New ticket system coming to WDW - Begins October 16th

Cheese on rice this is too complicated for my sleep-addled brain. I just want to knoe6if I should buy our 5 day tickets for Feb now or after the change.

So, if you wanted to go on a cruise in between your stay, you don't have the days to save those tickets. Right now, I could buy a 4 day ticket that's good for 14 days, do 2 days at the parks, then cruise for 7 days and come back to use my remaining 2 days at the parks. It doesn't sound like this will be possible anymore. They allow for breaks in between your time at the parks, but they want to keep you coming to the parks, or at least paying for the park time. You can't do 2 days at WDW, take 2 days for Universal, then a waterpark day and still go back to WDW on that same ticket. At least that's how I'm reading it. I hope I'm wrong.

Yep, that’s how your reading it. Now instead of leisurely taking 14 days to spend more money, you get kicked out early.

Someone didn’t take their campers and cruisers into consideration with this new enhancement.

Disney doesn't want you to go to Universal during your Disney trip. Of course they are going to make it harder to leave the bubble for other Orlando attractions, can't really fault them for that, of course you can find it annoying though.

Perhaps they will work something out with cruise packages, remains to be seen.

A 4-day ticket can be used over a 7 day period.

So 2 days at WDW, 1 waterpark day, 2 Uni days, still gives you 2 more WDW days within that 7 day period.
Yeah but in this hypethical the person wanted to go on a 7 day cruise in between those 4 days...not gonna work unless they come out with a special "cruise" ticket that would accommodate this situation.

EDIT: Ok - so the person was not wrong about their cruise scenario...but was wrong about the Universal scenario, LOL...

No my answer was not to the cruise person it was the person who stated 2 Disney, 2 Uni, 1 waterpark day.

For a cruiser, it would be more advantageous to do all park days prior to the cruise.

Ok yeah - I re-read it. It was a weirdly worded post. I can't do this thing with the cruise...I also can't do this thing with Universal. I hope I'm wrong...well you were half wrong then, LOL!!!

So if you buy your tickets for cheaper day(s) and add the Flex Option for $50, you can use them whenever you want and have 14-days to use them?

Or do you still have to pay the difference when you show up to use them over a holiday week versus a low crowd time

I’m sure I’m missing something here

I'm just curious how this would impact split stays... we tend to go for 12 or more days but only visit WDW for 5/6 days spread throughout our trip.

Do you think length of stay would be granted to those of us with multiple resorts booked?

From the video:

1) There is a +20% premium on specific days in November ($81 vs $97, for a 4-day ticket). I wonder what Christmas week will be... +50%?

2) There are still multi-day discounts. 2 days is from $100/day, 5 days is from $69/day.

3) Per the video, the lowest prices are available (only?) in February and March.

Interestingly, the case they showed (4-day ticket in November):

- 4-day ticket says "from $79/day". But for November, the lowest possible price is $81 a day. But most 4 days stretches you will actually be paying an average per day above $90.

- Current 4-day tickets are "from $79/day". So for November, it appears to be a ~14% increase. The specific 4 day span in the video is an increase of 8%.

Overall, it seems a good deal more expensive. But it's complicated enough to make apples to apples comparisons difficult.

I also wonder if this will be dynamic... if people keep picking the cheapest option, will that option get more expensive? It would not be hard (at all) to program that in...

I shudder to think what the AP prices are going to be next year...

My thoughts exactly, and how will tiering be done to block passes for the months following the opening of galaxys edge

I'm thinking about buying a couple of AP vouchers just in case but of course it's right before my trip now so i wasn't planning to spend that much at this time :headache:

I'm not angry, lol. Just calling something like I see it - and there is definitely truth to what you say above that it depends on the style of guest.

EASY to me was: I want to go to Disney for 5 days...I buy a 5 day ticket...I can use it anytime over 14 days...cool. I can use it anytime I want...cool. I don't need to plan my dates in advance...cool. The ticket costs the same whether I go Christmas week or the 2nd week of September...cool. All that apparently is going away with this major shift.

I guess what I'm leaving out is my preference is I will not pay for easy and my preferences for a Disney trip probably aren't as "easy" as they could be :). I will concede, you are correct, that easy still exists. You don't have to book ADRs, book FPs, try to go during a low crowd me and apparently now you're welcome to pay $100 extra per ticket to use your ticket any day.

I don't think either of us is wrong - probably all in your perspective and preferences :)

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. Nothing wrong with calling it as you see it. I'm just taking a wait and see attitude about it. There are advantages to the way they currently have pricing, but let's see what this new model is all about.

I hope it never changes, but I do enjoy that you can go to WDW without a ton of planning if you want to. Actually, I think it's great that you can be on both ends of that spectrum...plan morning to night or don't plan at all.

I'm as interested as the next person to see how this all shakes out. We'll see. For me, as much as a WDW lover as I am, what would give me a sour taste would be if they start charging guests for all FP+. In other words you don't even get 3 FP+. I suspect that day is coming, and if/when it does, I won't be happy, but until then...

I believe if you added the use anytime "flexible date" option then you'd have the 14 days to use them. They've thought of the cruisers - and thought they could pay a bit more. :rolleyes1

Could the "Flex" option be dynamically priced?? i.e. will it cost more to add it to a ticket in a low period vs. a ticket at peak time??

So, I just got off the phone with a CM and I can't upgrade without canceling my current tickets, which I'm not going to do because I have everything booked. She said they don't have the prices yet. However, if it's ridiculously expensive, I'll just cancel the reservations DH and I have for the additional days we planned to visit. I will go to US instead. I may just check into the tickets now as DH and I will be in Florida 4 days prior to my DS and family arriving. We had not planned on going to Uni because of the extra cost, but if it's going to cost more to add 2 days, why not? Ah well, there's an upside!
