Thanks, DH is doing very well, all things considered.

Good gravy! Your itinerary is awesome! Boom, my work is done. Lol Thank you for this amazing vacation you just handed me. I should be able to convince hubby this is the way to go. :cloud9:

Hope it works! I looove NM and spent two awesome summers making costumes at the Santa Fe Opera. When we got married in January of last year I wanted to go on a honeymoon somewhere relaxed with snow and mountains but also lots of interesting things to see and do - so we went to Santa Fe! Now I dream up trips to go back there (and everywhere else, really) for fun.

The more interesting thing is the mods decided to delete it, and duff insinuated they'll be taking a harder stance on specific things being discussed.

If they're not even allowing this? That place is going to be totally useless.
Luckily we have this place and DISchurners which are pretty useful. :)

Let's all agree to one rule though...Nobody mention DISboards OR DISchurners on r/churning! Please and Thank You :)

Are you serious? That's the big controversy everyone keeps reporting so it gets deleted?

Wow.
Yeah, there was something else right before it (or after it) that was taken down before it could be recovered so I don't know what it was, but it was also not terribly outrageous. But the two events converged and managed to explode with fallout into the DD thread too.

It's a little fun and totally sad simultaneously.

Yep lol. Are you guys gonna vote to ban me from the DIS for saying that here? :)

Wow.
Yeah, I can’t deal with that kind of drama. IRL or on Reddit. I really have little interest in reading much there. I prefer our little drama free corner.

I was ready to jump over the counter at Five Guys this evening. The cashier goes “this feels like metal” and he proceeds to tap my beautiful Gold on the counter. I said it is metal. And he says oh, I’ve felt one of these before. I almost to put out by Plat and CSR so he see could other versions of metal cards :) And oh how I love DS11, he requested that I play Peter Cetera for him.

It will be scratched after a few swipes...shame they get battered and bruised so easily.

We'll shun you! :rotfl2:

I don't know this place you speak of.

So the 2nd ebayer to make an offer that I still think is the first guy I blocked because the bid was 8.64 which is just weird and his last had been 8. But they messaged me asking why they are blocked. Going to ignore it, what am I supposed to say, umm I think you're this other guy and I don't trust you and then they say they aren't. One's from the US the other is from Cali so there's no way to know. I almost just want to take the stupid thing down and not even deal with it but will wait and see what happens.

I am very thankful I found this thread. I don't "get" reddit, but I peeked over there and read for a bit tonight. Just wondering what is the point of the thread if they can't share any helpful information? I guess this group is small enough that it won't push the boundaries and all, but if there are so many people there that they can't talk about what they are doing then why does it even exist?

r/churning has gotten too big for its own good. There are 145k subscribers in that subreddit. Subscribers. That’s not even counting lurkers. And no way are all 145k subscribers even active participants. There’s no way to know how anything that gets posted there will be used or abused. And a lot of it ends up as fodder for the bloggers.

Congratulations on the SPG Lux!

Honestly, I've thought about moving all our URs to my wife's CSR and downgrading mine. I've shifted most of my dining spend to the Amex Gold (even though I know Chase has a broader "dining" category that more consistently codes for 3x UR, and I find Amex isn't accepted at a lot of places), and I don't have enough travel charges to earn enough 3x URs to justify the cost of continuing holding the CSR (when I still have the CIP, which also earns 3x UR for travel). I'm weighing downgrading the CSR when my AF comes up in January, but not before I use up the $300 travel credit that resets in December.

A few more thoughts: I've got more Priority Passes and GE/TSA Precheck credits than I know what to do with (and since Chase limited the CSR’s PP to 2 guests, it’s not any better than the PP from other cards)! The Plat has better extended warranty (2 years) than the CSR, so there's little reason to put big purchases on the CSR since Chase got rid of price protection. The CSR does offer better trip interruption/cancelation insurance, and primary rental car insurance.

Chase gives you 30 days after the AF is billed to cancel and receive a full refund. After 30 days, no refunds for cancelations. However, Chase gives you 30 (I've also seen up to 40) days to product change to a no AF card and get a full refund. After that, you can still get a prorated refund for product changes.

If DH got his CSR 2 years ago, his $300 travel credit is still on the calendar year, and should reset after his December statement date. I'm guessing DH's AF will post on 11/1. Say DH pays the $450 and keeps his card through December to use up the travel credit, he should still be able to get at least a $375 refund when he PCs to a Freedom. So $300 travel credits at a cost of $75.

(Someone please check my math. :teacher: It's early and I'm still sipping my coffee. :surfweb:)

Thank you! Even a dance party. Honestly doing the upgrade was a bit of a spur of the moment “well it is meant to be decision.” Ironically enough before I got on there to check first thing this morning (also pre coffee) I had pretty much convinced myself that the move that makes the most sense was to get DH a Plat in December. Which I really don’t want to do just because “I want a Plat of my own...he won’t even appreciate it or care or know what it is.” While not necessarily a reluctant P2 he definitely does not want to call or deal with it and so an upgrade is an easy way to navigate around any possible drama. Plus, that way I am not saying here is yet another brand new card to use. Just told him use this one again now. I know he trusts me and appreciates the results of all this scheming but the having more than 2 cards to carry at a time is too much for him.

I agree with @Lain Check your DHs account to see 1)when the AF posted last year and 2) when his travel credit will reset (it’s posted on the UR page) I triple dipped the travel credit and downgrade to CFU and they credited the AF. So they paid me a hefty sum to have that CSR.

Busy day but I just checked and his AF posted November 1 last year and says credit will post December. Once the credit posts I will use it and then get back on here and no doubt need help figuring out when to actually contact them about the product change. Triple dipping the credit like that would be awesome.

I am inclined to keep the CSR just for the car insurance, but since I have one and we rent through Costco with the 2 driver benefit having two CSR’s does not make as much sense. Now if Disney would come back to UR’s then I would feel okay about keeping it. I just am not optimistic.

Thank you guys! :)

I also tried reading the Reddit group, but never posted there. Many of the people in the group seem very greedy.

By mid-afternoon I am fine with pretty much any ride, especially at MK. The other parks are a little more limited, but I just don't want to be spending an hour waiting in line for a 3 minute ride, whatever it is.
Did I read above
Did I read your going Christmas weekly was that someone else......if so..not sure if crowds have gone down that week in 30 years but we tried going for a day once back then when visiting my sister in FL...total novices.way before fast passes and the line for Pirates was 3 hrs. At 1pm....if it’s that week I’d recommend rope drop...and booking fast passes a bit later

Swear I made that request within the time you mentioned above and got denied. I should have HUANCA :( Is it different for Biz?

I KNEW I should have bought them last night instead of putting it on my to-do list for today. Oh well, hopefully there will be some other good Disney GC deals soon.
Oh no! I was waiting for my Gold to get here to buy more. The email said it was going to the end of the month.?

I do think Slinky Dog is that great. We LOVED it! And TSM is easy to rope drop now. We also love Mine Train and fast pass it multiple times per trip.
As far as single rider we always single rider Test Track. Agree with everyone else, it’s useless on RnR except early in the morning but at that time the regular line is good too. We used it once this last trip when the main line jumped to 30 minutes and it worked. Wouldn’t even try it after that. EE for some reason seems more efficient even though the seating is the same as RnR.
I was not that excited about it until I read this, thanks.

Yikes, hope your DH gets better soon! All those options in Albuquerque sound good to me. Perhaps consider adding the Petroglyph National Monument to your list there, or a Breaking Bad tour if you like that show (I never got to do the Sandia Tram but my family said it was really cool). It looks like there are some decent, easy hiking trails by the National Monument or along the Rio Grande in town.

For one day in Santa Fe: I would recommend driving up early and starting the day with breakfast at the Plaza Cafe on the historic Plaza in the middle of town (my favorite place in town for blue corn pinon pancakes closed down a couple years ago, but the ones at the Plaza Cafe were almost as good) and spend the morning walking around the area exploring all the small shops and art galleries. St. Francis Cathedral is pretty, but you can also see the San Miguel Chapel, or the floating staircase at the Loreto Chapel. If it's the weekend, there will probably be Native American artisans displaying handmade goods for sale on the walkway outside of the Governor's Palace - they are expensive but all their work is certified to be locally made (unlike some of the souvenir shops that sell stuff that they say is authentic but is actually made overseas). For museums in that immediate area, I can recommend the Georgia O'Keeffe museum, the New Mexican History Museum, and the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts. I also like The Shed for lunch - their mocha cake is to die for! If you are feeling like more art in the afternoon, you can spend hours browsing the galleries on Canyon Road, or drive to Museum Hill to see the International Museum of Folk Art, among others. Or, if you want to take a hike, I like the Aspen Vista Trail, which is on the way up to the ski basin and is a very easy, low-grade out-and-back. I would also be remiss if I didn't plug Meow Wolf, which is run by an art collective and is sort of an....unusual take on an art museum. It's fascinating and wonderful and if you enjoy the immersion of Disney World I think you would LOVE Meow Wolf. We spent four hours there on our honeymoon. Finally, we had a great meal at The Compound, if you want to splurge for dinner. If not, Maria's on Cordova Rd. has great posole and margaritas!

One day in Los Alamos/Bandelier/Valles Caldera: I'd start in Los Alamos at the Bradbury Science Museum, which is mostly about the history of the nuclear program and how Los Alamos was settled (and I believe it is free). From Los Alamos you can drive to Bandelier National Monument and see the cliff dwellings there, and also take a few easy hikes along the base of the canyon. If you have time, I'd loop through the Valles Caldera National Preserve on your way back to Albuquerque for a scenic drive - it's the remains of an ancient volcano and it's really quite impressive! I haven't been there, but the Jemez Pueblo apparently has a visitor's center you could check out, again, if time allows.

One day in Taos: It might be difficult or inconvenient to fit this in if you have to stay in the same hotel your whole trip - it's easiest to tack Taos on to a stay in Santa Fe. If you are able to work it in, the High Road to Taos is a scenic drive that takes you through several small historic towns like Chimayo and also has sweeping views of the high desert and pine forest. Taos has their own historic Plaza that is worth poking around, plenty of art galleries, shops, and restaurants, as well as the scary-but-beautiful Taos Gorge bridge. However, the main draw is the Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage site and National Historic Landmark. The tribe has been living there for 1,000 years and you can take a guided tour to learn about some of their traditions as well as the history of the Taos Pueblo revolt of the 17th century. Really fascinating and I recommend making the trip if you can. Also, try frybread. So good. (Since people do still live there, the Pueblo might be closed to visitors during religious ceremonies - check the calendar before you make the trek).

Phew. Okay, that's my Cliff's Notes itinerary. Any questions, feel free to ask!
I also appreciate your input. My BFF and I were planning on a long weekend trip to Santa Fe last year, I didn't get around to researching so we canceled. This is great, will have to reschedule in the future.

Wow I was busy yesterday and missed all the drama. I’m conflicted on whether that information should be shared. I don’t mind sharing with our group (and I have before) because we are small. But it seems like everything that’s getting shared on Reddit lately is dead within two weeks.

I am also making a lot of money with GCM. Sooooo I really don’t want it getting killed, but I’m sure it will be.
