Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

DH and I are staying Jan. 13-19 to celebrate our 22nd anniversary! First trip without the kids so it will be different but we're looking forward to it since we never did take a honeymoon, just stayed one night at a hotel on the beach after our JOP wedding. I surprised him on Christmas and now we only have a few more weeks till we leave!

Have a great anniversary trip :wizard:.

Here's my personal opinion of the Boardwalk Inn. We tried it for the first time in December. The location is great. But, the lobby staff is way below par for customer service. When they cared to answer the phone from our room, they either didn't listen to what the problem was, or promised a remediation and didn't follow through( repeatedly tried to get our letter for the ride back to the airport). Even the staff in the lobby( while dealing with them in person), appeared ignorant talking to each other, confused and we had to walk to another cast member and explain the situation again. We never had staff treat us like this. The resort is super clean. Housekeeping does a phenomenal job. In the future, we would stick with The Yacht Club. Professional well-trained staff that never ignore and are courteous and respectful. We tried it and won't return. Lesson learned.

Sorry you had a not-so-great experience at BWI, but hope you had a good trip overall :).

That all may be but the phone was not answered by anyone at BWI. It was answered by a central call center not even at WDW. They are very prone to not properly pass along requests. Nothing to do with BWI though.
Understood. But, no reason for ignorance or poor advice.

Yep, when you "call the front desk" you are getting a call center somewhere, maybe Tampa or Nebraska. So if you talk directly to the front desk they might not know anything at all about your situation.

Curious as to what your situation was and what did you mean by get a letter for the ride back to the airport?
The letter to ride Magical Express back to airport. The other family members had received theirs by 9 am the day prior to departure. After inquiring three times by 11pm, ( 1- No answer,2- we’ll find out where it is & send it up within the hour( never received it),3-Staff on phone saying they’d send up bell hop to get our bags!( which we didn’t need).
Just a pain. Wanted it for early am departure.

Yup. It could be a call center anywhere. If I need something I stop by the check in or concierge desk.

I am also wondering about the letter. There are so many easy options to the airport--DME, click the Lyft app (or whatever ride share you prefer) car service or rental car.
Getting to the airport is one of those things that I never leave to chance. I do what I can to make departure day as easy as possible.

OP, it sounds like the big problem might have been communication between the call center and the resort. I am sorry you had so many problems. In our experience, it's not the usual order of things at all.
We just like the Yacht Club so much better.Every trip is based on an experience. We never had a bad experience at the Yacht Club. This wasn’t a great experience. Between the noise of the gondola construction all night long( could hear back up vehicle noise from 11pm until 6am) & trying to get The paper for DME, and the smell of fish from Flying Fish it left us with our decision. Boardwalk Inn isn’t our choice. Overall,we had a great time in Disney World.

I found that when I spoke to the staff at the front desk of BoardWalk in person, they were lovely. They went above and beyond to help me.

The staff at the front desk at Wilderness Lodge drove me crazy. Uninformed and not polite. That was several times over the course of several days.

But I realize I can always catch someone on a good day or a bad day. I might be there when the best people are working. Or I might be there when the best people are not working.

What kind of coffee makers are in the BWV studio villas?
Mr Coffee style drip coffee makers usually 10-12 or 4-6 cups per carafe. You'll need to provide your own filters (flat bottom basket style) if you drink a lot of coffee (plus the coffee).

We have been saying the Boardwalk front desk needs improvements for years. When I have posted just like you have, most of my responses have been how wrong I am. Boardwalk is our home resort and we love the resort, bell services and mouse-keeping. We live in Tampa and now make some last minute weekend trips to other resorts. We compared our experiences with front desks at other DVC resorts and completely agree with you.

So they closed it without finding any of them?
Have you tried to call the Hotel directly, (best you can at least, asking the call center to transfer you if possible) to see if they are still there vs. making it to lost and found?

ETA - we check in on Monday. If you haven't heard anything else by then, I'll try to ask the staff what exactly they do with left behind items like shoes. If they have something they do there before sending to central lost and found

I called the front desk and they said to put in an inquiry online with lost and found, which I did the following weekend when I discovered I didn't have all of my things. As of a few days ago, they closed my inquiry because they couldn't find them even though I gave them exactly what the shoes looked like, my room number, exactly where they were, and when we left. I'm wondering if a mousekeeper or the lucky guest who stayed after us is wearing some brand new Merrill, Croc, and Toms shoes now.

DW wants to know if the toiletries are in pump bottles or individual bottles she can take ( steal) as souvenirs? It doesn't matter to me, but she is pretty worked up about this.

As of October, they were still individual tubes.

Doubt it was a guest. :crazy2:

I've heard some rooms have switched to the large pump bottles, and others are still individuals. We were in room 5277 (Inn side) in early December and had the small individual bottles.

You don't say if you are staying Villa or Inn
Makes a difference at this point
Some are switched some aren't
I'm in a cottage right now 1201
Still individual bottles

Clarification They do supply a certain amount of packaged pods for the coffee maker You only need your own filters if you're goig to make more than a pot a day
If you are staying on DVC points, you won't get enough pods for one a day unless you buy more. You'll maybe get one or two and you only get housekeeping services every four days on DVC points.
