Hi all. I have spent months reading the 600+ pages on this thread in preparation for our first poly stay over labor day! So excited!

I noticed on tikiman's fb page that the twilight feast has gone up in price by $10. There are also reports of smaller portions. Can anyone confirm the portion size? Also, is there still a kids portion and what is the price? We love ohana and do have an adr but we are excited to try the feast too. Thanks!

@GADisneyDad14 for the great explanation of the new opening procedure and monorail post! That really helps inform my planning.

Thanks for the nice note. :-)

BTW, I should probably add to my explanation above that the “Main Street/Hub open an hour before park opening” setup only applies for a 9AM regular park opening.

For a 8AM regular park opening, guests are let in at 7:45ish and the welcome show is at the castle stage at approx.7:55AM.

For a 7am regular park opening, guests are let in 6:45ish and the welcome show is at the castle stage at approx 6:55AM.

I hadn’t heard about the price hike and smaller portions, hopefully someone there recently can confirm.

I’d like to know if you can preorder room service for dinner and schedule it to be delivered around a certain time like you can for breakfast.

Is this the protocol for EMH too?

Seems to be confirmed via image of the updated in room menu. Flat rate of $50, no kids option? I’ve never had it so can’t comment on portion. Huge bummer. We were looking forward to this on our upcoming trip because we won’t have energy to go to Ohana after traveling all AM and parks all PM but we really want the food. Our plan was to get one adult and one kids based on CM recommendation for the 3 of us... not sure how to handle now.

Its getting closer to our first Poly stay in December and we are so excited! Quick question on Trader Sam's, let me know if I should post in the restaurants forum instead. First, how long of a wait can I expect and if we want to go in at 4:00 what time should we get there. I have been seeing more and more of Trader Sam's in YouTube videos etc. and I'm wondering if its really crowded and hard to get into. Second question, is it really ok for kids to go in before 8:00 are there many that take their kids? My son is excited about the fun effects with the drinks but I don't want others to be bothered that there is a kid there or for us to feel uncomfortable. TIA

What kind of fun effects?

we are heading for our first poly stay next month. wife had a quick question regarding the laundry. Are you able to use the magic bands to pay, or do we need to bring change/debit card?

Last time we were there it was still coins only. That was in February.

Yes just finished a stay at Poly and you need a credit card to do laundry. $3 per load of washer or dryer. Machine is on the wall to swipe card and then you enter the number of the laundry machine(s) you plan to use. Very clear and easy directions. I brought my own Tide pods but there is a detergent vending machine in the room. Washers are HE front loading.

For the resort side laundry room, it had a card reader system (not MagicBand, only credit/debit cards) last time I used it, granted that was summer 2016. I know because my bank flagged the multiple small charges right in a row as potential fraud and I had to call to get it straightened out. :-) Fun times while on vacation.

Again, caveat that that was nearly 2 summers ago in case it has changed.

thanks folks. i was doing some forum searching and saw some prices over in the contemporary thread and wowza. For laundry service it is per item, and not a flat fee. I expected to have a high fee for a "valet" bag or something, but it looks crazy expensive

Just returned from a 9-night stay at the Poly on a multigenerational vacation - 6 adults, 4 kids ages 13 months - 5 1/2. It was such a great vacation! In the months leading up to the trip I studied these forums like crazy (thanks everyone!). While the Poly gets a lot of love, from time to time there's a post or two about a bad experience. Happy to say we couldn't have been more pleased.

We received the floor we wanted (ground) on the pool side of Hawaii. The CL was so convenient for breakfasts and snacks and we loved proximity from our patio to the pool. The CMs were super friendly. If there was something we needed, all we had to do was ask. One night my husband and I went to Jiko for dinner and the next morning I realized we had left our credit card behind. This was a "no car" trip for us and we relied only on Disney transportation. We were headed to a park for the day so I asked the concierge if they could call Jiko when it opened and verify that my card was there. We planned to Uber there in the evening and pick up the card. The CM called for me, and then called me to let me know that they had sent a runner to get the credit card and it would be delivered to our room if I was ok with that. What service!

We found the onsite restaurants to be fine...several carry-outs of quick things at Captain Cook's, one dinner at Kona Cafe, Lilo's breakfast at 'Ohana, some appetizers at Trader Sam's. We had Flipper's Pizza delivered one night. We really enjoyed several later afternoons in a poolside patio we reserved in advance - shade was great for the baby. The poolside service was pretty spotty - they seem quite understaffed for the warm, sunny weather and amount of people at the pool.

The Poly is truly a beautiful resort...marshmallows and fireworks at the beach, lovely grounds to stroll on (even the walk to do laundry was pleasant). The transportation options were so wonderful with small kids. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.
