Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Hi everyone, I have some more questions I was pondering this weekend.
-Does AKL Jambo have individual sized toiletries, or the giant bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash like they have at POP?
-Do they have coffee makers in the rooms, and what type?
-Where can we refill our mugs?
-Are there an abundance of King bed rooms at AKL Jambo? It's most important for us to have a partial Savannah view, but if there are a lot of King bed rooms, I would put that on our room request as well. Ideally we'd get a King bed with a Savannah view close to the lobby/transportation, but I don't want to get too picky with my requests.
-Do they provide towels at the pool?

I'm sure I'll think more before our trip in 38 days, but hopefully this will be it for now :)

Towels are provided at the pools.

No worries - you’ll be fine! When you arrive at the Security gate, tell the guard you’re checking in. When you stop at the front desk, just tell them you do not have a car and you won’t be charged. If you feel the need, you could tell the front desk CM that you arrived by car and that it will be in the parking lot for several hours, but then you’re returning it to the rental agency (but that’s not really necessary). ;)

Awesome! Thanks for your response!

We are staying in a Grand Villa in two weeks. We also have never been here. We added a night on at the beginning of our trip, at All Star Movies. I must admit I am slightly more excited about that. :-)

Ohhhh excited to hear your thoughts and tips on the GV! Enjoy!

I've read AKL is reclassifying standard rooms with a partial view to Savanna view rooms instead.

Anyone worried the likelihood of booking standard abd getting a partial view is much less likely?

I'm hoping we won't end up looking at parking lots.

Could you please share your source?

The AKL Facebook group has some posts about it. Someone said they booked a savanna and we're originally put in a room that used to be classified as standard with a partial view. They asked to be moved and were.

Hi All! We'll be staying in a Studio Villa - Savannah View at Kidani Village in late October. I'm torn on which room to request using TouringPlans. I'm thinking between 7408, 7450, and 7436. This will be my first time staying at a Deluxe and just want to have a good view and if possible a King sized bed haha. Any information or experiences with Savannah View rooms at Kidani Village would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

There are no king beds in any studio villa. I would suggest that you take a look at a map to decide where you want to be. We like to be in the pods closer to Jambo House, as we like to walk there and use that pool more (although it will be closed during your trip if you are going this October). If you wanted to be closer to the Kidani pool then you may want to request something in the pod closest to that pool. The hallways are pretty long so if you have anyone with mobility problems you may want to request something close to the lobby or transportation. I always request Sunset Savanna (the larger savanna) because I have a giraffe obsession and want to be able to see them.

Did the dates change? I thought it was Sep 4?

I read the 4th as well and could not find anything official recently to change that. It would make sense to close the day after labour day (the 4th). I get there on the 5th which in my world increases the chance it will be the 4th :)

Thanks for the info! Sorry you will miss the pool. We have never been to AKL before and are staying Aug 31-Sept 6, so only 2 days of no pool. If it was closing on Sept 1, we would be totally disappointed!

We were in 7421 and had a menagerie outside most all of the time. Plus, centrally located to the lobby, bus stop, and 5-7 minute walk to both Jambo and Kidani pools.

It is Sept 4th.

"The refurbishment is set to begin on September 4th and last a month, through December 4th.
I think that should be “and last 3 months”? Sept. - Dec. = 3 months rather than one. I wish it was a 1 month refurb., then it would be done when we arrive in late Nov.. I’m also concerned about what they have planned as 3 months seems a long time for a basic pool refurb. and I’ve not been impressed with the recent pool redesigns elsewhere at WDW.
