New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

So... I’m not sure if I have a serious dilemma or not. Basically, we purchased both single day tickets for Friday and Saturday initially, thinking we’d skip Sunday in favor of the parks. That is, until they announced that Parks & Resorts would be held on Sunday morning. Sooo... we caved and bought another couple single day tickets for Sunday as well.

We had both our Friday and Saturday badges arrive in the mail today and got them activated. Initially, I didn’t think anything of it and I thought that the Saturday badges were actually Sunday until I just re-read them now. I know, I know... “Huge letters at the bottom, how could you confuse that??” Don’t judge, haha...

Anyway. So I guess that Friday and Saturday shipped separately from Sunday? I should suspect Sunday to turn up in the next couple days then?? Reservations open sooner than later and obviously we don’t have a lot of time to wait for our straggling Sunday.

Any advice on what to do??

Also... now that we have those tickets activated and in our app, the app doesn’t show that “register your badges” activation screen any longer. I know we can go to the website to activate the badges when they arrive... buuut... how would I get them synced up into our apps now?? Gah... blast... :\

Depending on when you bought the Sunday badge, you may have to pick it up through will call. There was a cutoff date for shipping purchased badges

We got our Sunday tickets definitely later than the others... but not super recently. We would’ve purchased them *the day* that Parks & Resorts was announced to be taking place on Sunday, to give anybody a timeframe. Was this after cut-off for shipment? If so, would will call be open DURING the expo?? We aren’t going to waste our theme park time on Thursday and we already have our badges for Friday and Saturday... so it would be a lot more beneficial if we could just make a pit-stop sometime over there during the expo itself...

Do the lookup will call on Wednesday, as someone else said, if they don't show up by Friday. They probably will though. I had a mishap when I ordered my 3 day tickets. I needed to order 3. I can't remember if I foobared if the site did, but I had to do 2 orders: 1 3 day and then 2 3 day tickets. The 1 showed up on Saturday, and then the 2 showed up yesterday. Can't help with the registration. I only registered 1 3 day for me. My friends are activating the other 2 3 day tickets. Did you try looking at the website to see if you would be able to activate more? That might trigger something in the app.

Got our badges yesterday. I was sitting on our porch when the mailman arrived, I saw him put a big manila envelope in the mailbox. I put on my shoes right away to grab it and did a happy dance all the way back to the house. Good thing our neighbors weren't home they would have thought I'd gone crazy!

So anybody else have their tickets get lost or stolen by the USPS? Got the envelope yesterday and noticed it was in my (locked) mailbox, but the envelope was opened. I looked inside and found only the letter indicating my badges were "enclosed" but there was nothing there. The envelope was not torn or damaged in any way, just opened. No notes written on the envelope to indicate it was opened for legal reasons by USPS.

So I already filed a report with the Postal Inspector, though I work in law enforcement and know they are completely useless and this is more just for documentation.

After several attempts to reach someone via phone at D23, I was told my issue would be forwarded up "the chain" and that I should hear something by the 15th. They could offer me nothing else and indicated that I probably would not be offered a refund at this time.

I'm so over the issues that happen every dang year with this expo. It's really not even fun anymore. I'm sure they will offer me to pick up new tickets at Will Call, but that's not going to work. We all know the Will Call lines are huge and that only puts us further back in the rat race that is the opening of the expo. If you're not running to your location first thing in the morning, you get to endure hours of waiting in long lines and the usual "we just ran out" lines from CMs working the stores.

Not much of a question here, more of a rant. Anybody else have their badges stolen?

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I've seen a few reports of it on Facebook - looks like the shipping company didn't use the sturdiest adhesive, possibly?

I'm so sorry to hear this...and this happened to my husband and I too! When we got home yesterday and checked our mailbox which is locked as well and all that was in the manila envelope was the letter but NO badges! We ordered the 3 day badges too! We contacted D23 and they said they would escalate it to the ticketing team, so let's hope something is resolved. I'd be okay with the will call tickets than nothing at all, we're flying in from Washington so we have this whole trip planned around this expo...and this would be our first time at the d23 expo, my heart is broken! I'm seriously in disbelief that this happened but those envelopes had the WORST adhesive... they need to fix this issue for future years to come.

This is so sad, I’m sorry too that you have to deal with this. Very strange that they might be stolen as there’s nothing on the envelope to indicate Disney or D23.

Will call is open starting Thursday, might that be an option if you have to pick up replacement badges?

North Hall Level 200 Hours
Will Call hours are: Thursday, August 22 through Saturday, August 24 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 25 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

I thought they were going to give info on how "Will Call" people or those who hadn't received their tickets yet could the badge number and reserve Stage/Store/Talent passes ahead of time. This is from an email that I received yesterday from D23. Maybe this will work. You would probably still have to wait in line at Will Call to get the actual badge though.

Will Call Guests
For guests who are picking up their badges at Will Call or have not yet received their badge in the mail, you will be able to look up your badge number on D23Expo.com/Activate on Wednesday, August 14 at 12:00p.m. PT. Once you retrieve your badge number, you can then activate it and will be all set to make online reservations on Friday, August 16.

As a few others have said, I highly doubt they were stolen. Our envelope flap was hanging on for dear life, I could have blown it open if I wanted to. Whatever they used to seal them was a terrible choice. The company they used to ship these is clearly at fault.

Wow, good to know I'm not the only person. Perhaps they were just lost, but is the USPS that inept they just have hundreds of tickets lying on the floor of a sorting room some where. The lack of information from D23 is really concerning. Very hard to reach anybody and they are not replying to E-mails or social media posts.

There is no way I will be there by 7PM on Thursday, so that's not going to work for me. But thanks for the suggestion. That's actually a good option for those who will be there early Thursday. I think D23 needs to do the right thing, eat the cost and overnight new badges right away.

I was able to reach someone this morning who said it's "most likely" that they will NOT refund money for missing badges. This is such a hassle and mess now. As if the expos aren't already a mess.

I have a friend that works at the Post Office and she mentioned to me yesterday that she saw people were getting D23 badges. She mentioned that she could see the physical badge, which shouldnt be possible.

This is clearly a problem with the packaging that was used.

Hi all!

I was going to create a thread but figured I'd ask here first since it's D23 related.
Has anyone received an email today from Disney movie rewards regarding free tickets to a member celebration held at DCA, on August 24th?
The email states its first come first served, space limited. Up to four tickets, per person I believe. This event is going on during D23 but no D23 badge is required. The email is kinda vague as it doesn't tell you how to redeem these ticket, just states it will start August 14th 8am pdt.

I got that email. It also doesn't specify how many points are required to redeem tickets, whether DCA admission is required to attend, and what time the event is. The whole thing was rather strange and confusing as I've never gotten an event invite email from Disney Movie Rewards before.

I expect more details will be available tomorrow when the booking window opens,

Ok I don't know how this person on twitter found this link to the page but I did a Twitter search and here's the link:
https://www.disneymovierewards.com/rewards/dmr-member-celebration-D7095
So its 150pts to redeem. Four tickets per person.
The event starts at 7:30pm-9:30pm
Guests will be escorted from DCA to DL for a reservedseating of the 10:30pm Fantasmic show.
Checkin starts at 7pm, no accommodations or travel included. It does not state valid theme park admission required. So the tickets include theme park admission.

I've never heard of this type of event from DMR.

Guess I'll set my alarm...

Well, this is tempting... I was going to ignore that email because I wasn't sure we needed more events thrown into our schedule But now? Hmmm.... I wonder what section they reserved and how many tickets total they blocked? The regular dining packages will still have their sections, so will we be down by the water or back in the standby section?

Activation process was smooth and easy. Wish there was way to link badges on the app.
Just remembered a tip that might come in handy (or might not): take a photo of the badge numbers and membership card numbers (if applicable) of the people in your party, just to have them handy. Last Expo, at least a few times, I was asked for DH"s credentials, didn't have them on me, and was able to show the photos. Once was in line for MOG (DH had gone to the restroom when the line started moving), once was for the gold member line for the Arena when DH was going to meet up with me, etc. CMs weren't consistent about asking for these, but it was nice to be able to show them the photos -- then DH could confirm the info when he showed up.
