This sounds like a good idea. The lounge does get VERY crowded on that first day.
I agree. This is a great opportunity to keep the lounge from getting stupid crowded as it does on embarkation.

Generally what time are the rooms ready? I know it is often earlier than the other rooms. (Leave in one day and getting anxious about the schedule on the first day ).We go to the room, drop off our stuff and unpack a little, then go to the lounge.

Good to know. Thanks. In some ways I feel very prepared for Saturday and in others not at all.Concierge rooms are usually ready as soon as you board.
I seriously doubt there would be a concierge only dining venue on the new ships. This would go against DCLs rotational dining option, unless something like anytime dining is offered on the new ships?
No, I think it's very possible there because many concierge cruisers have dinner delivered to their suite to avoid the chaos of the dining rooms. Also on the older NCL ships that do not have the Haven, they use a specialty restaurant for concierge only breakfast and lunch, so DCL could do something similar without affecting rotational dining.
We never have. We ate Palo for dinner in our room one night when we had the Walt suite on the Wonder but otherwise we have not eaten in our room. This is interesting to me. I did not realize so many concierge guests skipped the MDRS to eat in their room. You miss out on some fun experiences.
The concierge rooms are usually ready as soon as you board or shortly after, much sooner than the usual 1:30pm.Boarding starts at 11:30 or so but rooms are not ready until 1:30. (Not sure if concierge are available ready earlier - unless I win the lottery, I don't think I'll ever book it) Many concierge Guests end up waiting in the concierge lounge so this is a nice alternative for lunch.
Heather, this is very helpful actually. Two hour lunch on the first day with a 2 and 7 year old will probably be too much so I think you just changed my plans. I think we will go to the lounge then cabanas. Thanks.I sailed Concierge on the 4/13/18 Dream with some friends and this was also offered as noted. We ate in Royal Palace and it was nice to try it out and I see the benefits to it, however I'd rather do Cabanas. It took almost 2 hours and it was just so slow and there were only four of us at our table. Others were in there just as long so I'm not sure why everything took so long. Since I'm Platinum and I'm accustomed to boarding earlier, Cabanas isn't "nutty" for me when my family boards however I know it does get "nutty" as the time goes by.
The Concierge hosts stated it was working well and has taken a little pressure off them in the Lounge however they were escorting those that needed it or coming by in Royal Palace to check on guests.
Overall I think it's a nice move it's offered as many had requested this based on feedback they said, however I'm a Cabanas girl!

For some reason I am very stressed out about the first day. (which is in one day!!!)I'm so glad I could help!
I paid attention to others that were already there and when they left so I know it wasn't just our table. I can offer we had other friends (non-concierge) in Enchanted Garden and their lunch easily took 2 hours as well. We were all saying - Cabanas next time if time mattered!
Enjoy!

Don't be! It's so fun, I love the first day. It's a great time to wander around the ship and see everything and take it all in. No need to rush to do anything. Have fun you're on vacationFor some reason I am very stressed out about the first day. (which is in one day!!!)
