*** Official November 2018 Thread - It's Turkey Lurkey Time! ***

Awesome, I hope we both picked a right time to go! I can't stop reviewing AND changing my plans...I changed 3 FastPass times and an ADR yesterday. I feel pretty good about our plans but can't help but be nervous.

I don't know when to start packing, either. I bought a lot of new tops and they're washed and ready to go, but I feel like we're too far out to really know what to expect. We're there 11/27-12/5 and Accuweather has the highs ranging from only 69 degrees to 80 degrees, and lows 52 to 54.
We are there 11/26-12/4. I've been stalking Accuweather as well. I hope the forecast stays exactly the same. The "some rain" day will be on our resort day, which would be fine. I'm trying not to think too much of the "some thunder storms" on 11/27, but that's also a resort day for us, so as long as it doesn't move to the 26th and mess with our flight, I'll be happy. It'll be nice not having to pack warm jackets - that will save a whole suitcase full!

It is really hard to get a really accurate forecast more than 7 days out. Those extended forecasts look at past trends for the same timeframe and make predictions based on those. I will be there the same time and am hoping for the weather to stay that way, but I will definitely be checking the Darksky app two days before we leave for the most accurate forecast.

The weather is GREAT that time of year. We'll be there 11/22-11/30 and were there last year from 11/24-12/1. We live in South Jersey so we're used to cold(and hot) weather so it was PERFECT for us. I think the highest temp was like 85 and that was the day we did AK, so it was a little uncomfortable for about an hour or two in the middle of the day but nothing that riding Kali Rapids didn't take care of! Every other day the high was like 78-82 and at night it got down around 60. We had light zip up hoodies and a couple long sleeve shirts but honestly didn't use them except for the couple real early mornings when we were walking to the bus or for our Lyft pickup. We didn't even think of wearing the jeans we packed. We wore shorts and tees every day and were fine. Like I said, we're from the Northeast where it gets COLD in the winter and HOT & HUMID in the summer so neither bothers us, especially 58 or 60 degrees. If you're from somewhere that doesn't get that cold, you may want to take some long sleeve shirts and/or light hoodies and jeans. My aunt moved from Jersey to Florida almost 40 years ago and now she's soft!!! LOL She's wearing Uggs and a jacket when she comes to visit and it's 58 degrees.

Fellow South Jersian here!

We usually go in August but I am definitely looking forward to November weather at WDW! The heat isn't unbearable to me since NJ summers can be, like you said, very hot and humid, but it has always made it very hard for me to enjoy AK since it gets so much hotter in that park. We usually do one morning and that's even hard for us. This trip I planned a lot more time at AK since the weather won't be as brutal.

Sorry to hear about your daughter :( I was doing research to avoid getting sick on this trip myself and was reading about Elderberry syrup. It's supposed to boost your immune system and cut the length of colds and flu...you may want to try that since I read that it's more effective than zinc. Hopefully it goes away quickly!

I will definitely look into that. Thank you!!

Elderberry syrup does actually work. I work in an Income Tax office and people constantly come in sick during tax season. The one season I took that everyday and I was the only one in the office that didn't get sick. I just ordered some last week to start taking.

I'm off to take my son to the doctor's. He cut his foot at a friend's house yesterday and it is starting to worsen. Weird because yesterday it looked pretty good and he played soccer on it.

Oh good! I'm glad to hear first hand accounts from people who actually take it. I have another Disney friend who takes the gummies religiously and she swears by them. I was SO sick for my September trip I'm doing all of the things to prevent that from happening again. I even got some probiotics to start taking.

I hope your son's foot is alright! Good idea to get it looked at just in case.

I'm going to pick it up after work.

I called her pediatrician and they said if she has a fever and a sore throat tomorrow to bring her in because it could be strep. She says she feels much better and there's no fever since taking Advil at 6 am.

I hope your son gets better!!

I hope everyone who is sick or injured is feeling better soon! We leave in 5 days! :-) So excited. I've got my grocery and Target carts loaded and will schedule the deliveries tomorrow. (The Target order is for non-food items. I'd planned to do an Amazon Prime order, but it ended up working out better to order through Target. We can still get free 2-day shipping with our Red Card.) Tomorrow is also the day when I'm going to do a lot of our trip-related laundry and errands, since I don't work Tuesdays. I want to make some changes to our Touring Plans, but I've been waiting in hopes that TP would finish analyzing the effects of the recent hour and EMH changes. I'm giving it until tomorrow, and then I'm giving up and doing it without the update. Between Halloween, packing, and preparing things for the days I have a sub at work, I'm worried I'll run out of time later in the week.

I'm a preschool teacher, and we've had so many kids out sick lately. It's making me nervous. I need to pick up something tomorrow to hopefully keep all of us healthy.

I’d love to see these lists. I started mine yesterday and I didn’t have a whole heck of a lot to put on it. The weather should be nice so I feel like I need to pack minimal warm clothes. And since we will be in the parks start to finish, what else other than clothes do I need?? This is our first trip and now you have me worried I’m forgetting a whole lot!

I have many lists and they have changed over the years. (started when my daughter was 3 and now she's 32)
If you do a search here on the DIS for what to pack you will probably find lots of info. I don't mean to be unhelpful by not sharing all of mine, but, like I said, they are very long and many of the items, like my medications and mobility aids, may not apply to you and your family. Some general items: sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, hand wipes, spray mister for hot weather, cooling cloths, phone and charger cords, portable charger, camera, extra battery, credit card, license, Magic Bands, health ins. card, poncho, small umbrella, reading glasses, medications, cash, housekeeping envelopes, large carabiner clip for attaching refillable mug to bag, ziplocs of all sizes, moleskin, light sweater for AC...think I'll stop there! :) Good luck in your search.

Definitely the whole list would be daunting. I’m glad you posted about your list at all though because it got me thinking past how many shirts to take. :p I went looking for packing lists and realized I’d never seen the forum for Disney Tips despite being on the boards for 6omths. I guess I never scrolled down that far. I found a lot I should have known to pack, probably would have remembered last minute or right after we left. Now they’re on the list! So thanks for the kick start!

I took DD to the doctor this morning. She woke up with 102.4 fever. Strep and flu tests were negative. They looked a bit "surprised" that it wasn't strep and said they were sending it off for further culture. Her red is really swollen and red. Right now they are saying it's viral and that it is going around. They gave her a dose of Decadron (steroid) before we left. They said it'll take 4 hours to take effect and will last all week in helping the swelling and redness of her throat.

I am going to side that it's probably a virus since I've seen these same symptoms in her when she's had viruses before. High fever with sore throat and nose stuffiness. Once she takes Advil the fever breaks within an hour and she's back to being herself. Bouncing around, eating, drinking, arguing with her brother, etc. Normal 12 year old stuff. LOL DD also said her BFF had the same thing and recently missed 3 days of school too.

I'm just getting a bit nervous. I have trip insurance so if I have to cancel I'm covered. I told the doctor about our trip and when we leaving she said "Have fun on vacation!!" So maybe she's optimistic too???

My son got a script for his foot. The dr said not much can be done besides making sure it doesn't get infected. We're just trying to keep him off it. Dr said he's fine to go in pools and the ocean when we're away. So that's good. I was a little nervous about that. I really think it will be so much better by the end of this week. That might be wishful thinking but I'm stinking with that thought.

My husband takes some kind of immune buster gummy. I hate gummies so I avoid them. But if you like them then take all the things.

Oh no. I hope she feels better quickly. My youngest got really sick before our first trip. Was pretty bad the day before but once she got off the plane was so much better. It was like a Disney miracle. Maybe it's the humid air down there. Who knows. FX for your daughter.

So do you guys want a laugh? Remember how my husband texted me last week asking if my son had shoes to wear to Disney? Well, I had my son try his Keens, that he wore all summer, and then are too small. :rotfl: When I looked at them, they are a size 13 and he wears a 2. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime. I ordered him a pair and they will be here Thursday. I will not be telling my husband about this!:rotfl:

Yes keep that to yourself. Amazon prime is a lifesaver. I don't have it but my coworker does and she ordered my son water shoes for our trip. I wouldn't even know where to look for aqua shoes this time of year. Thank you Amazon.
