I'm not sure because I'm getting two different things confused. We selected 1:30 pm as our arrival time and I think that was the earliest we could choose from. On our My Plans tab it says onboard at 3:45 pm. Is that the time we can get on or is that when everyone needs to be on?

Are you talking about being by ourselves at Palo or during dinner rotations?

I believe open boarding at Port Canaveral is usually sometime after 12:30. So you could actually get there before your boarding time.

Okay. 3:45 is when you have to be onboard but you'll be onboard at 1:30. That's not terrible.

All dining rotations. They tend to put small parties together. That doesn't work for my family. First, only my vacation should be ruined by my kids! Second, I just really don't want to make small talk with strangers. Palo you will be at a table for 2.
So if our arrival time is 1:30 what time should we plan on being at the port? I thought that time was when we could come to the port but it sounds like that’s when we can get onboard. Do you think we’ll have any chance at a palo reservation boarding at 1:30?

Oh I don’t mind sitting with other people. I’m a talker so I’m sure it’ll be fun.

I think you certainly have a chance and even if you don't get it I think there's a waiting list. I don't think I've heard of too many people that wanted Palo brunch but didn't end up getting it.

But what if you get stuck at dinner with someone like me? Just kidding, we could talk about pop tarts and tootsie rolls:)

ETA: But there used to be entertaining threads from time to time on the Disney Cruise Line forum about nightmare tablemates.

You won't board early if you show up earlier than your PAT. They just give you a boarding number that corresponds to the PAT and you have to wait. I do think you have a chance at brunch, but I will also say that dinner is great and I'm glad you were able to make a reservation.
The filet and souffle are amazing. Oh, and the calamari. I've done the brunch twice and everyone raves about the chicken parm but I prefer Maggiano's!

:offtopic: DVC moonlight magic 2020 dates have been announced....
I got the email about this. How hard is it to get a ticket to one? Do you have to be booked on points or can you just have an onsite stay? I'll be there Jan 21 to take my dd down to the DCP. Would be fun to attend this! We were there in Aug when they had one going on but we never could get a reservation since we were so new to dvc.

Besides the same cost for varying lengths, have you also noticed that there's a threshold at which the price will jump? Say $1000/person is $100 insurance (made up numbers), but $1001 is $150. I look for the threshold above the minimum I need it for and buy it for that amount. Because why leave "free" insurance on the table, lol.
I originally quoted $300 for $9k insurance, and then tried $10k and it was the same price, so I went with $10k. I did try a higher number, maybe $12k or $15k and the price went up. It was the same price for 1, 2 or 3 weeks.

I am going with the lower Travelex plan but adding the buy-up to double medical and evacuation (I've read evacuation can be $$$ from AK) for $25.

I also looked at Allianz, but they didn't cover financial default to the same level or offer the buy-up for med/evac (to get the med/evac level I wanted I would have had to go with a higher level plan).

Darn, I wish Instacart would let you pickup at Costco. Just put in my address and confirmed that they won't deliver to me :(
What are the fees like with Instacart? I think my Costco participates but I have the Amex offer so that is a no-go there. I need to look at who else I can use it with.

WARNING: There have been recent mixed (and increasing?) DPs that Chase cards are treating PayPal and Venmo person-to-person payments as cash advances and charging accompanying CA fees.

Please be aware, as this may affect some of your strategies to meet MSRs or maximize the CF Q4 5x categories. We’ll keep monitoring the DPs.

See, e.g.,

I also know of at least one other recent DP of someone being charged a CA fee for a PayPal friends and family payment.

Lol I’m really not too worried. I guess if they’re horrible we just won’t talk to them. I want the whole experience: eating with other people and talking with them. Hopefully we just get good ones lol

Isn’t paypal THEIR bonus category this quarter? How does that make any sense? FWIW I JUST used a Chase card via Venmo to pay our local church for some pumpkins (pumpkin patch there is cash it Venmo only) and it coded as purchase. Weird its not across the board.

Not an expert as we've had early boarding times. But unless something's changed, it does sound like you can get there around 12:30.

Okay I think we’ll plan on getting there at 12:30 or a little before just so we’re there and maybe they’ll let us get on a little early. I really hope we can get a palo brunch but if not we’ll keep the dinner. Do you know how late you can cancel the reservation? Is it like wdw where it’s just the day before?

I think it showed $3.99 for a one time delivery or then another one for $9.99 that seemed to allow multiple deliveries. I didn't read too carefully since I was just putting in my address to see if it even worked for me.

I have about 200k UR right now. So I'd be "saving" about 2500 miles a flight. It's good to know about that option since my AA miles are drying up. Esp since I'm about to go for the CIP.

Since you're so good at this....I have 10k Alaska miles (which I know is an AA partner, well for the time being). Best way to use those?

AS isn’t my jam and I’ve only booked a partner award with them once. I do know they are highly valued for their partners. I wish it was easier to accumulate them.

Boujee means straight pimpin, g. Just drippin in juice with a full out swagger.
Hope I cleared that up for you!

Oh those threads were hilarious and horrifying!

Yes. It’s so dumb. I guess they want you to only use PayPal with merchants. The number of people playing the system by doing p2p transfers has got to be so small. [ETA] And if it really is a problem, there are other less extreme things that Chase could do to target the problem, like not awarding points on p2p transactions, or not counting such spend towards MSR.

Instead, if true, so many regular customers are going to be PISSED when they see they’ve been hit with a CA fee for everyday transactions like paying back their coworker for lunch, pooling together money for a gift or event, or sending their kids or grandkids some birthday money. Personally, I know so many parents at my kiddo’s school send money to each other via PayPal and Venmo for class and PTO things all the time, and our PTO even accepts donations via PayPal friends and family. Again, if true, this is forked.
