We love Better Call Saul but we've never watched Breaking Bad. My Wife studied improv with Bob Odenkirk in Chicago.
Dh and I tried to watch Better Call Sal. after about a season or two we stopped watching. Is it still on?
That being said, I agree that it does seem far fetched to jump to Alzheimer’s at this point
I think the flashback from last season where they both looked overwhelmed emotionally to go see her, coupled with their age, made some of us think they just might be going to a nursing home or some sort of facility to see Beth. Because it appeared to be a devastating decision simply to go. Like they needed to push themselves.
I said I wondered if it was Beth and that she had dementia, based on that scene last season. And my own family. Just wondered. But then I openly thought how the majority of black families tend to care for their loved ones at home and it didn't quite fit (And for disland - obviously that doesn't mean all!)
But whatever the reason for going to see "her" my head said it was Beth. And especially since it was such an intimate moment for Randall and his daughter.
But I now doubt that is where they are going on the show - in general, the reasons I listed above and because Toby was added to the scene this season.
Who knows. Interesting to hear everyone's perspective.
-------------
As for this season I can see why Beth might be having her moments because of who she is married to and the role she has taken on all these years, the rock. And getting let go so abruptly after so many years.
I just LOVED that scene between Beth and William. How wise was William. How brilliantly written. So real Beth's struggle. She has this big hearted husband, isn't she lucky? But like so many people they have their priorities mixed up. Good men who will do anything for the world - for others close to them, for charity etc. But their spouse is depleted. Sorry to be so ridiculously sexist, it is just that I have seen so many men around me do the exact same thing as Randall - good men, so generous, so giving with their time and skills. But forget to fill up at home first. And go from there.
Beth is really suffering and needs a soft place. But her soft place is way too busy helping everyone else.
Since I am four episodes behind on posting here is my novel -
The subtle and blatant racism is well written across the board.
As is Kevin being oblivious to that and other issues in his scenes.
I laughed when @kimblebee reminisced about the sleuthing during season one. My sleuthing was in gold medal form I said from minute one I bet Miguel is a good man.
And @kimblebee I actually said to the tv there is some hometown music for you kimblebee The Guess Who. We won't even comment that Lenny Kravitz' didn't really get the 'a' side of that 45. 45 shows my age!
@ronandannette - So many of us are totally self absorbed in real life. Why wouldn't characters be?
And the episode many on here didn't like, I just loved. I really like thinking about where lives would have went if they had made a different decision in life ie Rebecca and the man that wanted her to go to NYC. I find that "one different choice" beyond fascinating. My own parents had a similar history.
I didn't really know of him outside of BrBa and the fact I disliked his character so intensely probably blinded me to considering the actor. In BCS he's demonstrated some of the same abilities that I admire in Bryan ********. Very underappreciated talent IMO.
********
I think it's my favorite TV show of all time. Ironically I went into it very skeptical because I loathed Saul on BrBa.
On BrBa Bryan ********'s talent did the impossible and made me loathe the character he was playing, even though I adore the actor. On BCS Bob Odenkirk's talent has done the impossible and made me fall in love with his character, despite loathing him on the prior series. I thought BrBa was an incredibly well done series, one of the best ever, but stressed me out more and more as the seasons went by. For me BCS has been an improvement on incredible writing, acting and a masterful eye for detail -- including some of the most achingly beautiful cinematography I've ever seen.
ETA Why is ******** starred out?
Just looked...******** does have a double meaning that isn't super DIS friendly.,..

I'm guessing that Nicky is alive. Maybe there was some sort of love triangle between between the girl with the necklace and both brothers falling for her. Nicky chose to stay behind with her and asked jack to tell everyone he was dead.
Nervous breakdown or not, it's obvious from the job interview scene that she was just overwhelmed by the pain and loss of being fired. She even said so, very plainly to Randal later in the episode. Very upfront and direct about trying to express her feelings and her need for him at this time. It's one of the more "true to life" storylines this show has ever had - I'm not sure why everybody went off chasing zebras when the "horse" was right there. This has been my thinking since last week's episode or there is another Pearson sibling out there.
Beth is about to have a nervous breakdown. I know it because I've been there I was fired for my job after 4 years of stress and I literally couldn't think of interviewing for a new job without getting nauseous and depressed. My ex didn't understand it at all and truthfully me losing my job was the road to our divorce. Beth has been through a lot in the last 1 or 2 years she needs emotional help and support. Randall has to let some of his quest go to support his family or he will lose them.

And finally in Season 3 there's something I can at least loosely relate to.I think because the theory of Beth and dementia just went viral on the internet. I saw that the other day on another forum and I was like "What?"
Honestly, when watching that scene I took it at face value. As the interview panel probed her on her experience at her last company and Beth started talking about being let go after helping to establish the company and working there for 12 years--well I took it as the first time that it really sunk in for her how awful it probably was.
Testing...dick van dyck
Made me laugh out loud.
