We are about 6 weeks from our first Poly stay; cannot wait! We usually hit the parks pretty hard, but I really want to make sure we slow down and enjoy the resort too. We will be there for 7n/8d. What are your favorite/donnot miss things about Poly?
Pool time,

watching HEA/ EwP at least 1 night

Strolling grounds with tiki lights

walking to or from GF

1 night in pool/hot tub

Tambu lounge or other for a fun beverage, even alcohol free ones are good

dolewhip

A meal/ lots of unique options and ways to get it. CC's is a great QS!

Sitting on the beach and gazing at castle day or night

Oh and shopping!

Agree with all of the above! We haven’t been since 2014 and the addition of DVC so not sure if this has changed, but I find the walk from the TTC back to/through the resort at night is usually very quiet and peaceful.

Known pool/marina is all of Samoa, and part of Fiji. Everything else is open for debate in the absence of actual data.

Open questions exist for parts of Niue and Rarotonga. Beach side Fiji is apparently still Standard, although the data is fuzzy. There is no possible way the units in Aotearoa or Tuvalu that were Standard got reclassified to Pool/Lagoon.

I had a thought. Do you think they built the DVC bungalows on the water, since they started limiting people's use of the beach and access to the lake?

Just booked our trip for December!!!!! Can't wait to experience Christmas time at the Poly!!!

How exciting! Enjoy the rest of your planning. Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

Here now...

We love to shop in Boutiki a few times during our stays
A lot of pool time

check out some of the activities in the GCH
Watch the torch lighting
marshmallows on the beach they have the fire pit
watching fireworks from beach
renting a boat
renting cabana
Trader Sams
I cannot wait for Sept we always take afternoon breaks and also take one day off parks for a resort day, normally on our anniversary, we also have dinner at Ohana on our resort day...

Sounds perfect.

Here now...Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta, Powerade Berry, Minute Maid Light, Root beer, Diet Coke, Sprite.
I’m assuming there is a “tab” for water. Is there a tab for “sparkling water” as well? There is one at Hurricane Hannah’s. I loved that!

Here now and love the Poly!

Ease of transportation to MK and Epcot, (Monorail to Epcot not working yesterday but efficient bus service was in place)

Renting a poolside patio...rainy day today but no lightning so pools are open and I’m sitting dry in the “cabana” with a beverage after a pretty drippy park morning.

Friendly CMs

Walking the beautiful grounds...back of Hawaii past beach and along marina to Great Ceremonial House is very scenic

This is our third night out of nine...it’s truly a peaceful oasis after park time

Our family’s favorite vacation destination is Hawaii. They think the Poly has more of a Hawaiian tropical atmosphere than the Hawaiian resorts where we’ve stayed.

Sounds heavenly.

Its getting closer to our first Poly stay in December and we are so excited! Quick question on Trader Sam's, let me know if I should post in the restaurants forum instead. First, how long of a wait can I expect and if we want to go in at 4:00 what time should we get there. I have been seeing more and more of Trader Sam's in YouTube videos etc. and I'm wondering if its really crowded and hard to get into. Second question, is it really ok for kids to go in before 8:00 are there many that take their kids? My son is excited about the fun effects with the drinks but I don't want others to be bothered that there is a kid there or for us to feel uncomfortable. TIA

Has there been any talk of Deluxe resorts getting Freestyle machines? I was so happy to have the Freestyle machines at CBR on my last visit. Its a shame that they are not an option at every resort.

If taking your kid to Trader Sam’s before 8PM is wrong, I don’t want to be right. :-)

But in all seriousness, I’ve taken my son (who is currently 7) in there many times. He gets a kiddie drink, I get the real thing, life is good. The effects don’t necessarily hold his attention all that long so we’re often one drink and done, but it’s something we’ll do occasionally none-the-less. Admittedly, it is more for me than him. :rolleyes1

As far as crowds, I find it pretty variable. Sometimes there will be a wait when I didn’t expect one, and sometimes when I figure no chance I can walk right in. Seems hard to predict with any degree of certainty, from my experience.

Have fun!
