We actually enjoyed staying in building five in the room closest to the lake there on the corner. We parked in the lot that is labeled check in on the map (in reality, only a few Rows are reserved for people checking in)and it wasn’t too far at all from our room. We enjoyed walking through the lobby in the morning and evening on the way to our room.
We are not driving, but are looking for a good room location and Building 5 at the end looks like a nice view and our kids want to hang out at the main pool. Can you tell me how far away it was from the bus stop, and did you have a view of any fireworks? I read somewhere that you can see some fireworks from the lake view rooms, but I don't know which ones. We couldn't get preferred, so looking for a non-preferred room not too far from the main pool, but close to the lobby and bus stop which are more important.

We stayed in building 5 lake view back in 2017, and it was a great location and not a long walk to the lobby or bus stops at all!

And yes, we saw lots of fireworks from our rooms! It was awesome!!

Thanks! I have had several people aid their rooms did not, so do you know which part of building 5 you were in? There are lakeviews in 5425- 5436 and 5413- 5424. I am in a standard and not Preferred room.

We recently returned, staying in rooms 5215-5217 lakeview, and went to the 4th floor to watch fireworks several nights. Great view!

I’m sorry, I was wrong! I just went and looked at my room ready text from that trip and we were in building 3, room 3232. (I was thinking 50’s was building 5). It was a perfect location, quiet, and the fireworks views were great!

Thank you! That looks a little far from the bus stop, though for non-preferred? I was thinking buildings 5, 6, or 10.

It didn’t seem far at all, to be honest. It was a very pleasant walk. We were going to stay at Pop before deciding to switch to POFQ, and I was going to request the same location.

I’m sure buildings 5,6, or 10 will work just as well for you!!

What do you have to do to get a room close to Classic Hall? I reserved my room in December, requested 60s building and a top floor, and ended up in the 80s building (the furthest from CH) and third floor. Third floor didn't bother me but that long walk was a slog in last week's 90+ heat and humidity. Was told when we checked in (4 hours later than we thought due to our flight being delayed, so at 11 p.m. instead of the 7 p.m. we'd been anticipating) no other rooms were available and the desk clerk didn't seem interested in helping us out at all. She didn't even come out from behind the desk to greet us as I saw other CMs do.

I guess you need to book a preferred room if you want a guarantee of being close to the lobby and transportation.

We had actually booked standard because we liked the 50’s lake view so much, so we took our chances.

Requests are just requests and I agree that the time may have been a factor.

Also I've stayed at pop 4 times and have never had someone come out from behind the desk to greet me or seen it done.

That makes me think it’s worth it to try to arrive early if possible. Both times we had issues with our room, it wasn’t a problem getting a different one, with it being earlier in the day.

Hello! We are staying at Pop in June for hte first time and I'm so excited! We are DVC and it is only our second time staying at a Value resort, first time at Pop. We did not care for AS Music, but are really excited about Pop! I started looking at the pictures at the beginning of the thread and these appear to be the old rooms. Is there a new thread, or do I just need to scroll through the pages to find the new pics? Just want to make sure I'm on the correct thread! Also, I'm about to make my room request for Pop. I have read through everything and still can't decide. I am on Touring Plans doing my room request. I have a non-preferred room as preferred wasn't available with the Passholder rate. My kids like to be near the main pool and dining hall, and I prefer to be close to transportation for the late nights getting back to the room from the bus. I am looking at building 5, 6 or 10. Building 5 would be the back half towards the lake since it is not preferred, but close to the main pool which I like. Is that going to be far from the bus stop and dining hall? Also, do any of the in Building 5 or 6 with lake views have fireworks views? It looks like a nice view and close to the pool, not too far from the dining hall, but after staying at All Star Movies, I now realize how far you can be from the Main areas and bus stop if you don't have a preferred room. Building 6 seems a little closer to the bus stop than building 5 non-preferred rooms, but further from the pool than building 5. Building 10 seems closest to the bus stop but far from the main pool (they like the games and activities there, not the quiet pool). How far away are the lakeview rooms in Building 5 and 6 non-preferred rooms from the main dining hall and bus stop? Help me decide on my request!

We stayed at Pop a couple of times pre-renovation when we hadused up our DVC points, and we enjoyed it. Our first time was in a standard room in building 10. View from our window was toward the parking lot but there were a lot of trees and lawn so seemed restful and peaceful to me, plus we didn’t get any outside noise from people walking to Classic Hall. It was a quick walk to CH through the 70s courtyard or a quick walk the other way across the parking lot to the bus stops. Our next stay was in a preferred room (no standard available when we booked) in the 50s Lady & the Tramp building. It too was a relatively short walk to CH but to get to the bus stop you had to go through CH, so all in all I preferred building 10.

I would have loved to get there earlier - our flight was delayed by 4 hours due to storms in the Orlando area. Our plans for a relaxing dinner at Disney Springs turned into cold overpriced turkey and cheese sandwiches at midnight in our hotel room - and one of the sandwiches was lacking the cheese. Not how I wanted my first evening ever at Disney to go at all!

I saw it done with the 3 people in line ahead of us. But they were all waited on by different CMs. I guess some do it and some don't. The next couple of times I needed to go to the front desk the CM did it. I thought it was a nice touch.

No doubt! That doesn’t sound fun at all!

Since POP runs near capacity by the time the day is almost over most rooms are filled (if not all). This means it isn't possible to move you because no other rooms exist.

We’ve stayed at Pop several times and have on numerous occasions seen a CM come out to greet the person in line and walk with them to the desk. We’ve had it happen a few times ourselves.

It really happens a lot at AoA-the Front Desk was designed in an "open" format for that purpose.:)

Unfortunately there are CM’s that don’t/won’t bother to check on availability for you. It can happen. There was probably very little availability late at night anyways.

What we’ve done in the past is to request a room change in the morning. If we are not happy with our location, and we’re staying a number of days, it’s worth it for us to make a move.

It wasn't :-( I wanted to have that "YAY! Finally made it to Disney World!" feeling, but it's really hard to be thrilled when you drag into the parking lot in the dark, exhausted, at close to midnight knowing that you've got no time to acclimate to your surroundings before you have to get to bed, because you paid $$$ for those park tickets and sleeping in isn't an option. We got a late start on Monday anyway, because we had to wait for our luggage and didn't get to bed until almost 2 a.m.

Makes me want to book another trip ASAP and pretend it's my first trip just so I have a chance to be really excited about getting there! Maybe in a few years :-)
