Not really... I know I had put on 5 to 10lbs since last year, as of summertime, but today my weight was the same last year. And I've been on the same bc for years and years now.

I just finished another book by the same author as Behind Closed Doors that I recommended last week. This was called The Breakdown. It was even better than the first. I really like this author. Same psychological thriller genre. I couldn’t stop listening.

I’m up to 29 books so far this year. Way behind my goal and usual total of around 50.

I've got that one checked out as an audiobook. I read take me back and that was good too

So, to recap...I applied for my dh the barclay aviator biz for the third time about 8 biz days ago. He's been denied twice now. First time they sent snail mail asking for verifification docs. Sent those back very next day, never heard from them again. Next time, he was auto-denied. So, today they CALLED him! And he answered.... They grilled him about his "business" that he doesn't even know much about. He's not happy with me right now....Like REALLY not happy with me....

BUT he got approved! With a whopping $650 CL

I don't know if it works all in one reservation or if you need to do it 5 + 1 and call to combine. But effectively, yes. You will pay for 4, get one free from that and another free from your certificate.

I think you have to call to apply the free nights anyway, correct? I have a reservation and 2 free nights but I don’t see any way to apply them without calling. Same for Hyatt. This is the only place that Marriott wins, because their website clearly asks if I want to use my FNC. However for Marriott for sure you can’t use 2 FNC on a 6 night stay and come out ahead. I tried.

Not sure what to do, transfer it off of the card or just leave it for now, knowing eventually it might get taken back? And also, where's the other $1,000? I was mainly worried that the agency might be out the money, but if there's no risk if that then don't worry about it any celebrate?

I’m super honest when it comes to stuff like that. I’ve left money, accidentally given to me, for a loong time. I’d give it st least 6 months before touching it.

If any of you like young adult fantasy I just read one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It’s called Reign the Earth by AC Gaughen. It was extremely good. I read it in one day

See this is why keeping track of sheer numbers of books doesn’t interest me. I mean I could read 100 books like that in a hundred days or a couple of the Harry Potter tomes. Not apples to apples.

thanks! Unfortunately my anniversary is 1/30 and I was hoping to use it for a hotel room on 2/17, so that won’t work lol. No big deal though, I figured I’d be out of luck. I’ve been toying with MSing with that card, but there aren’t any good categories. At least even though I’m paying the fees on VGC at Kroger for my Hilton Surpass, I am earning 6x Hilton points for grocery.

That's what I'm thinking lol. I even flipped through all of my old ones since I throw them in a file and everything has been pretty consistent (minus my weight slowly creeping up) and even today everything was consistent except that. Would have liked to get a real result

Unfortunately even the “real” labs have errors but the point of care tests are even higher rate of errors

Booked a weekend in Chicago to see Hamilton in a few weeks. One last hoorah for my companion pass, until it expires in Dec. Though you never know, may squeeze in one more trip.

Any favorite hotels in Chicago? I'm leaning towards a Hilton because I have a lot of points. Would rather save my URs. Also have a free Hilton Weekend night. I have free IHG and Marriott night certificates also, but they are for the low value hotels and they all look rather expensive in Chicago.

Any must sees? (besides Hamilton )

We stayed at the Residence Inn in the loop when we saw Hamilton. Very convenient. Great breakfast. I used to work for the Chicago Fed in the late 90s so it was cool to stay in that area with my kids.

Thank you! Your mention of 'biz' made me remember I have 1 Amex biz card on it's own log in and it had the Staples offer. I also got the other offers - Sam's 4 extra MR's, 10 of 50 at Olive Garden. This Staples offer blows Chase's $6 out of the water, but I'll take both.

I agree to an extent. I'm at 51 for the year but have a good mix of cozy mysteries, fiction and non ficton. I like a good mix with my easy quick reads cause it's mostly dialogue, you know the characters and can skim the non dialogue but I can't juat read that. Reading them is fun but part of the enjoyment of reading is expanding your mind and learning, easy to reads just don't do that but are great for an anfternoon.

Eta I know I shouldn't work on posts at 5.9 on the treadmill but wait for my walk interval but I always think I can and then I hit post with just the quote

Ds has a tournament there Halloween weekend. Trying to decide if I should go with the other 2 littles b/c now my in-laws are going and we don’t see them a lot. Of course, I bought DH and DS9s flights long ago. Now the return is high. So I’d have to move their return to Monday to add on the rest of us.

Is there anything fun for us to do in Chicago if we have an extra night there? We have been once before, but it was in the summer.

If you have an offer on your Amex biz card, like the $100 off of $500 at luxury Marriott properties, will you get that offer on both the main card and an employee card? Or just one or the other?

Skimmed through so I might have missed an answer already, but the employee and AU cards all get their own offers. It's possible that the main card and the employee card gets the same offer, but you'd have to add it to each card to use it. You can't add it to the main card but try to redeem with the employee and vice versa.
But I'm pretty sure I've gotten the same offer on the employee card as hubby got on the main one. (Hasn't been one that we'd want to use so haven't yet actually added the same one to each card)

We were there July 17, 2016 when they were celebrating the actual 61st anniversary (opened July 17, 1955) during the 60th anniversary celebration. They had a few special things that day, but they had some employees lined up down Main Street giving everyone high fives when we arrived.

Just got the email from AA that starting March 2020 can't use AA miles to book Alaska Air flights and vice versa

Looks like they're still codeshare partners so you can earn miles but can't redeem them. I take it my flight that used Alaska for the FAI-SEA leg wouldn't come up after Feb 29. Sorry folks, I'm sure somehow I 'touch of death-ed' that too.

So I accidentally made a personal purchase on my business card. (I booked flights). I own the business so it's not like it would be a big deal with the company. But is that going to be an issue with Chase or anything? I'm going to pay the company back from my personal account. But I've heard some people have run into issues with this before. Help!

You shouldn't have any issues. I pay many of our business cards with 2 payments - one from personal and one from business checking.

We started in June 2018. Before that, we had the same 2 credit cards, Discover and a Citi that had gone through many changes, since 1991 We are moving pretty slowly!

Update on my World of Hyatt Free Night. Card opened on 7/7/2018, AF charged 8/1/2019. Free night has exp of Sep 5, 2020. I am sure it was not in my account on Sept 5, but whatever. So about 60 days from opening anniversary, about 8 weeks to post because I swear I looked yesterday.

That is for the newer World of Hyatt CC. @Judique has the older Hyatt CC and hers came immediately. They told me to expect 10 weeks when I asked.

ETA @pillow applied not long after I did. Did you get your night yet?

Garnet Hill fans.

I LOVE the cashmere wrap, it is so wonderful. I like the cashmere duster but it’s too long and looks like a robe on me. I’ll probably return it and hope they come out with a long cardigan in the future.

I also ordered a pair of slightly distressed black skinny jeans and I am in love. They are so stretchy and stylish and super comfy. They’re appropriate for work (we’re business very casual thanks to all the 20 somethings that have made flip flops acceptable ) but can totally be dressed up. The brand is Level 99 which I’d never heard of before but now I’d like to get some in a dark denim color.
