Just logged into SPG account and saw that I am Platinum Elite! I was Gold for both Marriott and SPG and did not expect this. Anyone else Platinum Elite and can tell me what to expect? We are staying at a few Westin hotels in a week.

When will this level expire? I know I won't be able to earn it again.

I actually think it’s a glitch. My accounts aren’t showing correct points or reservations

Some of the platinum's are showing ambassador (reading the re/churning thread). I wonder if it's a gift? Nah....

Has anyone tried the Swagbucks Best Buy lately? I went Wednesday and haven’t received the 500 bonus. Only purchased 50 gc this time. Just wondering if anyone has gotten a bonus. Tempted to go another one today but without the 500 bonus it’s not worth it.
I did my first one on Friday. Probably since I jumped on bandwagon, it will now die.:sad2:

While I think what they did was crappy, everyone was gambling that they’d get a great deal. I feel bad for that guy, but no way I’d have risked that.
I personally wasn't gambling for a good deal. I just didn't have plans yet and the places I was looking at were going down in points. Based on those facts, plus the 1 email I received from marriott about the TP, I decided there was no urgency in my case to attach. Had they put out the chart 24 hours before, I would have known differently and upgraded to the appropriate category.

A few weeks ago, I shared that my MIL was in the hospital. She passed away last night. She had been in declining health for some time, and has had numerous medical scares over the last few years, but she was the most uplifting and optimistic person despite all that. My wife spent over a week with her, and left her mother on the mend, in high spirits, and looking forward to us visiting again over the holidays. She began not feeling well again a few days ago, but it was touch and go. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), the end was very sudden. Sadly, we weren’t able to say our final goodbyes in person. My wife is on a flight home to Hawaii now, paid for entirely with points, so one less thing to worry about. My daughter and I will be flying to Hawaii in a few days once funeral arrangements are finalized. I wish I had picked up this hobby years ago, which would’ve meant a lot more trips to Hawaii for my wife to see her mom and my daughter to get to know the amazing woman who was her grandma. But my MIL wouldn’t want us to live with regrets, and she was always happy with what she had. Small solace that we don’t have to worry about the cost of flying to and from Hawaii now. Thank you all for your well wishes.

Wow. 8/18 was a terrible day.

So sorry to hear of your family's loss of your MIL. It's always hard to see someone go. Your MIL sounds like she was an amazing lady and I'm glad you were able to share part of your life with her. That means that you can pass sweet memories on to your daughter as she grows older. My sympathies to your wife as she transitions through this loss.

Anyone log in to SPG or Marriott and have the correct info display? I see on TPG, staff over there had issues. I have 2 upcoming stays and had 30k starpoints, now it just shows my Marriott balance.
It looks like their IT effort has turned into a big mess. SPG redirects to Marriott with a new account number and I can see that my SPG converted and are separate from my Marriott balance sitting But my DL Sheraton stay is missing my account activity. So now it looks like I have 2 Marriott accounts. I hope Marriott is going to merge them into one which it seems like they should have been easily able to do since I had the SPG and M linked. DH’s cousin works for Marriott IT, I wonder if he had anything to do with this effort.

I’m glad you got the time you did, she sounds like a wonderful woman. It’s one thing to say be happy with what you have but knowing someone who actually lived that sounds truly special. Very sorry for your loss :grouphug:
