Price gouging

As most of you I love Disney. I have been coming to the parks and staying at the resort for 14 years. But the latest decisions being made by Disney‘s corporate entity about charging for parking at the resort and increasing parking at TTC is just petty greed on their part. I’m curious as to when they will feel that enough money is enough. My hope is they will again make Disney just a little more affordable for those of us who love it as much as we do. I know there will not be a response from Disney on this. But I would like to know how my fellow Disney lovers feel, because I am upset about those issues as well as ticket increases and increases in food items. They are really really starting to bring me down about my whole experience. If you read all of this then thanks for allowing me to vent!!

I love first growth Bordeaux wine. I wish they would drop prices down to $100 a bottle so I could afford it every now and then. After it crossed $100 25 years ago I stopped buying. I thought the price would peak but no. The price is up over $1000 a bottle now and more popular than ever. Just like Disney. In 10 years you will be kicking your self for not going in 2018 when the prices of the rooms were under $500 per night, an annual pass was less than $1,000, a meal for a family of 4 was less than $200. In 10 years from now they will be charging $1,200 per night at the values, the annual passes will be $2,500, and a meal for a family of 4 will be around $500.

I truly understand where you’re coming from. But the ever increasing prices based solely on decisions that only affect the bottom line are completely Ludacris. The Disney Corporation makes billions per year. Coming here is a fantastic luxury but the cost is phasing out 95% of long time visitors. I have friends who a few years ago could marginally afford coming here. Now with the increases for park passes parking food and accommodations it gets them out of reach and that is sad !!

Price gouging is more when prices are raised on things people need in the event of a shortage. Disney has always been a luxury, my family could not have afforded it when I was a kid and I grew up just fine. We went tent camping for vacations. Disney price will never get lower, that's for sure!

It is a business and they will raise prices as long as people sill pay for it. Yes, it is all about the bottom line. It's called capitalism and the free market.

Please don’t think I am hating on Disney I love this place. I am here now. But I paid 22 for parking Monday and Tuesday it increased to 25. All snacks and beverages have increased from there already ridiculously high prices to the point that’s almost laughable. And yes they are price gouging because if you’re the only provider for service you can charge what you wish. I just look back in time to when I began coming to the parks and to what they charge now and it is definitely far far above the cost of any operating increase. It has become more of a moneymaking machine and not so much about the fun anymore For them.

And yes they are price gouging because if you’re the only provider for service you can charge what you wish.

But they aren't. Price gouging is marking up plywood 100% when a hurricane is coming and people need to board up windows. Food prices at a theme park that no one needs to go to going up isn't gouging. Sure you need to eat, but you can bring your own food and drinks into the park or leave the park and Disney property to eat elsewhere. They aren't holding you captive, though it seems you see it that way.

I don't think it's price gouging. Yes it's expensive but going to Disney isn't something we have to have. They are a business and can charge whatever they want to charge. As a consumer, we decide how and where we spend our money. When it gets too expensive we wont go.

I really hope I’m not upsetting anyone over this issue besides Disney corporate executives. It’s just that they are phasing out people could barely afford to come here to begin with. Thankfully me and my family do not fall under that category but I know a lot of families who would really like to enjoy these parks but you cannot afford it and again that is sad .

I don't imagine you are upsetting anyone. There are A LOT of things families would like to do that they don't have the money for. That's life, you can be sad for them but I save my empathy of people in real need (like not enough food or a place to live.) There is real poverty in this country and the world.

I really can’t understand why people are defending these price increases. If you have been here as many years as I have. Are you shareholders? The increases they are implementing our uncalled for. Again they make billions and billions per year from these parks why increase prices and penny pinch us to death.

Disney is a vacation. Many people can't afford any vacations.

You are on the budget board. People on these boards can squeeze a nickel.

Our family trips are always within our family budget. We eat one counter service a day and food back at our resort.

We all make choices based on our budgets.

Prices go up on everything. We adjust our spending or we don't do it.

We enjoy Fort Wilderness cabins. If that becomes out of our budget, we'll stay offsite.

I'm sensing that op is trying to stir the pot.

The Rule.

This place is completely awesome. I am just venting because they increase prices and increase prices and then they increase the price is some more. When is enough money for Disney?

I am staying offsite right now because my budget would not allow me to stay there this year. But that’s OK parks are still amazing.

If you’re stating that I am trying to stir the pot you are 100% correct. If enough of us who go every year complain then maybe they will listen!!! But I highly doubt it!!!!

Stirring the pot on the Dis isn't going to do anything. If you want Disney to know what you think you need to actually contact them via their email. There's no way anyone at Disney is reading the budget board, though I'm sure they read other areas of the Dis.

And if you are there on vacation, be present and enjoy it instead of complaining about something that won't change.

You wish. Daisy Land will fit in one parking lot at Disney World. But if I’m ever in California and can afford it it is on my bucket list
