DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Happy Halloween guys!

Gonna be below 30 degrees here tonight and gonna suck for the kids trick-or-treating. Hope all the kids enjoy a safe Halloween!
Really? That's cold for your neck of the woods. Surprisingly it's supposed to be a somewhat pleasant 10C/50F here tonight. I say pleasant in relation to the 3-4 C we had here over the last couple days.

I'm still sore how the one year they looked like a lock to win the World Series and... they stopped the season.
Yes, and if I am not mistaken, that was the year the Montreal Expos were at the top of the National League and the Toronto Blue Jays were at the top of the American League. There may well have been a Montreal-Toronto World Series that year. I always figured our friends to the south could not handle that, so they went on strike instead. :p

Supposed to be stormy here, so we'll see if Halloween is a washout. It would be a shame to be stuck with all of these chocolate bars.

Oh. Very sick. Horribly. So sick I can barely write this down. Extremely. Totally. Yep. Completely.
So sick that I'm not even sure if anyone from work reads this.
But yep. Suuuuuuper sick.

<cough>

I will most likely miraculously be healed by... 3pm.
But...

very sick.

Our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Thought never crossed any Canadian's mind.

See, I've been doing this backwards.
I actually am sick but foolishly I've been going in to work all week anyway.
Clearly, my priorities need a bit of intense reevaluation.

Care to describe the general nature of that there 3pm miracle cure?

Afternoon Dads! Hope all is well. Woke up this morning to rain and warm temps. The warms temps would be nice for trick-o-treating, but the rain? Eh! My DD gets scared fairly easily, so she might not even go out. On the work front, just got the unofficial word that my contract has been extended through the end of the year, and to further cement this, I've been granted access to company email, so it must be official...unofficially speaking. And word came down that there's mandatory overtime of at least an hour a day and 4 hours on Saturdays. While I'm hearing a lot of grumblings, I'm thinking to myself, "Great! I need the money."
Well, that's two of us with extensions on our D.O.E.s
May we both be granted farther reprieves.
(Better to linger on The Row, the actually Dance the Jig)

We're also looking at storms, but if we end up with surplus sweets, I'll be shipping them up to you for "disposal".

I've lost over fifty pounds in the last thirteen-ish months, and there ain't no way I can allow that much sugar to remain in the house.

It would be terrible. I can’t think of a single thing you would do with them. 🤔
Too bad... I could have mailed half of the surplus to you otherwise. ;)

We made it to Thursday. I'm taking tomorrow off. It's freezing cold right now, so I'm taking tomorrow off in. I'll be hair spraying and farting in the back yard to increase the global warming for some heat.

Live? We always start watching about 15-25 minutes after it starts so we can skip the commercials.

I don't have that type of tv cable package. Just streaming.

I watched all the ones on Amazon Prime, but yeah, a lot are missing. I refuse to do CBS all access to get the others because a) I've heard it sucks and b) still has commercials. I'm watching the current season live...first time in many years since this is the first year we don't have Bible study on Wednesday night.

Agree. All the other network channel apps are free, and I'm not paying for CBS

Yes, DD had an after party for the prom and us parents did a Survivor theme with games for it. It was fun.
This season has been just OK for me. I thought Boston Rob and Sandra would be more interesting, but it's fallen pretty flat. I did enjoy last night's episode, even though I am generally not a fan or the twists and advantages, but at least it made for interesting tribal.

Didn't like either of them. The one where Rob one it and Russell left early, if they had been on different tribes, the outcome would have been different.

I guess Jeff is a bit sore about the fact the Washington Nationals used to be the Montreal Expos (they left Montreal and move to Washington and became the Nationals).

Not as sure as Bryce Harper.

Top O the Mornin Dads! and Happy Halloween! DW headed out of town to be with DD on her 25th birthday - hate that she is not closer to home. Gonna be below 30 degrees here tonight and gonna suck for the kids trick-or-treating. Hope all the kids enjoy a safe Halloween!

Cold enough to snow here as well. I doubt we will get many trick or treaters tonight. Safe travels to DW.

Congrats on the extension.

It would be better with Reese's Peanut butter cups. Unless you're doing keto, then that would suck.

Well... I get sick days with work, not sure if you do.
I have a few in the bank... um... over 1,000hours.
Care to describe the general nature of that there 3pm miracle cure?
Try a coffee enema and let me know how it goes.

Happy Friday All!

Warm, windy and rainy up here in the north but suppose to clear and cool as the day goes on. Great weather.

Off to Sherbrooke Quebec tomorrow for a volleyball tournament. Should get back early Monday morning, just in time to fly to Winnipeg on Tuesday. Lots of travel this time of the year which also happens to be our busiest time of the year.

Have a good one all.

Morning folks,
Dang it. Forgot to put the garbage/recycling out last night. Trucks already gone by. Oh, well.
Final tally was 120 kids last night. I thought it would be much less since it was snowing lightly and pretty cold. But, nope. Apparently not.

TGIF!
Halloween was pretty nice here last night, fairly warm and clear. We got a few more kids than usual, about 80 I think.
Lucky today's weather didn't arrive sooner - it's warm but very windy with rain showers.

I hope you all have a good weekend. DW is working all weekend, so I have no big plans, other than taking down the Halloween decorations.

And we made it to Friday. It's up to 44 degrees here now. Dreadfully cold.

Try a coffee enema and let me know how it goes.

That just sounds so much fun on a Friday night.

We had 0. But, apparently, there was a conspiracy to keep the lights turned off so that some people didn't have to open the door to get cold.

There are few times I wish we had socialized medicine, but today is one of those days.
As you may know, I fell in preparing my house for hurricane Dorian and cracked ribs.
I'm on the phone with my insurance company now trying to figure out why they didn't pay my ambulance bill and they're telling me it's out of network. Out of network for an ambulance?????

I guess they expect me to call around to find an ambulance that's COVERED before they transport me to the ER.

Doc, are you in Florida? If so, you might want to talk to the insurance company ombudsman or the insurance commissioner. I'm pretty sure Florida has a balanced billing law similar to California's where basically all emergency care is treated as in-network, for all the reasons you described.

We also has zero folks knocking on our door last night.
Rain seems to be a better deterrent to young'ens than snow.

Not answering the door all might did give me a chance to do a bit of reflection. About a year ago it became clearly apparent that I was just too dang fat and ugly. Now ugly, can't be fixed, but the other part of that equation did offer possibilities. It's been just about a year since I started trying to actually do something about it and here's the result thus far (and I apologize up front for posting such grossly disturbing image)...

(Just get the moderators to delete this it too many folks are driven to reaching for the barf-bags)

I don't generally like to be seen as showing off or searching for random approval, but I found the difference to be quite striking.
Still ugly - but you cant' solve every problem.

If it makes you feel better, you're the spitting image of my friend Steve's father-in-law!

I, sir, applaud you! I am also inspired.
