Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

So they aren’t looking into or evaluating evacuation procedures? How to communicate with those riding the Skyliner during extended stops? I was expecting a more comprehensive statement.

There is probably not a lot more to share right now. Until they determine the cause and what went wrong mechanicaly or procedurally you can't really make a plan yet for fixing it.

I have a question and sorry it's such a gloom and doom question, but, does anyone know if the gondolas have sensors to open the doors if one were to fall off and go into the water? @rteetz

The doors are mechanically opened and closed ...no sensors

Thanks for the answer.

Although chances of one falling off extremely extremely rare, maybe something else Disney should look into to make sure everything is covered.

Just recently in Vancouver someone sabotage the gondola system and cut the line causing the gondolas to fall down to the ground.

They arent going to look into something that doesnt make sense. They arent going to fall. The place where accidents will occur is in the stations. If you fall into that lake, you dont want the door to open, do you know how many gators live in Florida waters?

I live on a lake in Palm Beach so yes I see gators many times a week.

I still would want to take that chance instead of drowning in a metal box.

If you do a google search you can see there have been incidents where cables have snapped or a problem with a tower or something that has caused gondolas to fall and or the line to sag very low.

I can almost guarantee you Disney has had internal discussions about what would happen if one of these went into the water. They would be morons if they didnt.

A bit naive to say a cable cannot break.

From what I have read from news story's where there have been accidents with cable it is more likely the cable would frey then actually snap. At which point the line would start to sag which then becomes dangerous as the gondolas could hit the ground.

Now the incident recently in Vancouver someone cut into the actually cable causing it to snap
