@Haley R , it seems we couldn’t get any good Priceline deals for our trip because of some pro bowl at WWoS. Just saw it on my FB feed.

I did have beach club standard pop up last night for $298 (incl $35 extra adult fee) and I was going to switch but our arrival night wasn’t available so we’d have to do the airport Hyatt that night. I decided to stick with cbr instead since the total cost was still about $200 less and we can go straight to wdw and get settled in our room.
Now it is past my cancellation window, so I can stop obsessively checking for a better deal.:rotfl:
Now you have me checking my Universal reservation. We currently have HRH booked but I could save $80 and book RPR or book PBR for the same price as HRH. Decisions, decisions...It's been awhile since we stayed at HRH. I guess I'll ask DS this afternoon if he has a preference.

Just got a phone call from guess who...a guy from the center doing the global entry interviews. Said my appt Thursday morning has been canceled and to watch for an e-mail from them once the govt is back in business and then I can reschedule my appt. He said they’d be opening up Wednesday’s, Friday’s, and hopefully some Saturday’s for new appts then. Not sure if that’s specific to Dayton or if all of them will be opening up extra times. @CyndiLouWho

Wow this government shutdown is bogus

Thanks...I remember it being mentioned a while back but couldn’t take on more MSR then....trying to plan ahead since our next Chase applications will be for the CF so a small MSR
I wasn't at a great point either for more MSR back then...still not right now...but I was also hoping to see a few DP's before I applied. Maybe whoever applied will see these posts and chime in.

At least you got a for sure answer now, so you can quit worrying about it! I know that was frustrating.

Have any of you applied for the US Bank Business Edge Cash rewards card....looks like you get $200 cash bank on a $1,000 spend...and can get the same for an employee if you add then when you apply.
Wondering how hard/easy this card is to get...and if it shows up your personal credit.....article says no...but confirmation is always good to hear from thoses who have applied

I went for it a couple of months ago but got denied, but that's because I'm a maniac.

As far as I know it does not report to personal credit. USB is more inquiry sensitive than Chase, Amex, etc. Some of their cards are easier to get, some are harder. This one seems like it maybe falls somewhere in the middle.

Out of control. I step away for like 3 days and miss 63 pages? Will try to go back and catch up some, but making no promises.

Love the new thread- having the stuff at the top makes a lot of sense. Many thanks to our benevolent dictator @SouthFayetteFan for getting this up and running. May be time for a new screen name?

Just got instant approval for the United Biz Explorer for P2. Once we hit that MSR, I will have enough URs/United points to book 4 tix to Europe in business for spring break 2020 - just need to wait another few months so I can book. Pretty excited about that.

That is so awesome! Congratsparty:.

Where are y'all going and on United or *Alliance metal?

She certainly wouldn't be able to go in the fall as she would just be starting college then. So, would need to go for at least a semester. She was excited when I told her she would be able to apply but she also is considering Studying abroad one semester also. So, she will need to think this through. Thanks for all the good info!!
Why was I thinking she was the same age as my dd?!? Definitely cannot try for the fall!

How do you handle used gift cards? How long do you keep them? I typically keep the Disney ones until we pay our DVC dues, but not sure on the others.

My new strategy is bundling our deductions. I'm trying to alternate years where we take the standard deduction and then itemize. And put as much of our itemized expenses into the "itemized" year by being strategic with charitable contributions and when we pay property taxes :D It's so fun to find a way to minimize my tax liability HAHA

Yes, this is ancient history on the thread, but its an interesting topic. Lots and lots of people are doing this kind of bundling - esp. high net worth folks who make significant charitable contributions, or medium net worth people who use donor advised funds or personal charitable foundations. It absolutely makes sense, from a tax planning perspective. People are holding contributions for a few years, making a one time contribution to maximize the deduction and in some cases then forgetting to actually dole out the cash to charities. Especially an issue with tech millionaires, apparently. My sister in law does charitable development work, and lots of organizations have seen a slowdown in the giving cycle. Another fun unintended consequence of tax reform!

Current plan is Vienna and Budapest, but it isn't final yet. Looking like a mishmosh of *Alliance - including maybe Polish airlines? I think I saw an option that involved Aer Lingus? I'm trying to piece together a route that makes sense and works with our dates - target is the kids spring break in April next year. Really hoping for only 1 connection, and there is a Polish airlines flight to Budapest from Chicago that is looking like maybe the best option for the long haul section over there. Not expecting Emirates level service, but it is lie-flat, and that is really all I'm going for.

Have fun! We won’t leave until Monday. I used to get super anxious traveling anywhere new because I would get so excited. I used to take pills for it that would make me loopy but I stopped taking them to see if I could deal with it myself. It’s gotten much better but we really only travel to wdw lol. We did go to a couple new places last year and I was fine. It used to be really bad on car trips. Let’s just say we stopped about every 10 minutes at a gas station.

I’m reluctantly going to pack jeans and sweatpants but I really hope I can tough it out and wear shorts. I would think 45 would be fine for me in shorts but maybe not.

the week before Christmas we had similar temperatures....I lived in leggings since they weren’t has heavy as jeans

Thanks....my credit karma shows no inquiries am assuming since I’ve had Chase cards 20 years they aren’t doing hard pulls on my new applications....I’ll probably try for it once I’m done with the MSR on The BBP
