The ABC's of Sauntering Through WDW- J is for: Just Like That, It's Judiciously Ended! (4/23)

*sigh* I'm starting to think I need to make a spreadsheet of all these restaurants I'm reading about on your trip report and suddenly want to try. So far you've sold me on the CA Grill brunch and apps at Jock Lindsey's. :rotfl:
In all serious, though, I've heard nothing but amazing things in regards to the bread service from Sanaa; it sounds like a Must Do for any WDW fan. I'm glad it was a wonderful experience for you, despite the scallops not being anything to write home about.

Maybe next week... or the week after... but then I'll be so behind on house work, so... maybe the week after that.

Keep on keepin' on as they say. :) Hang in there, vacation is soon!

Love that shot of you. :)

Thanks! I was surer having fun that night!

But not in May. Unless... you sure you don't want to cancel all your ADRs and FPs?
No?

Probably not.
Ah well! Next time!

Mom is having trouble with her knee so we'll be going even slower than I thought. We may not be in the parks much at all.

Whoops!
I'm betting that's a mistake you make once.

Once.

It won't happen again.

::yes:: It took me a second, but I knew what you were talking about before you posted your photos. :)

;)

Not at all. Those chandeliers are beautiful!

They fit the theming so well there!

For the food? No?

.... a little.

You can do this! Dang it! Now you tell me!

Then again... I prefer the frozen margs and those are rimmed with sugar, so...

They are? Hmm, I get frozen ones only at Disney (but NOT from The Ditch) and they aren't rimmed with anything, so I wouldn't know. Everywhere else I get them on ice.

Again. not the food.
You're not exactly selling this place you know! I can see the animals on the safari!

Keep scrolling.... ;)

I can see that.
I wouldn't mind an adults only place... except I have a feeling it would be even louder than a kids allowed place!

You may be right. With Vic and Al's being the exception.

Niiiiiice spot!

Yes. Yes it was.

You got to see giraffes??? How cool is that!?!?
Okay, I take back my earlier comments.

I know!!! I kinda would love to do the Savor the Savannah Tour someday. Maybe next year.

"You know you're a DISer when..."

LOL!

Calories don't count on vacation.

But they do when you get home. I suspect airplane air is loaded with them.

OH this is a very good theory!

I've heard a lot about this. Some day I might even be able to try it.

I hope you do!

Over cooked, then. There's an art to cooking scallops. And it's a fine one.

They don't possess this "art".

I like it in a smoothie. I LOVE it in the Olive Garden soup. And have a bag in my fridge that I use to toss in a dish I cook now and then. But, tbh, I'd rather eat chard or spinach for leafy greens.

Beautiful shot!

Thanks.... more a lucky shot.

I have read so many good things about the bread service at Sanaa. It's not a place the ladies in my life are likely to go, so I will probably have to leave it for a solo trip, or maybe convince DW to do it on an adults only trip. I used to enjoy the naan bread very much when I was overseas and I have never been able to find the same quality locally where I live. I suspect Sanaa would come close to authentic Asian standards.

I think they do have menu items for the less adventurous eaters out there so they may enjoy it only for the animals while you and wifeypoo try the African and Indian-inspired items. I had the BEST naan in Dubai at a Pakistani place called Ravi's. It was perhaps the best meal I've had in my life. They were cooked on a huge tandoori and served hot and soft. MMM!

Here's a clip from that place I found:

1:50 is a good place to start if you don't wanna watch it all.

This is why you can't find the same quality much, if at all, closer to home.

Oh nooo! This is one of my fears. So far we haven't forgotten a meal yet.

I don't think it'll happen again. But it's easy to do if you get wrapped up in the fun where you are.

A table by the window sounds lovely.

It's so peaceful there and such a restorative way to spend a meal.

I'm sorry to hear that. But not every dish can be great.

That's true but I don't mind a miss now and then because more often I find something new to love.

The thing that really upsets me is the Maritimes (I grew up in PEI) are not represented at all!

And that's not right. I don't know enough about the other country's to know if there is a fair representation of the various areas and cultures in their gift shops, but by the amount of stuff ONLY I'd have to guess they are more thoroughly represented than either the US or Canada.

Com visit! During the year I am about an hour north of Toronto and in the summer I have a cottage on the south shore of Prince Edward Island.

I'd really love that. Someday I'll take some trips that are less Disney.

I love this mug!

Using as I type for some Earl Grey tea. :)

It is just the best! It is our first meal on our trip in July and I can't wait!!

Oh nice!! Enjoy and ask for a quiet table in the back by the window. I promise it's worth it!

It is totally enough for two. On my 2017 trip, I gave it my best effort but only managed about 1/2 and was SO full! I think DH and I will split it and go for the big salad as well.

I approve of this plan. Enough, but not so much you feel overly stuffed. :thumbsup2

D'oh! Hope you at least got some PB&J in the meantime.

I could afford one or two after the $25 Naughty List Fee.

I bet you arrived in a helicopter, too.
As you can see, they were ready.

Having the animals outside there is just magical.

I keep hoping for a repeat of this shot, but not this time.

But I thought calories didn't count on vacation?

Quite right. I think pkondz's theory is best.... airplane air.

I've always wondered what "earthy" means when people describe flavors. Does it taste like dirt? :rotfl2:

Kinda? Beets are the best example I can give.

I don't believe you. It looks like seaweed, and I can't imagine seaweed improving any dish.

Mmm! Sushi!! Da bomb!

This! A thousand times this.

o
I'll chime in :)
For me, it would be more of the hand crafted stuff that most people wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. Admittedly that may not be practical due to supply and importation, but it's nice to think it could be done.
Being Epcot, I'll start with the obvious - alcohol. There are lots of unique craft breweries popping up like Quidi Vidi beer, Newfoundland Distillery (gunpowder & rose rum, seaweed gin), a very unique Iceberg beer, rum & vodka (yes, made with 10,000 year old iceberg water, that would be something different)
There are unique edibles like partirdgeberry and bakeapple jams, chocolate from Newfoundland Chocolate Company, biscuits and cookies unique to the province from Purity Factories or Trinity Bakeshop.
Then you could get into hand sewn/knitted sweaters, mittens, hats, hooked rugs, quilts - all of which are a dying art, but seem to be lasting a bit longer around here.
Maybe even artwork showcasing East Coast scenery. Or jewelry made from Labradorite.
None of this is likely very practical, but it would be nice to show people that there is more than beaver butt soap and hockey pucks in Canada.
I love all of those ideas and I DO think it could be done. Furthermore, I think people would buy it too. I love the idea of the Labradorite jewelry as I too have thought of Oregon sunstone jewelry for representing Oregon at the American Adventure Pav.

Interesting list.
What I don't get is... why aren't they at the very least selling maple syrup? Quebec is responsible for 70% of the world's maple syrup. And... nothing?
That's just the tip of the iceberg. pun may or may not be intended.
Well they do have the maple popcorn- a start. But for sure!! Or maple sugar candy.

A "did you know" section on each province and territory showcasing information. For example....did you know Prince Edward Island has 365 beaches? One for every day of the year! PEI has the warmest swimming water north of Florida due to the proximity of the Gulf stream to the Island. Potato vodka would be a great sell, blueberry wine, beautiful pottery, jam, art etc.

Just having PEI on the Canadian map at the pavilion would be a good start!

As another Canadian with a unrepresented province, what do you think would represent Manitoba?
This is perfect!! I love that and find it outrageous that an entire province isn't even on the map. EPCOT was supposed to be educational, but that gift shop is truly the ridiculous.

See even I didn’t know about the beaches or swimming.

Manitoba... hmmm... honey, jams. Perogies! Hmmm... we’re home to some of the world’s best beluga whale watching and the polar bear capital of the world. Just off the top of my head. Souvenir gold or silver coins. We mint coins for over 30 countries. For little girls dreaming of becoming ballerinas, shoes and tutus from Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Hockey jerseys from the Canadian teams

Anything Winnie the Pooh since he was Canadian.
You all are making me want to travel there!

Keep on keepin' on as they say. :) Hang in there, vacation is soon!

Please hurry.

Thanks! I was surer having fun that night!

:goodvibes Sure looks that way!

Mom is having trouble with her knee so we'll be going even slower than I thought. We may not be in the parks much at all.

Oh, dear. Say hi to her for me.

:smokin:

But meth isn't. Nor here. And yet....

https://katu.com/news/local/meth-tr...ff-oregon-coast-treated-for-possible-overdose

There are still very silly people out there.

:sad2:

.... a little.

;)

You may be right. With Vic and Al's being the exception.

Very true. Can't imagine that place getting rowdy.

I know!!! I kinda would love to do the Savor the Savannah Tour someday. Maybe next year.

Yeah, that'd be a good one. :)

OH this is a very good theory!

I think a study needs to be done.

They don't possess this "art".

Apparently... not.

I like it in a smoothie. I LOVE it in the Olive Garden soup. And have a bag in my fridge that I use to toss in a dish I cook now and then. But, tbh, I'd rather eat chard or spinach for leafy greens.

If I have a bag in my fridge I will toss it too.

Thanks.... more a lucky shot.

Still counts.

You all are making me want to travel there!

It's working!

Be careful...its working on me too.
Didn't plan on that, now did ya? ;)

It's not in the news as much, but we're building a wall to keep you out.

Well... it's really just a short hedge, and quite pretty, but still...

I'll be very curious to see if you ever make it to any of them. :)

I think it is one of the best out-of-the-way hidden gems in that direction. Definitely worth leaving the park for, or doing lunch at Tiffins and dinner at Sanaa. Or the other way around.

Oh, dear. Say hi to her for me.

I will. :) She had a steroid injection yesterday and is hoping it's all good to go in 3 weeks. :)

Very true. Can't imagine that place getting rowdy.

I dunno.... the Scots and I got pretty "rowdy" late the night I was there.:rotfl2:

Yeah, that'd be a good one. :)

::yes::

I think a study needs to be done.

You could seek research funding and them misappropriate it. Happens all the time. :rolleyes2

If I have a bag in my fridge I will toss it too.

Be that way. :snooty: ;)
