I love credit cards so much!

Does anyone have any knowledge on US Bank business cards? I applied for the US Bank Business Edge card on Sun evening, have called the automated line but it still states that it's under review. I've never had a US Bank card so I'm wondering what this means. I haven't been able to find many DP's for them. This is the card that is $200 cash back after $1k spend, and supposedly bonus cash back given for each employee card.

I can't find the post now...who opened the card that had the $200 cash back on $1000? Employee cards get same bonus. Did you get approved?? It was a biz card but I cannot remember which one. Thinking about going for that one while I hem and haw about Hilton and Amex plat :-)

I've actually considered whether we should ever start a new thread - this one has soooo many pages. And like you said we could be a little more conspicuous with the name maybe (although we do want newbies here to find us so that presents a challenge...)

Yeah I actually think it might be better to downplay the credit card angle in the title. As I said earlier, I was looking for info into how to find good airline awards using AMEX MRs and this was either the top or the 2nd hit in Google. So that might mean it's too easy for (yeah, I guess I'll earn my tin foil hat here today) banks and CC people to find.

I definitely want DIS newbies to find us but it’d be nice to not be found so easily through google. It’s a dilemma for sure.

I agree, but I also think any DIS newbie who is thinking about this and wanders onto the budget board will find this thread. I didn't find if because I wasn't looking for the info to help me pay for Disney trips but for something else. I wish I'd found it sooner.

No comments for 12 minutes...you guys didn't start the new thread and leave me behind did you??? :rotfl2::rotfl:

:rotfl:

@SouthFayetteFan - new title/name for thread could be something like Travel Rewards or something that does not directly say Credit Card but does tell people we discuss travel.

Travel for Less
Maximize Your Travel Budget

Or maybe use Vacation instead.of Travel.....

Encourage people to use acronyms in posts...especially CC.

Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

I think if we do start a new thread and change the title, we should have it be somewhat 'cryptic'. Something that hopefully other DIS'ers would want to click on but nothing you'd plug into a google search, like 'cheap travel'. And definitely nothing with 'credit cards' in the title!

The only thing is you don't want it so vague or off topic so to speak that we end up with unrelated topics. In some ways there's already too many questions that get asked about CC's with their own thread that could get an answer here much faster so you don't want that to increase but also don't want it getting confused/crossed with the GC thread more than it already does.

I do think at some point the thread does run out of room on the board because I know on the resorts boards there are 2nd versions of at least one or two of the resort specific threads.

The other issue is until this one falls off, unless we can find the moderator for the BB to lock it, people will still post in it and no one will want them to be ignored. Even with the last post saying to here - new thread! It'll still happen, people read but not always thoroughly enough :)

ETA the current thread will still be searchable and found on google which would still end up directing people to the new thread in most cases. For one, there's a lot of lurkers so we'd have to post the link or thread title in it to make sure everyone can find it. Then we're basically back to what we have but with a somewhat more organized thread since things could be made on the first page to link important stuff to and update etc. Or that stuff just gets linked in the reddit like it is now and we continue on with our tinfoil hats.

DISchurners...the new best kept secret to cheap and free travel!

A little play on the DVC slogan LOL!

You are so right. We would need to get this thread locked so it would go away otherwise, people will keep posting in it, and we are too nice to ignore so people will keep answering.

I also agree on the other CC questions that get posted off this thread. I'm always scratching my head as to why they didn't just post here. This thread is clearly very, very active! If we don't put 'credit cards' in the title, that may increase.

And yes, there is much overlap between this thread, GC's and even SB's some (more of that between GC's and SB's) lol.

Truth be told - why leave credit cards out of the title. It’s not like we are discussing anything that r/churning or DoctorofCredit aren’t already covering. I don’t think AMEX and Chase are coming here to figure out their next loopholes to shut down...

What I am saying and how I am feeling right now are 2 different things sadly. :( I'm typing and saying positive things in an attempt to trick myself into believing it. I know this will sound stupid, but I'm literally getting a sick feeling in my stomach reading about the way Chase is pursuing people on this. I feel bad, it's just...I can't describe it. Sorry for anybody going through this!
I am so behind. Skipped half the pages yesterday and am way behind today, so I haven't read anything at all on reddit. :( We were out at the 48 month language. Glad I didn't attempt to get DH in under the wire with the referral DD last minute since it sounds like they'd be pulling it back anyways. So sorry for those who got caught up in this an wasted a spot and MSR.

I remember that one..was thinking about doing it...Pretty sure it was a US Bank business card

:thanks:I want to thank everyone for the lighthearted comedy being injected into the thread today. My emotions are on overload due to the DD sitch, finding out last night a very good friend ended her life Tuesday after her mother (also a good friend) died two weeks ago :sad1:, and my dh is having open heart surgery next Friday. Definitely real life puts credit card bonuses in perspective but unfortunately it's just one more thing to fret over right now. :earseek:

So sorry to hear you are going through so much right now! Will keep you and yours in our prayers for a safe and successful surgery next Friday.

Hi All - a question before you all pack up and move on. I have 4.5k spend in the next few weeks and another 3.5k 1/1/2019 so looking for a couple of new cards. I am really leaning toward Delta Plat or Gold, since moving to MI I have been using Delta for short flights to IL (using UR's) about every other month. I think my yearly usage would be a minimum of 6 short R/T to IL, 2 R/T to WDW and a trip to HI or Europe. Would that make it worth going for the Plat with the MQM's? Or don't worry about chasing the MQM's and go with the Gold. I have gone back and read all of Tink1970's amex Delta posts and still not sure which way to go. For the 2nd card I am probably leaning toward a business card, maybe AA miles (although I'm not exactly sure why other than diversifying) maybe BoA as the Northern Lights are on my bucket list. My cards are below, will be closing out the 2 SW cc.

Chase Reserve 6/2016
Chase SW 3/2017
Chase United 4/2017
Chase IHG 7/2017
Wells Fargo – Boo 9/2017 (hot tub purchase 0 interest for a long time)
Discover IT 2/2018
Amex Plat 2/2018
BoA 1/2007
Cap1 1/2007

Chase SW Business 3/2017
Chase Ink 6/2017
SPG Business don't recall but is was the last 35k pnt offer, I think 6/2018

And just a DP I bought a $50 Delta GC with my amex plat and did get a credit. I will be buying 2 more over the next 2 months.
Thanks!

That was me, a USB Biz card. I applied but was denied. USB is tough for churners. I'm much deeper though so you may get it.

I think people don't post here is because the title doesn't seem like an advice thread. For the longest time I always thought it was stories of redemptions, or here's my new CC perk I just got that helps my Disney trip, stuff like that. I mean that was the purpose of the original posts IIRC. I popped in the first time cuz I couldn't figure out why it was always the top post on the board... how could there be that much discussion on using credit card points?

So I'd pop in and out for months only when the curiosity got the better of me to see what's new. I forget what it was that started me reading on a more regular basis, and that's when I realized 1) there's way more people posting than anywhere else and that explains why it's usually near the top and 2) wow, there's so much more here. It's a mix of anything CC related, from deals and discounts available to CC holders, how best to earn in each program, all the different programs there are, best ways to redeem in each program, credit advice like when to close a card and when to PC it and what you can PC it to, how to open cards etc etc etc. So for folks just reading the board, I think it is a little camouflaged. (or I'm dense, that's possible :p)

All that said, the title still wouldn't help with external search engines, everything here is public so all the posts are searchable. But I'm wondering when we will need a pt 2. There had been a post limit or a page limit before, although I thought we've surpassed both limits a long time ago. So maybe they're removed now and we'll go into infinity? Or we break the DIS cuz no one knows when to stop

I’m so sorry about your friends. Hope your DHs surgery goes well.

This is true. I just wish we didn't come up so easily in google searches. But you are correct, far more info is out there in other places and those places are more where the 'moles' would be hanging out!
