SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Information & Questions

We are headed to Shades of Green next week (woohoo) and two questions I had.

1. What is the Shady Shuttle? We got an email about marathon road closures and it said "the Shady Shuttle will be available to transport guests to the end of our property." I wasn't sure what this was.

2. Does the exchange sell beer/wine and can any guest it? I'm a DoD Civilian and can't normally shop at the exchange.

Thanks in advance!

it's so you don't have to walk, just tip them.
you can't buy alcohol but can buy anything else in there

The Shady Shuttle is a large golf cart. You can ask the bellman for a ride to the end of the driveway if you are headed over to the Polynesian to use the resort monorail, etc. It is about a 15 minute walk from SOG lobby across the street to the Poly. There are times when the shuttle is not available. You can also call to request a return ride on your way back.
You can shop at the Exchange, but if memory serves me correctly, I believe a military ID is required for an alcohol purchase.
Have a wonderful time!!!

Great information! Thanks so much

How do you get phone number for the shady shuttle? Do you just ask at bell services? We've always walked in the past, but taking the grandkids and I think we will be using it more! Also, what do you tip them?

What kind of coffee pot is in the room? It’s been a few years since I’ve stayed there and I can’t remember.

I just called to update the dates on my reservation. I asked if the room remodel updates were still in progress. She told me that refurb in both buildings is completed- all room are updated.

So excited to stay here in April, 46 days and counting!! We have stayed here before (2017) and loved it, can’t wait to see the updated rooms. We have a poolside room so excited for that. We are moving over from the Polynesian, anyone have suggestions for getting our stuff over to Shades from Poly? We have a big oxygen machine for my husband so walking wont be an option and we won’t have a car. Would you just use Uber?? Also, grocery deliver, has anyone had groceries delivered here? I just want to get some basics like bottled water & snacks.

Poly will move your baggage to SOG, and you can use Amazon Prime Now (for example) or Garden Grocer to deliver groceries. It doesn't sound like the simplest option to me, but you can take the monorail to the TTC and catch a bus back to SOG, but an Uber/Lyft (non-MinnieVan) would probably be about $3. We did Lyft from SOG to DHS one morning for an early morning AP event and it was $6.

For those of you who've stayed at SOG and used a shuttle transportation to/from MCO with a toddler, did you rent a car seat??

My kids are 3.5 and 18 months. We travel quite a bit and we bring our own car seats to use on the plane, shuttle, rental car, where ever. I'll admit it can be a pain to lug them around but in my opinion it's the only safe way to go. Rented car seats can be sketchy given that you don't know if they're clean or have ever been in an accident.
