ok..... I'm in a bit of mourning here( ala some of the pp's on the demise of fun churning things) just wanted to vent for those of you who 'get it' with the points and all..... I'm fully booked for two other trips in the next year on points.... but still feeling 'sad' or bummed about the end of my swolphin days..... since I chose to stay in Hawaii instead with the last of my points, I won;t pay cash prices there.....I know, hardly a sad thing but for the past few years I've always had something in the works for a trip to Swolphin (not even the parks,just the resort area!) and now...nothing left. So that was my silly vent,since IRL no one else really knows this.(not even my family who has benefitted all these years!) All I can hope for is some hotwire deal to pop up that I can use someday. I will go back to Disney, but my fantastic points runs there are over....unless something changes. End of venting,it's a silly thought anyway......I can only warm myself with the thoughts of how much $ we saved enjoying this place.....

Run it as a debit. For gas stations you have to pay inside with the cashier and give a set $ amount of gas. They don’t work at the pump.

Funny, I just asked about this and @WVMomof3 said she checked with them and it is included. I just booked last night and put $8.28 of the rental on my CSR to be safe.

I had been thinking I'd use Lyft and charge it to my CF for 5x UR, but I really didn't want to do that since I'm working on MSR for CIC and Hilton Biz. Then I remembered- duh! 5x office supply stores for CIC and see if they have an Uber gift card! Anyone ever seen one there before? I can't remember when the last time is that I went in my local Office Depot so I'm not sure what their selection of gift cards looks like.

Pretty sure you can find Uber GCs at OD/OM/Staples. If you can’t, buy an Amazon GC for the same amount, then use it to buy an Uber GC on Amazon.

Thanks! I'll have to grab DH's CIC tomorrow and stop by on my way home from work. I've also never used Uber and it looks like there's a first time user $15 promo code right now too, so at least I'll get by fairly cheap on the long ride from LAX to the Hilton Anaheim.

I failed when I tried before because I didn't choose the pay thru Paypal option, you are suppose to pay thru Paypal (making your CIC the cc on Paypal). I haven't tried again since changing my payments settings since I'm swimming in gcs right now. Gyft could save you a trip to an office supply store.

Visa gc...I got a couple last quarter.... registered them to my name online, I could use them ok at a shop register(do I hit debit or credit button?) but no go at the costco gas station...what am I doing wrong here?

I’m guessing gas stations put a temporary charge on credit cards, which could be something crazy high like $99 and not work on a VGC with a limited balance. If you want to use your VGC at Costco or Costco Gas, you can go in warehouse to use your VGC to buy a Costco Cash gift card, which can be used for merchandise or gas.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this other than to say I haven’t had my coffee yet and I was too literal answering your question. Like, duh, I’ve bought Uber GCs from Gyft before (for UberEATs because those $15 Platinum credits don’t go very far). Checkout with PayPal as the payment method and select the CIC to earn 5x.

Thanks! My Office Depot is on the way home, but if they don't have it then I'll definitely check Gyft. I've never used Gyft before, are the gift cards emails to you, or mailed? Just don't want to run the risk of not getting the gift card before we go.

The final 30K SPG points transfer came through and I transferred it to Marriott. We already have 4 of the packages and I am now mulling over pulling the trigger on a fifth one or keeping the points in place. Decisions, decisions.

The points I’m transferring will get me a cat 8, which is what I would need at the current hotel cats. I am still toying with getting the cat 6 instead and keeping some points liquidated since we don’t know if the packages are going to map and to what. If I knew they’d turn into hotel points aug 1, I’d do the cat 6 for sure. But if it stays a cert I will need it to map to a new cat 6. Would I still be able to upgrade it in the future and for how many points? No one knows. Hard to make decisions with the unknown.

I opened the AMEX sit in incognito, and at the bottom it has a link to check for offers for yourself... You have to enter name, address, last 4 of ssn. If it's too close it will recognize you and ask you to login, you don't want that. You just want it to pull up pre-qualified offers. I was able to put in my new married name and it worked finally.

Those VGCs don't work at the pumps unless you do as @speedyfishy or @Lain suggest. But if you have a Freedom, I'd use that at Costco gas for 5x, or just use Costco VI for 4%, and save the VGC for something else.

So I ended not finding anything to use for my Walmart/sams club groceries except maybe that one generic one ($4.95 fee on $200 isn't too bad I guess since the rebate is 10%) or Kroger (which I don't shop at).

If your DD is a student, the Discover student card is fairly easy to get I think. Both my DS were approved instantly when they applied.
