Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

The culinary tour sounds really fun, and I will definitely check the activity schedule, and also make time to explore the resort. Thank you!

The culinary tour may or may not be listed on the Activities board at Jambo House. Stop by the Boma podium around 3:45pm and let them know you'd like to do the Jiko/Boma culinary tour (normally starts at 4pm). Definitely worth the time! Sanaa also has a culinary tour at 4pm daily, but I haven't done that one yet. It's been on my list for some months now!!

How often does the van run between Jambo and Kidani lobbies? Just back and forth, or only at certain times of the day? Is there more than one?
It runs back and forth constantly, but I'm not sure of the hours. But it's not like "every hour on the hour" or anything like that. Drives to one area, waits for a few minutes, drives to the other, waits a few minutes... you get it. It's now a nice size small bus (like a church or daycare bus if you're familiar). I saw it a couple times while waiting on magical express.

Also you can use the parks buses to go from Kidani to Jambo and the Disney Springs bus to go from Jambo to Kidani. Of course I would recommend checking with the driver to ensure you don't end up on a wild detour!

I'm not sure of your party's mobility but I timed the walk from Jambo front door to Kidani Zazu elevator over the weekend and it was 4 minutes. Mind you, you still have to walk a fair distance down the Kidani corridor after you get inside after the 4 minutes walk but there is air conditioning!

We finally did the Sanaa culinary tour and really enjoyed it. Our host, Chikanda (sp?) from Zambia was so sweet and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the art in the restaurant and were treated to a sample of three different types of bread and three dips (from the Sanaa bread service) and a quick visit from the chef after our tour of the restaurant. Total time including snack about 30 minutes. Totally worth it! (It's free!)

4 minutes is not bad at all to walk between the two. I don't typically mind a longer walk, but was curious of the option when I saw it mentioned somewhere. Great food options and atmosphere all around. Thanks for the reply pepperandchips!

I'm glad they have a new bus! That shuttle they had last year was looking REALLY rough.

I now have a 1BR Value Villa in Jambo House booked through WDTC cash reservation. On a cash reservation what view would that be? It was my understanding that a standard view booked as a cash reservation can possibly be a not so great savannah view. With the value 1BR will it be parking lot?

We will be staying at Kidani in July!! It will be our first stay at Kidani. We stayed at Jambo previously so I am familiar with Mara but not any options at Kidani. Is there a place at Kidani to get a muffin and coffee in the morning or do you have to go to Mara?

Sanaa serves breakfast in the morning, they have grab and go items such as muffins, yogurt, fruit, and they also have hot meals like waffles and a breakfast sandwich. If you get a hot meal you can either sit in the restaurant and they bring it to you or you can get it to-go and they will package it up for you in containers and a to-go bag.

We (2 adults) are spending our final day in AKL (that time may increase, but for now it is just our final night) and since it is where I would have liked to stay for the trip if I wasn’t juggling other family/friends and their opinion, I want to make the most of it. We have a savannah view room.

My plan is to arrive close to check in, do Jiko for dinner and then the night safari. In the morning I’m going to set my alarm and watch the sunrise either from our balcony or one of the viewing areas. We will have breakfast at Boma before we head to the airport.

What else is worth doing, to make the most of the hotel? We will have been at WDW for 4 weeks at this point, so the hotel is our destination for the last 24 hours of our time, and I love animals.

If your plan is to watch the sunrise, you might want to make sure you have a room that is facing east. Not all Savanna view (I'm guessing) look out to the east.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the reply.

Someone told me that they did a search for the best coffee in Disney World and they learned that it was right in Jambo House lobby. Does anyone know if there is a coffee cart in the lobby and if so what type of coffee they offer?
Best coffee in the world is a stretch but their pressed pot coffee is pretty good.

All the Value Villas are located on the 2 short trails at Jambo House on the 5th floor: Ostrich & Giraffe. There are 3 views you may get: Savannah (Sunset Savannah), pool view, and, yes, several with front of resort views aka parking lot.

Can someone please tell me if akl jambo (regular savanna view room, not dvc) still has the small toiletries, or did they get the wall-mounted dispensers? We arrive on sun (yay!) and need to know whether to pack travel size shampoos etc. Not a fan of the wall dispensers. Thanks!

We are staying in a value studio in Jambo House. Will it have any glass/ceramic coffee mugs? I'm actually interested in microwaving scrambled eggs in there, so I'm basically just looking for some kind of microwavable glass container. Not something I really want to try and pack.

All of the studios in Jambo have ceramic mugs provided.
