Positive thoughts please-ups and downs p.42

Just checking in. How's it going?

I found the first few days with my DH very very busy. He was dependent on me for every meal, every glass of water, helping him getting out of bed every time he needed to get up. But it got better.

Fortunately, he not that reliant on me. So far, he’s just needed me to reach things out of the pantry since he can’t get into it when he’s in his chair. The biggest thing, I guess, is that he always seems to be in the way. Not on purpose of course, but he has a knack for knowing where I’m headed and there he is too lol

That's just being a husband. LOL

I'm glad, it sounds like these are going fairly well (considering). To me it sounded like he would be bed bound.

I hear you my always in my way, well 'almost' always is an 75ish pound retriever who comes to the name Charlie. :dog2: Woof!!

Hang in there you two have got this.

Are you able to tell us how you're actually doing? So, so glad Richard is getting well but it's impossible to ignore that you've both got a butt-ton of work ahead of you. Wishing you both well. :flower3:

We’re doing ok, but there is work to do. He has an appointment on Thursday with the cast people to see how his feet are doing. Then in two weeks he has an appointment with the infectious diseases doctor to see if he needs to stay on the antibiotics. Space wise we’re managing ok. We’re going to look into getting a dietitian to come over and give us ideas on good and bad foods sugar wise. I mean, I know the basics but his numbers are very touchy based on what he’s eating and we’re still doing it wrong. Before he got sick we’d eat and he’d do his needle and whatever the number was, it just was. If it was high he’d just take a little insulin. That’s not going to work any more so we’re both going to learn a lot about what the actual proper foods should be. His numbers are back to normal and were when he was in the hospital. I feel like if he is home for a month and his normal numbers are high again it’s all my fault. Plus, I have a lot of weight to lose So I will benefit from it too. I finally reached the point where I want to lose weight and I’m tired of feeling like this. People have been telling me forever but it’s like everything else, unless you are the one who wants to change, nothing anyone says will change your mind.

:flower3: I’ve known many Type 2 diabetics and yeah, there comes a point for all of them where dietary factors can simply no longer be ignored. Tough to make such big lifestyle adjustments but I’m gtateful the condition can be managed. It’s one of those things where if you can get on track you end up being way better than you were before. I’m sorry (as I’m sure you are too) that it took a life threatening event to be the catalyst.

I’m concerned about you feeling so guilty and responsible for everything. I realize we all develop dynamics within our marriages that work for us but seriously - you are not to blame for the eating habits of a grown man. You’ll be supportive with providing healthy choices but this is not on you!! I hope today is a good one for both of you.

I totally agree. He's an adult an you're not his mother. This is not on you @kimblebee . You need to stop that right now.
