I think I need to try this soon. My kids all love pickles, cream cheese and ham.

Oh my goodness, I don’t know if it’s new but it’s new to me - the Philadelphia jalapeño cream cheese - it’s so good and spicy. I love it!! Been putting it on our sandwiches 😍
Make them for Christmas! Pickle wraps are delicious. They’re just kind of a pain. I don’t like jalapeños so I wouldn’t like that cream cheese

I think I will 😁 You don’t like the taste or the spice? I made stuffed jalapeños for thanksgiving, as an earlier in the day snack. I grew up in south Texas eating raw jalapeños. You can’t get food too spicy for me 😂

Hello all! I'm so behind with catching up on all the posts. I just got back from my two week trip to Japan. I just have to say, it's so beautiful there. I'm definitely planning to go back.
I stayed in the Conrad Tokyo and Osaka and it was by far the best hotel experience I've ever had. I highly recommend both places. I used Hilton points and FN cert for Tokyo and then used the Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts deal (3rd night free) for the Osaka portion. Both times I got upgraded to the executive floor with amazing views. I have gold status through Amex Platinum.
I more info and link to photos on Reddit if anyone is interested. Feel free to ask questions too if you're planning a trip to Japan soon.

My husband loves stuffed jalpenos! I like them if they are soft, I love the flavor, and the hotter the food the better for me, but I don't like them crunchy. That cream cheese, he would love, just gotta figure out what to do with it.

Holy crap! Can I teach your children? I get NOTHING at the HS level. I take that back, one boy I had 4 year and his mom gave me $25 gc to homegoods every year (probably since I teach Architecture and Interior Design). Outside of that, I get MAYBE 1 or 2 $5 giftcards to starbucks a year is what I get.

Gifting my own kid's teachers I only gifted in elementary school. And I gifted wine, with a joke that I knew they needed it to deal w/ my kids!
Honestly my dd goes to am AMAZING school and her teachers are really, really good (I am sure you are as well). I have heard that teachers aren't well compensated in Florida (I think her school pays more than public schools) and I want them to know how much I appreciate all that they do to engage the students. Four of her teachers this year have PhDs and the other 2 have Master's degrees. Her college advisor is working on her PhD. These are very bright individuals that could have successful careers outside of education, so I am grateful they chose to teach. It feels like a small token. I feel badly that parents don't show you appreciation, especially since you have mentioned that you spend out of your pocket for your classroom -- you obviously care deeply about teaching and it shows. Also I grew up in a family of educators (my sister is a teacher in a very low income area) and I have the utmost respect and appreciation for those that choose this field. Thank you for passing your love of Architecture and Interior Design on to the younger generation .

For those of you who used AA miles to book Swolphin, how far in advance did you make your reservation? I’m looking at next Fall and rates are 27k/night. It looks like some of you got half that rate so I’m hoping my dates will drop just curious as to how close in you booked.

Dh and I went to target today to use our 20% off coupon along with the $300 gc we bought yesterday. We mainly went for groceries and household items and that’s the most I’ve ever spent on groceries! It wasn’t $300 but it was a lot. We did get things like cat food which was already 20% off so we got that plus the coupon took 20%. This might be dumb but I think the best deal we got was on grapes. They were .99/lb which is the cheapest I’ve ever seen plus a target circle offer of 50% off and our 20% off coupon. I got 4 lbs of grapes for like $1.50!

I use Chewy and Target for cat and dog food. If I watch the prices and those bonus $5 for buying 2, and use the 10% coupon, I think I come out ahead over the year. I have to get the urinary tract food at Chewy because in store at Target, PetSmart and Petco, they are hit or miss plus always more expensive. And, the largest dry food bag I buy is about 16 or at least under 20 pounds because even though I keep it sealed in a separate pet food container, I prefer not to have a huge bag that is open 'forever', so that costs extra. The cans for the cats waffle in price all over the place. It's ridiculous.

I booked in Apr or MSY for mid Aug. That’s typically been a slow time so there was availability. Didn’t end up being slow at all (thanks SWGE preview lol). I tried to book two months ago using AA miles for swolphin mid Dec and nothing has come up. Resorts are very booked up all over though. So if your dates are a slower time, you may have more time to wait it out.

Wow, I already have the 10 Elite Nights credited to my Marriott account from my meeting! This has got to be a record, it's been 4 calendar days from picking up the phone to get quotes.

I'm at 49 nights now (I need 50 for Plat status), and I found out that there's something called a Marriott Birthday Elite Night. I called about that last week, and the rep opened a case for it so I'm hoping I'll see that night post soon. Looking at my activity, it looks like 10 nights were paid nights this year.

OMG! Did anyone see the TPG award winners? This has gotta be a case of #fakenews

How does Bonblah get best hotel loyalty program, best new credit card, best transferrable points and best elite status???

That's seriously unbelievable. What a joke. Who actually goes to those stupid awards anyways? I remember when he was doing a raffle to win tickets -- all I could think is "why would anyone want to go?". One lucky winner got to meet TPG -- who cares? Maybe some do, but I have much better things to do with my time (like Disney+).

We buy Iams indoor cat food. We always buy the big bag. I think it’s like 22 lbs or something like that. Normally we would get it at Walmart but obviously it made sense to get it from Target this time

I'm very frustrated. Every time I go to the Disboards on chrome on my android phone, I get redirected to some weird "you've won" website. And it pretty much just happens when I come to this site. Does anyone know how to get rid of this horror?

Tonight's musings about the Club Carlson card. My arrival night for our trip to Ireland opened up on Radisson today and I was able to secure one night at the Radisson Blu Belfast for 44,000 points. I love my Club Carlson card. For the $75 AF I get 40,000 points each card anniversary year. I let them pile up until I decide to go to London, Scotland or Ireland/Northern Ireland and use them for free hotel stays. $75 each year has returned thousands now in value of accommodations over the years. The room I booked today would have cost $260 for the night. That's not a bad return for my $75. This card is rarely mentioned here, but I think it is a good solid sock drawer card for anyone who goes to Europe once in a while. It's never crossed my mind to redeem points for a Radisson/Club Carlson hotel in the US. However, we do stay at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson the night before a Disney Cruise in Port Canaveral. The rooms usually run less than 40,000 points so it can also be used as a $75 for points to use pre cruise night cards for frequent DCL guests.
I might be the only other person here with this card! :teeth: I really miss the BOGO feature it had, that was incredible.

Are you going to see Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland? It is a sight that lives in my visions to this day. We did a GoT-based day tour while we were in Belfast and that was fun.

The Country Inn & Suites near airports are really handy for overnight layovers and I've used points that way too. At this point I'm just accumulating them until I can find nice places to use them; Radisson's footprint is not big in the places I'm looking at for the near future. That Radisson Blu Belfast looks nice!

Paging @wendow or any other Texas experts.

Looks like circumstances are going to put me in Texas July 4th weekend - so thinking of making it a long weekend for DW and I. Specifically I have be in Houston on July 6th, but am open to options in other areas.

Looking for a nice hotel in South East Texas, perhaps even resort style hotel preferably with access to hiking and evening entertainment. We can forgo the hiking if in an area where there is lots to see and do. I have been to San Antonio before but otherwise my Texas knowledge is non-existent.

Other option is New Orleans for the weekend and drive to Houston. Any and all opinions welcome.

Out of sheer curiousity - what would you (and everyone else) say SHOULD be the winner? I always stay Bonvoy when I travel, maybe I should be switching it up?

Great question- I really like the WoH credit card and the WoH (Hyatt) program and I'm slowly shifting as much as I can from Bonvoy to Hyatt. Not going to lie, I still enjoy a Ritz on occasion but overall I think either WoH or Hilton are probably equal to or better than Bonvoy.

As for elite status-that's a joke- both Globalist and Diamond (Hyatt and Hilton) are really good, whereas Titanium is ...eh....

That's just my opinion though-I think we all know TPG is in Marriott's back pocket and this did nothing to dispel that belief.

It was Delta, Chase, and Marriott love fest.
What a coincidence that it's also the big 3 that gets pushed on, I mean, they write about frequently. Go figure readers voted them as the best (if there was really a vote, seemed like a lot of awards were editorial vs reader choices. haven't read thoroughly to see the weight readers votes actually got in the polls).

I'm all for reading with an open mind and I'll take reliable sources where I can find them, but this just screams "shill". Like barely veiled advertising. I'm not saying they may be wrong, but I read some of the "winners" with an open mouth. I think the best new CC was the nail in the coffin. While it's not a bad card for what it is, I can't believe it's the Best out of everything launched or refreshed in the last year.

Is Marriott the devil? No. But "Best of the Best"? Not currently. (said as a nearly 20 year Rewards member household with 18 nights butt-in-bed in 2019, and more nights booked in 2020.)
