delta, Chase, and Marriott love fest.
What a coincidence that it's also the big 3 that gets pushed on, I mean, they write about frequently. Go figure readers voted them as the best (if there was really a vote, seemed like a lot of awards were editorial vs reader choices. haven't read thoroughly to see the weight readers votes actually got in the polls).

I'm all for reading with an open mind and I'll take reliable sources where I can find them, but this just screams "shill". Like barely veiled advertising. I'm not saying they may be wrong, but I read some of the "winners" with an open mouth. I think the best new CC was the nail in the coffin. While it's not a bad card for what it is, I can't believe it's the Best out of everything launched or refreshed in the last year.

Is Marriott the devil? No. But "Best of the Best"? Not currently. (said as a nearly 20 year Rewards member household with 18 nights butt-in-bed in 2019, and more nights booked in 2020.)

My sentiments exactly.

I like Amazon’s 2-day shipping a lot more than Target’s “2-day shipping”. FedEx said the package would come today and now it’s not coming until Thursday apparently. But of course we’ll be in Orlando that day. At least amazon gives you a credit if it’s late. I doubt target does that.

ETA: apparently I just needed to chat with target. They are giving me a $30 e gift card for it being a day late.

Its not sitting in CO is it?? My FedEx package was supposed to be here Sunday, then it was bumped to Wed now it was bumped to Thur by midnight... Wondering if they are having a massive storm for the past four days??

Do you know the exact name?

For Chrome I used AdBlock on my laptop but its getting a bit too much commercial and allowing ads from people who pay them...

Opera Touch.

Can't bring myself to use that. :rotfl2:

@punkin I also get the spam page. Only from DIS, never from another site. Very frustrating.

I am going to try the mobile ad block suggestions above and see how it goes.

I know there were some tips for booking SW flights on release day. Can someone post the link? Please and thank you!

@SouthFayetteFan is the SW Pro, its about time for his SW-eve reminder post.... *hint* *hint*
