I love credit cards so much!

Yeah, the look of dread on our faces when the agent was pretty firm about us having to go through TSA again was not pretty. I would do it again because the lounge at MCO is actually pretty good, but schedule the extra time just in case it would happen again. We were totally caught off guard because we are so used to lounge hopping here in Vegas because all lounges (international and domestic) are accessible without having to go through TSA again

The beer selection at The Club MCO was one of the best I've seen so far.
Think it depends on what flights are coming in. The partitions stayed up they just put a black strap across and someone was standing there. I just played dumb and said we got on the wrong monorail to our gate. They were friendly and just said you need to go out and back through. I had planned on an extra hour to get from the club to our gate. If it had been a busier time I would have given 1.5 hours.

Possible resale/meet MSR opportunity.

1. Are you an Amazon Prime member?
2. Do you have American Express Membership Rewards points on an Amex card connected to Amazon for pay with points?
3. Check if you're targeted for this promotion: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-amazon-fire-tablets-from-14-99/
4. If so, great! Because the promo includes $30 off Fire HD 10 Tablet, 10.1″ 1080p Full HD Display, 32 GB.
5. The Fire HD 10 Tablet (32 GB) is on sale for an additional $50 off today, (4/26/18), bringing the cost down to $99.99. If you're targeted for the promo, that brings the cost down to $69.99 from the retail price of $149.99. I recently resold several of the black ones for $125 and they moved fast (I wish I had priced them a little higher but didn't want to sit on them too long).

A few caveats and tips (Updated):

1. Limit 5 per model. I believe the Kindle/MR points promo is a one-time use deal. So if you buy only 1 now, you can't go back for 4 more later. You can go back for different models.
2. Before adding a Kindle (or any Amazon) device to your cart, select the "This is a gift" box or the Kindles may be pre-registered to your Amazon account.
3. If you're targeted for the promo, you'll have to select your Amex Membership Rewards card for payment and use at least 1 MR point (apply a specific amount $0.01 for 1 point) for the discount to apply. The balance will go on your selected Amex card.
(Or YMMV, an Amazon gift card balance.) Whether you can shop with just 1 MR point and put the balance on your Amazon gift card balance is YMMV. I've done it before, but wasn't able to do it today -- when I tried, it put the whole charge on the gift card and removed Amex, 1 MR point and the discount as the payment method. If you can use a gift card balance and you're trying to hit MSR on any other card, like a SPG card, use the SPG card to buy an Amazon gift card first and add that gift card balance to your Amazon account. You can buy Amazon gift cards in grocery stores, office supply stores, or on MPX and earn 0.5 United miles per $1. If you're trying to maximize spending bonuses, maybe use Freedom to buy an Amazon gift card from the grocery store or CIC/Ink+ at an office supply store for 5x UR.
4. The retail price on this Kindle model fluctuates because Amazon often puts these on sale. Camelcamelcamel puts the historical lowest price at $99.99 (now), Amazon often has these on sale for $109, and retail price is $149.99. What price Amazon is charging directly will impact your reselling efforts.
5. Also, if everyone has the same idea, the resale market may be temporarily flooded with these Kindles, which will affect the supply/demand curve and therefore your resale price.
6. If you're thinking of taking advantage of any of the other Kindle models included in the promotion, check camelcamelcamel first to see how the current price compares to the high and low price. The Fire HD 10 Tablet (32 GB) is on sale today; I'm not aware of any other models on sale so you might want to wait on those. I also don't know when the Kindle/MR points promo will end, but it's still working as of this morning.
7. If you're thinking of reselling online (e.g., eBay), you can potentially save on shipping by mailing the Kindle in a Priority Mail Padded Flat Rate Envelope, which costs $7.10-$7.25 for postage. These padded envelopes aren't available in most post offices, but you can order them through the USPS site and they deliver free to you.
8. eBay sellers fees (typically 10%) earn 3x UR on CIP.
9. Before generating a shipping label, withdraw the proceeds from any sale from your PayPal account to your bank, or shipping fees will be automatically deducted from your PayPal balance. Make sure if you've preauthorized eBay to charge your PayPal account for shipping, the preferred method of payment is your CIP (or other credit card on which you're trying to earn points), not your bank. eBay shipping will deduct the cost of postage from your PayPal balance first, but if you've withdrawn the funds then eBay will charge your next selected method of payment (for a long time, it was deducting from my bank account until I delinked it and changed it over to CIP). eBay shipping fees also earn 3x UR on CIP.

Edited to add more tips.

I live in a nashville. What month would you be coming?
And what is the UR price if you book thru the portal? Maybe you could book on URs now as backup and cancel that and use Hyatt points after you confirm the concert. That way if the concert doesn’t work out you just cancel the ur booking. If it does and Hyatt is full at least you have a free room.
It would be Nov 30 to Dec 2. UR price is 65k after taxes vs 30k for Hyatt.

Does it depend what gate you are flying out of? What airline? We were on an early morning Delta flight and didn’t have to go through TSA or the tram again; just walked to our gate. I guess I am confused where the barriers are putting up at.

And my girls especially D9 still talk about going back there. She was a big fan of the jellybeans!

I finally got a pin code for this summer.

The weird thing about it... my address has been CO for years now, and I update my name in the system at the end of last year. But I had to put in my old name and my NE zip code for it to recognize me...

I'm not sure where Delta flies out of... but you know when you go through TSA, there are two sets of monorails, one on each side? The lounge is down one set, but SW for example is down the other monorail. So you ride the one to the terminal with the lounge, then you have to come back to the area just past security and go to the other set of monorails. But sometimes they pull a wall across so you can't just walk to the other side, and they send everyone out of the secure area. I've read it's when international flights land, so those people can't go back into the terminals...

And this just happened: DH is at the racetrack with a friend tonight, so I just told DHs parents I was going to get arby's, would they like anything? FIL went to get cash and I snuck out the door, he chased me out to the driveway to try and give it to me. And while he was getting cash, MIL was like I forgot to tell you, she got a deal on a petco gift card for the next time we need dog food so we need to give her money for that... Thats okay, anytime they succeed in giving us cash, it goes to a travel fund for them. For the last year or so it had been for our wedding trip, I used it to buy discounted Disney gcs for them for food and stuff and presented it to them before we left. This time it will go to the surprise family cruise trip were planning for next summer...

Your in-laws sound exactly like mine... My MIL is constantly trying to pay for dinner whenever we meet up with them, even though we are dual income no kids and they are living on a very strict budget!! That is a really good idea on the travel fund though. MIL is always giving us cash for Christmas and birthdays, and since we're planning to take them to Disney with us in 2019, it would be great to hand them that money back and tell them it's for souvenirs or food.

Dumb question, all these AMeX offers you find, where do you see them? I’m assuming just in the AMEX app under the offers tab right? Just want to make sure I’m not missing anything awesome...

If you log into your Amex accounts and just scroll down, you should see the offers. There are a lot of them but I find only a few that suit my lifestyle. And, twice I ordered wine from a couple of the offers as a 'one time' thing. Like 6 bottles for $29 or something like that. Now I've got at least six more offers for wines!

I've also used the Lowes and Home Depot offers - no fear they would send six offers for those, lol!

Blog post on potential issue with Applying for CF and CFU: https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/2018/04/26/is-chase-now-restricting-freedom/?utm_source=feedblitz&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Frequent Miler (Instant)

I’m calling this potentially stupidity vs a datapoint. Apparently this blogger can’t wait 48 hours (or even 12 hours) after a pc to attempt to apply for a card. Meanwhile in the real world we will wait a week+ (some people a month) to keep things on the “up and up”

I don't consider Nick a "credit card" guy; he's a stacker/discounter/bonus chaser. At least that's the only good I've ever gotten from his articles.

P.S. Looked again, and I noticed yesterday's UR-doom-and-gloom non-story was written up by Nick and not Greg.

P.P.S. Saw your post about this on /r/churning. Have to say I trust you and OJtheJEWSMAN more than a "professional" blogger.

I wish this was posted last month when we were in LAS for our layover. I was trying to get from our SW gate to a lounge. DH wouldn't go because he was positive we'd have to go back through security. I could see the little hallway appeared to bypass security and keep up in the secured area but he wasn't in the mood to believe me I guess.

I'm impressed you pay that much attention, lol. I will on occasion look at who writes something on DoC...otherwise I pay no attention. At any rate, I don't think Frequent Miler is about to become a blog I follow based on their recent writing/reporting style. :)

Where are you flying from? My observation over the last year-ish is that BNA flights have gone up on SW. I don't get the deals I used to get to the places we always fly. So my concern would be will you get the flight at a rate you are willing to pay...esp with it being weekend flights?
The other thought I have is that the Grand Ole Opry moves to the Ryman (its original home) at that time of the year, so it is very popular at that time. That will drive hotel demand up but I don't know how quickly award availability will get snatched up. There are alot of hotels down in that area from several chains, so I am sure you could find something on points somewhere, assuming the concert tickets and flights fall into place.

Man- wish I had known that a couple of weeks ago. We hung in a very crowded SW gate area at LAS for a good while the other week, when we could have lounged! I have a decent LAS layover next week, so I will definitely have to figure out how to get to one of the lounges from the SW gates.

Also- anyone been in Denver lately? I had heard that the restaurant/lounge thing might be going away - is it still operating for now?

Has anyone ever stayed at Marriott on a conference rate or other discounted rate (besides members rate) and had it credit as a qualifying night? I haven't received credit for my three night stay from last week but I was there on a conference rate.

I had downloaded the PP lounge app and was trying to follow the signs to the correct location. We walked as far as a large food court. Off that food court where several halls, one of which appeared to skirt by security. That is where DH decided we were finished walking. It didn't appear to me to require leaving the secured area but he was not in the mood...plus I don't think he really understood what the lounge meant, because he is usually all over free stuff. So we hung out in a very crowded SW gate area too after we ate in the food court. The annoying thing about LAS is they put all these bright, noisy slot machines everywhere that attract toddlers. Then parents spend the whole time trying to keep toddlers away from bright noisy machines. :headache:
