Two Day Trip - Crazy??

I’m thinking about booking a weekend trip for DAH and because there’s been a lot of stressful things going on in my life that are finally starting to settle down. The only time I can really go is July 14-15 weekend. I need to reserve my time off for another trip I have planned for later on.

My plan is to fly down from Baltimore July 13 at night, Hollywood for Toy Story Land on July 14, DAH at night, fastpass the Up bird show on Sunday, then walk around Epcot. I’d fly back earliest flight out on Monday and head to work (luckily my job is pretty flexible so I could get in a little late and I work about 30 min from the airport). I have an AP and can get a hotel discount and also wouldn’t need tickets.

Has anyone done anything like this before? I would probably only ever do this kind of a whirlwind trip once. Thanks!

I can totally identify with this feeling. I say if you need it and can swing it, do it! We have been going through a rough 2 years. Had a family renting our home totally destroy it. Then had my mom diagnosed with Alzheimer's around Christmas and had to move her to a skilled nursing facility. She's now recovering from a severe case of pneumonia and acute heart failure. Slowly but hopefully surely. All the while my son - who turned 13 yesterday - has been dealing with cruel bullies at school. We planned our June trip as an escape for a bit. I hope you enjoy it and come back a bit refreshed like we are hoping to! We just entered the single digits - 9 days!

Never done it. We've talked about doing a long weeknd, but haven't.
The bird show is up to you, but I wouldn't waste a FP on it with so many other good options at AK.
You might want to watch some of the videos of the show, as reviews to date have not been good. I have read they are working on the show, so it might be mch better by July.

I’d love to do it but I personally wouldn’t. Simply because I feel like it’s a Disney tease, esp when flying.

Then again, you only live once so just do it. I’m sure I’d be talked into doing it with the right person in about 5 mins lol

DH is in Orlando this week teaching and finishes Friday. I am home in Maryland and have to teach a class on Friday. I will finish my class early (they had better not have any questions or issues with passing the test). I will hop on a flight out of BWI Friday after the class is over, spend Saturday in EPCOT and fly home early Sunday with DH.

Do it. Quick trips are a blast.

I say go for it! My husband and I did a last-minute weekend trip during Food and Wine and it was totally worth it. We were both really stressed out and being in the Disney bubble for a couple days was just the fix!

We did a 3 day-er in the parks and drove from Ohio both ways. Best trip ever! DO IT!!!

ETA: It was a last minute, as in planned it the week of, trip and we used the MDE ap to get fast passes and actually got on some headliners; I know you will have some FP choices still even it it is only 6 weeks out.

Lately I have only been doing quick and dirty trips.
In December 2015 I went from a Friday morning to a Sunday morning.
Did MVMCP on Friday, HS and Epcot on Saturday, and left for home Early morning Sunday.
That was the shortest trip I've ever taken and had a great time.

Go for it!

The day they announced Maelstrom was closing, I booked a resort and flights and we were in Orlando 2 weeks later. We kept our goals simply (like you have) - ride Maelstrom! All else was gravy. It was really fun!

I’m so sorry you had to deal with so much, but I’m also so glad you will get a rejuvenating break in Disney very soon! Hoping TONS of pixie dust comes your way!!
