Official 2018 Star Wars Dark Side Weekend

I wasn't able to snag a FP for Flight of Passage, so I'm just gonna sit in the test seat for five minutes and sway back and forth while watching the movie on my phone.

If you just need a solo FP+, I’ve had luck recently getting one same day. Just gotta be flexible.

My daughter is expected to run the race in about two hours, ten minutes. When we registered her, we were way off with our completion time estimate. As a result, she’s in coral G. I’ve emailed Track Shack requesting a corral reassignment, but am not holding my breath.

Anyone have any pointers for dealing with a late corral? How does she get ahead of the crowd? She’s looking to run a fast race, hoping for an age group award.

Last year's Dark Side was the first year I ran a half marathon or a runDisney race. I didn't have an official time so I had to be in the 2:45+ corral but I run faster than that. For the first 4 miles, it is very crowded with people running in a row so you have to run around them on the grass if you want to keep your own pace. I think it helped me though as I ran a bit faster when I passed people. I was so focused on not hurting myself by tripping and passing people that the first few miles passed quickly. And it gives you a bit of a boost to pass people rather than BE passed. So while I would have loved to run the tangents the only option was to RUN where there was an opening!

I would recommend that she get as close to the 'front' of the corral (that is forward and to the right but she should check where they will open the corral as I was too far right and ended up even further back!) And there are definitely others that run faster in later corrals so if she can find another runner that goes her pace and follow them as they clear a path, that helps a lot. I had a couple of runners that were trying to weave around people and we found we did better if we ran in a line and got through the crowd. We would even switch places so the same person wasn't always in the front which is more stressful as you have to find the openings. Of course, this was all 'unspoken', just running camaraderie!

Good luck to your daughter!

Just spoke to some 5k participants at breakfast. They said it was a good race but they did a lot of weaving around walkers who were in earlier corrals..
I was in D I pretty much ran/jogged the first mile but as soon as I hit the countries everyone was just casually walking and taking topiary selfies and only seemed to speed up at photopass stops....
Stopping for Germany WC (longer to remove/repin my bib then to get into the companion restroom which was vacant and do my business) & a ball pic I finished in 53:12 (only about 8ish minutes above PR)

26 waves let off

If you have hard proof of that time that she could finish in, drop by the Expo and visit Runner Relations today or tomorrow to see if they’ll slot her up. They’re being real helpful this weekend because of last-chance registration so there’s a good shot she could get a bump up a few corrals.

As in, they run small? Or run large?
It seems to depend on the item. The red long sleeve hoodie thing seemed to be a little on the smaller size, whereas the t-shirt next to it looked small. I bought a large for me in both--I'm usually medium--and the hoodie fit (not loose) and the shirt is maybe a tad big (but the medium probably would have been too tight). I'd advise to wear something that it's easy to try on. My daughter is slightly smaller than me (she's a 6, I'm a 6-8) and she ended up with a medium shirt and a large hoodie thing.

They have so many clothing manufacturers: Champion, Nike, Hanes, and the "unlisted ". No wonder why it's hard to figure out sizing. DW always wears a tank top for this reason. I plan on trying on my purchases tonight now that we're at the Beach Club.

From the travel package booth, SWDS dates for next year are April 4-7 2019, apologies if this was already posted
This ends the day before my cruise to Cuba. It works out great! I am very very bummed that there were no race weekend jackets, unless I missed them

Anyone else notice that the amount of Champion brand merchandise seems less than years past?

I just tried on my prepuchased jacket and they're not Champion anymore. Doesn't seem as heavy weight. Yet the same price.
