I thought the Aspire comes with a $250 airline credit?
You are correct. My brain was in a NyQuil haze again last night.

That's what spreadsheets are for!! Don't go risking them changing the UR transfer rule - that's where my tin foil hat comes out
Well I do feel bad for those that have had a monkey wrench thrown into their churning plans. For once I'm actually glad I am not going after Chase cards. Keep the optimism. I've been far beyond 5/24 for years with nary a hope of a Chase DD in my future and have had no problem getting where I want to go with points and miles. You will be fine
hmm, other group reports plastiq + master pass is charging ppl. promo ended early? I just tried it for $250 and it is charging me.
:-/.
This is a good idea if the school is willing and the scholarship can be allocated like that.
Otherwise, I wouldn't mess with Plastiq at this point. Last year, when the school district was paying for my dd's college but we still had to cover fees, we never got the bill. We missed the deadline to pay (early Sept) by a couple of days and we got stuck with a hefty late fee. Nothing I said to them would get them to take it off. I was so annoyed cause they had a problem with the high school students' bills going out so they knew we may not have received them...Anyways, since then I make sure to pay and pay early. East coast schools start much later than us so maybe there is still plenty of time for plastiq. Idk?? My dd's tuition was due 9/5.
Need to figure out what to do... I thought I paid my DDs tuition in full. Just recently got an email about a statement and I logged in to find they split a small scholarship in half, with the other half applied to Spring. So I owe $250 still. Do I just write a darn check? Go through plastiq again and eat the fee. Or try for a money order. It’s a small amount, but if I could get that on my Amex msr, that would be great. I am worried that she has a balance still so would like to get it taken care of ASAP. I think plastiq will be slow. And I’m scared of the money orders. Lol. I’m a bad churner. I’m talking myself into just sending a darn check. Ughhhh
I know it says 10 business days but then they sent me an email which says by 9/30. I was able to link capital one but the trial deposits haven’t hit yet. But that still may work. I need look into ally and learn about hub accounts!Ah! Ok. 3rd bank is your only option then. Do you have a 3rd bank? If not check out DoC’s list for one with a bonus or look into a hub account! Ally is my hub, I’ve had no issues & can link up to 20 accounts there, there are a couple other banks who make good hubs as well. Get on it fast, I think you have 10 business days?
Agree. Trying not to be a Debbie Downer but I see the 48mo rule coming sooner rather than later for the Ink cards and limiting those to 1 pp.
I'm with @SouthFayetteFan in that this news has upset me more than other changes chase has put into place (well, this and the 48mo on the Sapphires). UR's and RR's are my comfort zone. I know how to use them and I'm honestly scared of other points, like MR's. I'm trying to accumulate them cause I know I need to branch out but I'm pretty reluctant to do so. And then the only way I can think to use them is to cash out. The redemption of those points for flights or rooms just doesn't seem to jive with our way of traveling.
I remember that. It was hilarious. I never did it but yeah, some had gotten pretty good at checking values and then buying at GS to sell over at BB. Someone was helping everyone check values. It's right there but his username escapes me.
I’ll chime in with some more thoughts tomorrow when my head is a bit less foggy.
I’d really consider seeing if DH is targeted for the 100k personal Platinum offer on CardMatch or Amex pre-qualified offers, and getting the card if he is for this expense because the $7,5k fare would knock out the $5k MSR in one go, and flights booked directly with an airline on the personal Plat earns 5x MR. The Plat also has a $200 airline fee credit, and if you select United as your airline then you can use the credit on your check-in baggage fees.
Alternatively, you could get the CIP, which also has a $5k MSR, comes with a 80k UR signup bonus, and would earn you 3x UR on your flights and baggage fees. If you don’t already have the CSR, that’s another option that’ll earn you 3x UR on the tickets and bags, and a 50k UR signup bonus. Many people opt for the CSR and only 3x UR over the Plat and 5x MR for flights because the CSR has better trip delay/interruption insurance.

I did the DD 5 days after you and am also QUITE paranoid about getting both bonuses. I am going about the MSR totally opposite from you though. I have about $600 left on the CSR and haven't even begun the CSP yet. I need to wait for car insurance and taxes in early November.
What is your best educated guess on meeting the MSR'S? Should I carry on, completing the CSR first, then go on to the CSP. Or should I try to meet both spends around the same time, keeping in mind there is no way this can be accomplished before early November? My thinking on doing only one spend at a time is, if Chase decides to shut down one card they would probably close the card that has no spend on it. It was also the second in the DD and the one I would rather lose if need be. Ugh, I pushed up my DD date because I had a feeling, and now I just feel sick to my stomach, waiting for the hammer to drop. Just thankful it was my account and not my semi reluctant P2.

Thanks for letting me know. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong last night. My DD's rent is an ACH and was showing $0 fee, but not willing to post lots of small payments with all the hassle I had last month with them over Plastiq.
@ericf70 - JFK is a hub for AA and Newark is a hub for United. Since the rule of thumb is always get your Chase cards first then I will suggest UR earning cards as part of a plan A to pay for airfare since you are flying economy. Plan B would be using UR points to transfer 1:1 to United if the award mileage required is less than what it would take to pay for the flight with UR points. There are plenty of British Airways flights out of JFK but I would caution against transferring UR points to BA. If you connect through or fly to London the taxes and fees on that award flight are brutal. That said, you may find some pretty inexpensive airfare (from tie to time) on BA. You can also pay for those, and any other airline with UR points. If you are an AARP member (you can join at any age) you get $65 off of RT BA economy transatlantic flights, $200 off for business and first class tix.
I think @SouthFayetteFan gave you a primer on getting a plan going with UR cards already. I know the DD is no longer an option but I'd still recommend getting the CSR since you've had the CSP for 6 years. You can product change and reapply. You will want to use the global entry credit when you get the CSR and the points will be far more valuable when it comes time to book your flights next year.

It was that guy(gal?) who worked at a resort in Vegas I believe . . . I remember that as well - too funny!
They definitely are! I don’t know how many episodes and repeat episodes I have seen of that awful show with DS. I like brain cells get killed every time I watch it.Haha I was like wow, teen titans.... blast from the past for me! Tho i think they're making a come back?
This is me! I came on here to mope with everyone else. DH is a great silent P2 but doesn't understand it all so I can't vent. I'm not even affected by DD (approved for CSR alone a few weeks ago) but having that come right after the 48mos rule (which kills my early 2019 plan) makes me worried for what's next. And figuring they have their eyes on the Inks. I love URs because I know how to use them. I have a few hotel brand amex's but no MRs. I know i'll have to branch out eventually. I received a capital one email that interested me with the chase changes, where I wouldn't even have looked at it before.
Since I'm posting, I'll add a question. I think it's been asked and answered but when I don't have a card, I skim responses and then have to backtrack later when I decide I really want it. CSR is new to us, the high AF scared me away but we have a lot of travel next year. If an airline ticket is bought on points (like SW, which is all I ever use), and the fees are paid with CSR, will I get the travel protections? Seems weird to get them for $11.20 in fees. But i'll definitely use that card if you do get them.
I was just coming to do that today..... so here goes-DH and I both around 825 score- only listing pertinent cc's within last couple of years opened-@hsmamato2 I'm confused on what your current 5/24 is and how many cards are dropping off. Can you lay that out again, please? Just want to make sure we are advising you right.
I'm thinkin for our next extended fam trip this looks goodThat Wyndham magic village looks ah-mazing! I just want to move in there! Good find @calypso726!
