anyone got any end of the year cc plans. platinums, sw, ? what is there that should be considered for end of the year and why? it is coming up and i have a spot but no firm plans for what i should be taking advantage of.

I will be ...drum roll please...4/24 the end of November so Dec 1 I will be applying for the CIP! Super excited as you can imagine. Other than that, no idea. I'll have to pace myself with Chase biz cards after that. It seems there's not a lot of exciting offers now, which is good so I haven't been derailed in my quest to achieve the under 5/24 status.

I know we've discussed connection lengths when traveling internationally, but I have yet another airport question.

How long would you allow at Vancouver when traveling from the US (EWR) to Sydney? Would 2.5 hours starting at 9pm be ok? (This is assuming the flights stay the same for the next 4-6 weeks lol)
I can give you our experience last May. Arriving from ORD to YVR, it took us over 2 hours to clear customs and get luggage. It’s was nuts even though they had kiosks. They directed the line in a completely unorganized illogical way. On the way back, we weren’t allowed to use GE without our GE cards (which I had unwisely hidden in our luggage and forgotten where).

Not sure exactly when I'm going to apply as I will have a harder time trying to meet the MSR this time. Taxes are due in late October / early November for well in excess of the $5,000.00 but the county charges a 2.5% fee on cc payments. I guess 100,000 URs would be worth that. Heck I was thinking that I could meet the MSR on an AmEx platinum to cover the tax payment (I checked and they accept Visa, MC and AmEx). Actually I am pondering if I should try to get a 100,000 platicorn MR offer -- never tried before and I'm not going to try until I am ready.
DISchurners 😉 😉

EDIT: I hope everybody understands the goal here. Please protect things for future churners - there’s no need to broadcast ANY details of this nature. We have a safe place for that discussion.

EDIT 2: thanks for the edit :D

Spent about 5 days at WDW last week to check out Halloween on a solo trip! Planned last minute-ish. I have an AP this year and wanted to do the Halloween Party for the first time. No regrets! Gosh, the party is great. (Much more fun than disneyland’s was last year imho.) I stayed at Gran Destino in a standard room for one night and club level for the rest both booked at AP rate. WOWZA! Loved it. Would definitely return. It’s beautiful and the rooms feel like a deluxe. I would bring ear plugs because there was a weird background sound coming from the fire alarm in both rooms. The Disney movies on demand was nice but there were only a couple available. Club was good too, will review that on the CL thread later. Paid with Disney Gift Cards gotten on different deals over the last few months.

Points! Points! Points! Ok, ok. So where did points come into play since that’s what we’re all about? Airfare I booked one way with my skypesos and one way with AA miles. Nice to have diversified currencies to grab the routes at prices I wanted! I’m a cardholder for both airlines so free bags. I bookended my trip with Hyatt Place stays using URs to Hyatt points because I left early and arrived late and didn’t want to drive tired. I used Minnie Vans for about half my transport while there because of my Altitude Reserve Real Time Rewards and about 75% of my drives ended up covered. I booked CSR but hate buses so I had budgeted for some Minnie Vans ahead of time. I have bad luck with Uber’s and Lyfts in Orlando, Minnie Vans are like 3x more expensive but not one bad experience. (I ventured to Lyft one morning and he raced right past the exit for DHS! Regretted that one. Vacation is not having to think “is this a moment to get ready call 911?” ). Since Minnie Vans bill through Lyft they trigger the 1.5x Real Time Redemption option on the AR.

While not points related this was my first solo Disney trip. I’d done a couple days with friends & then a couple days solo but first time a whole Disney trip was just me. It was so nice. It’s a lot easier to pick up 4th FPs as a solo traveler! Finished my 3 at DHS one day and refreshed a few times & got one for RNR for 10 mins later, as soon as I scanned in I got another for like a minute later and after I scanned in for that I got Slinky Dog at night! (I ended up scoring nighttime SDD as 4th/5th FP on two nights!!). It was a really fun and relaxing time that I sorely needed and was only possible because of The Game :D
That sounds amazing! I really liked my past CSR stay and would definitely utilize Minnie Vans if staying in Gran Destino Tower. Chronos Club looks great from all the posts and it seems like it has a ton of food/drink options! I love how you mentioned not needing 911. Some of those rideshare situations are... unpleasant. I love traveling within my WDW bubble at the hands of a CM. I even got the driver in the promo video one time!

Good grief, I am without an MSR again??!!??!! Everytime I wonder, can I meet this easily, and then a couple weeks later, oh look, all done :-)
I got my cip a couple weeks ago and have already spent $3500. Blergh. Admittedly I got it when I did due to known upcoming expenses. But man can money go fast sometimes.

I currently have no idea what to do next, since it seems like aa might not be an option.

Wanna see the spiders I find all over the top of our lanai? I kill them with a rock because they freak me out and they’re spiky lol. We have multiple rocks out back with blood on them. Apparently they’re harmless but I don’t want them making webs above my head while I’m swimming. They are kind of cool looking though
WHAT!?!?! How is that thing "safe?!"
