DVC Members cruise Oct 5-12 2019 to Bermuda/Boston!!!

I’m in the same boat! Headed to DL for Galaxy’s Edge at the end of the month but excursion booking will open up right when we get home.
You are brave to be at GE for opening weekend as I think it will be crazy :crutches: But I’d l to hear of how it goes as I have a reservation to get in for June, after I’m back from my other trips & before it is opened up for the summer. Have fun!!!

I know we're crazy but it will be exciting and we've never had an opportunity to be one of the first ones into a new land. We'll pack our patience and try to manage expectations, but it will be SO cool to see the Falcon in person!

I was at Cars Land on opening day, it is fun to be able to say that I was there, but it was wall to wall people. Patience will be the key, as I expect SW to be crazier because there are a LOT more SW fans. Sounds like you’ve got the right approach & mindset.

Darn, I was hoping we'd be in port in Bermuda alone  Not thrilled to have to share it with a mega ship

I’ve been able to start some research on around private tours on Bermuda.

There are options for taxi tours which seem to be most popular, and most used. Either taxis are waiting at the Port as folks exit the ships, or some can be booked ahead of time. With a taxi tour, it can be customized - the driver can have some spots he will take folks, or else people can have their own stops in mind, or a combo of the two.

There tends to be standard established rates for some cab tours per hour, $50 per hour for 1-4 people and $70 per hour for 5-7 people. There seem to be mostly small vans, rather than larger vans. Several of the taxis will wait as there are stops for pictures, lunch/snacks, climbing the Lighthouse, etc. because the rate is per hour. There also seems to be a time minimum for a tour that varies between 3 or 4 hours. Maximums can go to 5-6 hours or more, all depends on what you want to see & do and how much you want to spend.

That’s good to know. Thank you.

Oh wow, I had heard that we shouldn't expect our booklets as far in advance as normally but you're sailing in 2 weeks, that's cutting it close :rotfl: Being that I'm in Canada, I usually get them a bit later too....this will make me bite my nails :rotfl:
This would make me super nervous too. When I'm travelling, I tend to quadruple check everything to make sure I didn't miss anything. Once, a friend's plane ticket was lost and she didn't find out until she tried to get her boarding pass the night before (they had her name and confirmation number and nothing else) so I'm always in a panic.

OK!:)
In a Local Candy/Snack Exchange, we use Fish extenders to gift others with a Regional candy or Snack. We pass out the gifts once, and you give enough for the cabin to share. Until the end of August, I will just note interest here, but by September 5, the exchange will be closed. ( I am on the WBTA Cruise, and we leave for Paris on September 11). Depending on the signups, there may be more than one group. On one DVC MC, there were 32 Cabin signed up, I divided the group into 4 groups of 8. On the West Coast DVC MC in May there are just 5 Cabins total involved. I will definitely keep the groups around 8, in case of a large turnout. The food must be packed by a manufacturer, similar to Halloween treats, no homemade food is allowed on board.
In August please send me a conversation stating your cabin number, how many are in your cabin, adults and children and if there are any allergies. In your gift, please put some information about the history of your food.

Anyone else?
I would love to join. It sounds like fun!!

Has anyone tried to get the Frozen discounted tickets?
This is one time being close enough to drive to port didn't pay. No one else in my family wanted to plan for an extra day in NYC which would include a room, additional parking, and another day of dog sitting. They said they would go with me another time.

We live in Cape May NJ, not close to port, but do not have to fly. We do not get to NYC often, and Patricia lives in OK, so we decided two nights in NYC would be a treat.

bobbiwoz, Where are you planning on parking your car while on the cruise. Right now I have a hotel booked in NJ which allows parking but my DH really doesn't want to drive up till the morning of the cruise. We live close to Baltimore Md and if we decided to do this I would like to have a parking reservation ahead of time which the port doesn't do reservations.

Tom is driving us, this is a Gals Cruise, 5 friends. Sorry, I cannot help you. I bet someone here can. He’s picking us up, too.

Cruise ship schedule for Bermuda when we are there - the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas will be in port on the adjacent dock the same two days we are there, and virtually the same times..

Does anyone think with this large of a ship in port at the same time, booking excursions once we get off the ship might be more difficult? We've never been to Bermuda but I have read several tips that there are a lot of vendors right at the port so no need to book through DCL. Knowing there will be this much competition for those options, wondering if we'd be better off with DCL?

It’s a consideration that we’re talking about. No decision as yet.
