AP Discount Watch and FAQ 2023. 10% - 40% off select nights July 11 - Sept 28; Oct 2 - Dec 25

My rack rate night is available and would save me $150, but the view is standard vs garden view so I'd have to change rooms and more importantly, I can't modify without losing the sf discount I have on the other days meaning it would cost me more to do it. My rate for the other nights is already significantly lower on the SF discount- $65 less per night and it's a garden vs the standard that is available for those nights. So my bottom line problem is, I can't get the entire 3 day trip on one reservation and that's the only way it would save me a little overall and I can't modify to get the better rate from the rack rate I have. I'd be willing to change to the BC or BWI, but no availability there either and location is our priority this trip. It's not a huge amount of money either way, just like to save anywhere I can.
Curious.
I found a stay I booked in March with the Sun and Fun that I could use to compare to what is out today with the AP rates.
4 nights at CSR King Tower is $1168 today and $1249 in March. Same exact nights, same exact room.
The other stays I had booked with the Sun and Fun discount are no longer available with any discount. The week of 8/26 was available with the Sun and Fun discount, then they modified the discount to end in May. I booked before they modified it so I have the discount for my Birthday stay. There are no discounts out that week at all now, not with any promo so I can't compare it to anything.

I want to SCREAM!! On hold for 2 hours waiting to speak to a real live person. Finally got a cast member who's command of English was sub par. Had to repeat things several times to him. THEN he tells me I don't have a reservation! Oh yes I do!! He struggles through things, waiting for another cast member to help him. After another hour on the phone with him he tells me their system is down and I have to call back!!!! Tried severl times now but get a busy signal! So frustrating!!!>:(

My $65 was wrong- math is hard. :) The rate is lower, but only for a very little amount- under $10, but the reasoning remains the same. We booked the summer fun before they ended it as well, but it only ran through the end of September and at the time I booked, no other discounts were open so I have rack rate for the last night. The stars just aren't aligned for me this time, but I'm happy I got any discount at all!

Was able to apply the AP discount to my early October reservation at Pop. I'm staying Wed thru Sunday and first 2 nights are 20% off, but Fri & Sat are only 10%.

Likewise for my December trip I added the Fall and Holiday offer at AS Sports, staying Sat to Tue, Sat night is only 8% off, other nights are 10%.

Yeah, they aren't the 40-45% discounts that we've been getting. So the difference is lower.
I found another stay to compare, booked 5 nights at BWI in late Sept, Garden room. Sun and Fun was $2087 and the AP is $2040
I was just happy to see they didn't limit the AP discounts as much as they did the Free Dining one. All of Oct was excluded. As were both our weeks in Sept and Nov that we'd been looking at.

I applied the PH discount to my existing POFQ reservation via the website. Saved $330.00 for 5 nights.
Just curious, when do you go? I didn't see any availability for French Quarter during my entire stay from 10/27 till 11/16 as I checked 5-6 hours before...

That's great. Did you run into any trouble with that or was it just easily applied?

Good to hear. Like above, did you run into trouble with this? I'm at work and am not sure if I'll be able to get through right now at least.

I need to book 2 rooms for a stay in May. Should I book these now and try to apply discounts when they're released? Is it easier to have a reservation first to apply discounts to or easier to book when a discount is released?

Just curious why some people call in and wait? The website (and applying discounts to existing reservations) is pretty easy. It is just sometimes no availability for the resort/room type or dates you had already picked.
So .. just seems to be a "lucky" thing .. if the resort you want has availability on the dates you wanted. If you have flexibility, I guess you can just choose the best days (which is hard to find the way the system "finds" room availability for you.

It just not simple is it?
For example, I can find a discount for All-Star Music for $105/night for Oct. 14-18 (Monday-Friday) .. add in on more day and that balloons to $135/night because no availability except for preferred rooms.

I seem to be going at a highly desirable time (mid October) .. (which is fine, it will be our final trip on the AP (so our 3rd (or maybe 4th) trip .. so crowds aren't a super concern (as we've done a lot this year already). It is mainly for my daughter's birthday.

I had no problems doing it online. Changed both reservations in less than 10 minutes. Was on my tablet.

These inept CM are really getting out of hand.
My friend went to book a stay over the weekend and for whatever reason called vs doing it herself online. She's booking for 5 adults and the CM told her BWI was not for 5 adults! She doesn't know enough to argue with them and insist so the CM booked her at OKW instead. She's getting it switched today, and getting the discount. Just irked me that they have such bad info

ETA - and no, the only room available was not a Cottage. They do just sleep 4. They are wide open for our dates. Plenty shows up for 5.

I'm going to venture to guess that those who call are those who can't see the AP rates for a variety of reasons.

It's never better to book without a discount unless you are willing to still go and pay the rate you book at originally. Every booked room is 1 less reason for them to offer a discount. Give them too many reasons and you won't see a discount for your dates. Your booked room only contributes to this concept.

I modified a stay for Nov earlier this morning. Super easy

I figured this, so I have been waiting and I know I have a long while to wait. By the way, I hate waiting.

It is rare for me to be able to modify existing reservation online. I usually do not have the option to do this. Which is why I usually have to call and wait on hold. This was an oddity for me.

I've tried modifying my existing reservation online approximately every half hour since 8:00am. I always get the message "Sorry, but we are unable to complete your purchase online at this time. Please call (407) W-DISNEY or (407) 934-7639 for assistance, or try again later."

Me too! I was waiting till they issued the rates for the Oct stay my friend went on and booked with over the weekend. She is going that week no matter what. On the other hand, we'd have only joined them if they issued a discount. I knew they would eventually, just didn't know when till yesterday. I booked our stay today.

The only other stay I have booked is over NYE. I know there will not be any discounts offered for then, not room only ones anyway. You can get a package that starts just before that and that could apply to the NYE nights but we don't stay for that long so that wouldn't ever do us much good. If you have a long stay it's the one time to book a package vs. room only
