Fantasyland: "Be ready to lose something you love." ???

It wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see the Fantasyland theater area changed into something else. It’s a huge plot of land and even when my kids were younger, it was an easily skipped area. Plenty of room for a couple dark rides or a new E-Ticket.

But that’s the only thing.
No, I love Mickey and the Magical Map as well as the other live stage shows they have had in the past, although I would love to see the theater enclosed similar to how they enclosed the theater that Finding Nemo at AK would be great.

The main rumor I have heard was Pinocchio and Snow White going away to put in a new Beauty and the Beast dark ride that would take up the area of those two.
While I'd love to see more new dark rides, especially one based on Beauty and the Beast, I'd hate to see these two classics go. They are great and classics. Especially with neither of these being at WDW they're the only versions in North America for these. I'd much rather see them remove the Fantasyland theatre, Casey Jr., and Storybook Canal boats go away to put in a huge Fantasyland expansion with multiple new attractions (maybe BatB and Tangled rides).

Just gave it lots of thought and determined that I would be super sad to lose anything in Fantasyland. I do wish there were two Casey Junior trains though, that line is always so long.

There are two trains, they aren't always both running, but there are indeed two, I have been on it many times when both are running at the same time, usually while loading the other one is across the way.

Ever since the Village Haus restaurant became the Red Rose Taverne, I’ve been waiting for Pinocchio’s Daring Journey to disappear. I will not be happy when that day comes.

This new rumor about both Pinocchio and Snow White going away is even worse.

First off, I love both rides. Dark Rides for me are the classic DL experience. Stepping into fantasy and experiencing it for yourself is such a fun trip. They both have the experiences of adventure, danger and fun, all rolled up into one.

Secondly, replacing two great attractions with one, regardless of if it ends up being a better ride or not, is just insane. Take two queues that on average have fairly fast wait times and replace them with one that may need a FP to be tolerable. No thank you.

Lastly and purely sentimental; these two rides represent the first two feature length films produced by Walt. There is a certain harmony that their presence gives to the park. Honoring the past while still embracing the future. Removing them would be a disservice to these classic films, Fantasyland’s meaning and it’s legacy. I’m not usually a keep Disneyland a museum type, but certain rides should never go away. Enhance them, or otherwise improve them, sure. But don’t remove them.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I just find the newer animatronics and effects less impressive than the old ones. For example, most of Little Mermaid just doesn't do much for me (but I do love the Ursula scene). I don't, as a rule, care as much for the Garner Holt stuff. I think it would be a shame to remove any of the old dark rides, especially if they plan to replace them with a new attraction. I'm good with putting in a new attraction like Beauty and the Beast, but not at the expense of dark rides that are there now.

I always find it interesting that they chose not to put Winnie the Pooh in Fantasyland. Often when I see it has a 5 minute line I wonder how much longer the line would be if it was located in Fantasyland.

So Disney is again messing with the things meant for the little ones.

Have you been on Snow White lately?! It’s not for the little ones. My 7 year old was horrified by it. The skeletons, haunted forest, alligators on the floor, and the witch jumping out at you at least three times are key elements. It’s a classic, but I would be ok with them replacing it. Pinocchio is equally dark.

Now touch Mr. Toad and I would have to chain myself to a Winky car.

The scary aspects of these rides are part of what makes them great to me. A little (imaginary) adventure and danger makes them all the more thrilling and fanciful. I dare say that they are character building even because of it. Scary but not traumatizing.

My kids were scared when they were little. Even I was scared a bit on them when I was little. But we all love them now.

They haven’t run both trains in years. I actually have a former student who works as an attractions CM and she’s there sometimes, and I’ve asked her about it. She says no plans to run two again but doesn’t know why.

Ironic when the ride that ends in hell is a keeper but Snow White is too dark...

NO, please, back out of Fantasyland slowly suits and put your pencils down. If you want to change anything in there, bring back some food items off of the menu at Red Rose Tavern. Keep up every ride in there and do not let the paint chip, etc. It seems magical in there, right as you pass through the castle, it washes over you, especially first thing in the morning! Nice. So, suits, go to Tommorrowland and figure out how to incorporate a 2.0 version of a People Mover, solar powered cars, and other cool rides/attractions. Like others have said, Knotts has learned from their mistake, Disney, stop getting rid of great talent just to look good on paper.

There has been a lot of talk about Snow White's Scary Adventure and Pinocchio going away. With all of Tomorrow Lands problems you would think they would leave well enough alone and deal with that mess. That would be the smart thing to do. But putting Star Wars land in DCA would have also been the smart thing to do so who knows what they plan on doing. I don't have a lot of faith in the people who are planning Disneyland's future. Their decsions are so out of touch its almost as if they don't even go to the parks. So who knows.
Hmmm. I was agreeing with you right up to the comment on SWL at DCA. DL was in great need of a new E-Ticket, already has ST and has been the place for Star Wars for the last 3+ decades.

I will say that DL and DLR as a whole has had lots of ups and downs on their decision making. TL was nearly ruined 20 years ago. Now it is greatly improved. But still needs help.

DLR seemed to be on a roll with decision making from maybe 2004-2015. As I have said over the last year, someone or some group of new people high up are making some or all the decisions differently from before. And they seem to assume DLR is bullet proof from bad decisions. That is how the DCA fiasco got started. It will bite Disney in the b*tt at some point. I see some good decisions being made like Project Star Dust. But I see some poor ones like Marvel Land at DCA. I am ambivalent about Marvel at Disney, but DCA is not the right place for it. As much as Disney was able to make GOTG work at DCA and do a good job with it, it was the wrong decision IMO. I understand why they did it, but it was and is force feeding.

I could not bear to lose anything from Fantasyland. It is an entire self-reinforcing system. Start taking things out and we will have MK's FantasyLand. A place that feels disjointed and does not compare at all to DL's - even with 7DMT.

On the other hand, MK's TL rocks and puts DL's current TL to shame.

Such a good point! Trying to imagine a world where the Barnstormer fits thematically in our FL right now... can't even fathom it
