*** Official November 2018 Thread - It's Turkey Lurkey Time! ***

We’re 30 days out from my first trip to WDW. I am 35 years old and am quite sure I will cry happy tears A LOT. I teared up yesterday while watching the “Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic” on Demand lol!

We are 30 days until our first trip too! I know I’m going to tear up! I’m so very excited! I don’t know how I’m going to get anything done in the next 30 days. I have all my plans set and yet I review them hourly! I might get fired before we go!

Got all the ADR’s I wanted, but I am a bit worried about our breakfast at AK (Tusker House) on November 4 (our first day)

I understand that it is marathon going on that morning? We have an early ADR’s 8.25 a.m that morning and I am a bit worried about what would happen if it would be a lot of people running and we would be late for our breakfast?

Would you keep the ADR’s?
We are staying at Pop, but I am thinking maybe taking Uber to AK that morning?

We're in the same position. Nov 4th will be our first day in the parks (though there's a chance we'll add a day and go for a few hours on 11/3 if we get in early enough). We have an 8:35 reservation at Be Our Guest, and we're hoping to show up early and be seated closer to 8. I asked a few questions about it over in the transportation forum, wondering how the half marathon would affect our plans. You may want to go do a search in transportation to find the threads. I only got a few replies, but they seemed to think that we would be better off taking official Disney transportation on race days. (There may be alternate routes set up or they may give priority to buses.) They said that the first bus from my hotel would probably be about 6:30 am, and they strongly recommended that we take that one. That's our plan, though we'll have to see if it works out the day of. I'm nervous but not planning to cancel our ADR. There aren't other times available, and I'm hoping Disney will be understanding if we tell them we left plenty of time but were still delayed by the marathon.

We leave Friday and DD just woke up with a head cold. Stuffy nose and a sore throat. She MAY have a low grade fever but i can’t find my thermometer. Ugh!! I gave her some Sudafed and ibuprofen and I’m letting her stay home. She went to a haunted house last night and it was cold and rainy. I figure staying home and not going outside in this cold and sogginess May help. Fingers crossed it’s gone by Friday.

Awesome, I hope we both picked a right time to go! I can't stop reviewing AND changing my plans...I changed 3 FastPass times and an ADR yesterday. I feel pretty good about our plans but can't help but be nervous.

I don't know when to start packing, either. I bought a lot of new tops and they're washed and ready to go, but I feel like we're too far out to really know what to expect. We're there 11/27-12/5 and Accuweather has the highs ranging from only 69 degrees to 80 degrees, and lows 52 to 54.

I'd be happy if she got it now! She will be all good to go by Friday! Just try to keep yourself healthy! My DD is just getting over a cold, but now I'm waiting for the domino effect to happen in the family. I"ll take a cold over a stomach bug though! UGH! Fingers crossed for you!

The weather is GREAT that time of year. We'll be there 11/22-11/30 and were there last year from 11/24-12/1. We live in South Jersey so we're used to cold(and hot) weather so it was PERFECT for us. I think the highest temp was like 85 and that was the day we did AK, so it was a little uncomfortable for about an hour or two in the middle of the day but nothing that riding Kali Rapids didn't take care of! Every other day the high was like 78-82 and at night it got down around 60. We had light zip up hoodies and a couple long sleeve shirts but honestly didn't use them except for the couple real early mornings when we were walking to the bus or for our Lyft pickup. We didn't even think of wearing the jeans we packed. We wore shorts and tees every day and were fine. Like I said, we're from the Northeast where it gets COLD in the winter and HOT & HUMID in the summer so neither bothers us, especially 58 or 60 degrees. If you're from somewhere that doesn't get that cold, you may want to take some long sleeve shirts and/or light hoodies and jeans. My aunt moved from Jersey to Florida almost 40 years ago and now she's soft!!! LOL She's wearing Uggs and a jacket when she comes to visit and it's 58 degrees.

Very true. I went to Walmart on my way to work and picked up Zicam cold remedy chewables, Dayquil and a thermometer. I'm going home on my lunch to check on her and get her some soup. Right before I left she told me she felt a lot better after taking the Ibuprofen and Sudafed and that she was sweating. I told her it was probably a low grade fever (but I didn't have a thermometer this morning so I'm not sure) and to just rest. I usually send them to school when they have a cold but since we have this trip Friday I would rather her stay home and try to get better.

I'm going to start popping vitamin C myself so I hopefully don't catch anything closer to Friday or while we are there.

Good health vibes to everyone that needs them. 5 days and a ton to do.

Ordered another pair of ears couldn’t resist

I love those!

Is anyone going to see the Space X launch on the 27th? That just happens to be our bonus day that we got when our flight was cancelled and we moved it a day earlier. We aren’t going to a park and were going to have a resort day. But then I found out there’s a space x launch and that seems so neat to see. However, it’s crazy expensive! It would end up being $100 a person (5 of us!) to see it up close or $50pp to see it from the space center but not at the launch viewing areas. I’m wondering if there are good free spots to see the launch from that would make it worth renting a car and giving up our bonus resort day?

That sounds awesome!

We surprised the kids today and man were they excited. My 5 year old daughter absolutely exploded with tears. Through sobs and sniffs she kept saying “it’s happy tears, it’s happy tears!” My 7 year old son was bouncing off the walls. He ran right upstairs to find his hidden mickey book and then the two of them were looking through it for a while. 9 more days!!!

Your kids are so sweet.

Yahoo, our MBs arrived Saturday!! It's feeling real now! Still figuring out when to tell the kids (11, and 13). Definitely want to wait until after 11/12 (we leave 11/20).

Love this!! I am surprising our kids as well. They are 11 and 13. Today is DD's 11th birthday and next week is DS's 13th. His Bar Mitzvah is on 11/10 and I am going to surprise them after that. I am thinking mid week on the 14th or so. It's hard because they will miss three days of school for this trip and the schools are not very nice when kids miss for family trips, so I have been trying to figure out a way to let the teachers know and get work for them to do, without them then telling the kids. I might tell my 13 year-old and let him be in on the surprise for his sister so he does not have the added stress of dealing with teachers, etc. I just hope they are as excited about it as I am.

Sorry to hear about your daughter :( I was doing research to avoid getting sick on this trip myself and was reading about Elderberry syrup. It's supposed to boost your immune system and cut the length of colds and flu...you may want to try that since I read that it's more effective than zinc. Hopefully it goes away quickly!

I will definitely look into that. Thank you!!

Pretty successful weekend. Got my magicbands on Saturday, and got a TP Reservation alert that a later dining time opened up for our F! package dinner at H&V on 11/23 so we won't have to eat dinner at 4pm and was able to move it to a more reasonable time of 6pm.
And...was FINALLY able to make a reservation for Thanksgiving day! I snagged an ADR at Boma. :banana:Initially we didn't make any reservations for Thanksgiving day since we're doing the JBJB dessert party at 8pm, but I was getting nervous about relying on quick service and since it's our arrival day I didn't want to be hangry and in the parks with no food and crowds. But, I couldn't find anything for any restaurants we wanted to eat at. So, I looked this morning and lo and behold a 3:30 ADR popped up, which is excellent timing wise because we'll be at AK for our FP's, and then can shoot over to AKL for our ADR before heading to OKW to check in and hopefully grab a quick nap before heading to DHS for the evening. We're all pretty excited since we've been wanting to try Boma but never have.
I feel like everything is starting to come together!

We are 8 days from our arrival. I have absolutely nothing done. My son was diagnosed with an ear infection on Saturday. At least he will be done with his antibiotics this weekend. I have a ton to do this week for cub scouts and Halloween. It is also my mom's birthday this week and she wants to go see a display at the gardens near us and I can't put it off until after vacation because it ends while we were gone. I just want to get into Disney mode and I have no time to do it.

5 days!! This weekend I ordered some flare for the Christmas party, planned out our shirts for the week and ordered groceries, I also just called in my room request. The weather looks pretty decent to perfect for next week. I can't believe it is here!

YAY! So many of us are eating at Boma for Thanksgiving :goodvibes and this is when we can meet! Our reservation is for 3:00 so we'll definitely be there at the same time!

I'm from western PA, so our weather is similar to yours. I was actually hoping to wear leggings and jeans just because I prefer them over shorts, but I'm preparing for all seasons! I bought 3 spirit jerseys so I'm wearing those suckers no matter how hot is is lol! Mid-70s would be awesome, as it's currently 29 degrees here!
