Why would all members earn at the same rate? That seems odd. Is that how it is now?
combining points is the only thing that makes sense. so were(SPG) most likely transferring to Marriott.

But why would all tiers earn at the same rate? I’m only familiar with Hilton, but the higher the status, the better earn rate you have.combining points is the only thing that makes sense. so were(SPG) most likely transferring to Marriott.

I used to wonder why people bull-rushed the podium at other airlines but then I figured out it was the overhead bin space issue.
THIS!! I'm going to be honest, I've become almost downright rude about snapping at people who get up too early and then want to block the jetway to everyone who should be getting on earlier. It is extremely frustrating, especially if you're traveling with anyone who is handicapped and therefore you need potentially additional space and time to get on the plane. You're already at the gate which means the plane is not going to leave without you as long as you don't leave the general vicinity of boarding. Why do you need to stand on top of the gate agent?!
Plus, I've never understood why all of these people are so desperate to get on the plane earlier... why do you want to sit cramped in a sardine tin for longer than necessary? Even if you're mega diamond platinum elite (to quote @SouthFayetteFan), my idea of a great time is not to sit on a plane, no matter how big or luxurious my seating arrangements are.

The Chase Marriott BUSINESS is not subject to and does not add to 5/24. I assume you meant the biz card but didn't specifically see that mentioned. You're probably ok from a shutdown standpoint as long as you don't hit any more chase cards in the next 3 months afterwards (which why would you considering you're trying to get under 5/24).So I'm getting close to meeting the spend on my SPG Biz and would like some input on my next card please! I think I'd like to go for the Chase Marriott offer - 75k points for $3k spend to add to my SPG points stash so that I'll have enough to actually use them! I want to make sure I'm not missing anything and that this is a logical next move. I'm currently at 5/24 and trying to get back under to (finally) get some UR cards! Here are my cards:
SW Plus 10/16
Discover 5/17
BoA Cash 5/17
WF Dillards 5/17 (still kicking myself on this one!)
SW Biz 12/17
SW Premier 1/18
SPG Biz 2/18
Chase Marriott is not subject/does not add to 5/24, correct? So the only concerns I should have would be Chase shutdowns (hopefully not too big of a risk) and having too much credit extended by Chase, in which case I might be able to lower existing credit limits. Anything else I should be concerned with? Any other cards I should consider instead of this one? The only other card I'd thought about was the Hilton Amex biz card, but it would be for a Hawaii trip that's several years in the future, and it has an $95 AF so I'm not as motivated to get it right now. I'd appreciate any input!
August confirmation of a combined program is starting to become a reality...
so far on whats reported.
10 points per dollar makes me think the forced 1-->3 point transfer will happen.
it was 20 stays for gold status, so im guessing they made that a bit harder to get.
everything else seems about the same.
Why would all members earn at the same rate? That seems odd. Is that how it is now?
Also, a few quick Amex questions please!
Thank you!!!
- For the Amex SPG Biz bonus, do you need to hit the spend a week or so before the statement closing date or does it just need to be by the closing date? Just trying to decide if I should try to hit it for this month's statement or if it's too late and if it will be next closing (still have another month to meet the MSR).
- On Amex deals, specifically the Lowe's spend $50 get a $10 statement credit, does the $10 statement credit not hit until your statement closes? That seems like it would make sense, but I just want to make sure what to expect. I did get an email stating thanks for redeeming/using it so I'm thinking that's a good sign it worked.
Bonus points on the SPG biz post independent of your statement. Once you hit the min spend they should post within 2-4 days (regardless of when your statement closes). Also, a few quick Amex questions please!

I'm not seeing it this way - I see @magickingdomprincess being < 5/24 in Oct 2018...are you sure you aren't counting one of those biz cards against the 5/24 by mistake...If you can hit business cards for the next 12 months you’ll get under 5/24 in May 2019.
You could get the Marriott Biz, the Chase 5/24 rule doesn’t apply.
I need a love button for this I think the exception is @calypso726 with that suite, I'm pretty sure I'd be hanging out in there every second I can cuz unless I hit the lottery that would be a once in a lifetime event.
Thanks, I will check out Bahia Principe! I was looking for somewhere I could book with IHG, Marriott, or SPG points this time since that's what I have to work with. This is our 5th visit to the DR in 2 years and we've always stayed at the Bahia Principe Esmeralda. Seven nights for 3 is $1500 in June. It is also our Christmas destination but a little more expensive during the holiday.
Now you have me intrigued for Grand Cayman. We've stopped there twice on cruises. The first time we did the swim with the dolphins there and the second time we just enjoyed the ship since we were on the Allure of the Seas and there was more than enough to do on it.
Interesting. Is it still not advisable to use Venmo towards the MSR on these cards? I'll probably err on the side of caution and make sure I meet my $7K on the SPG Biz through regular spend but would be good to know for future.DP that Venmo counts and earns points on Amex SPG and Delta cards: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/8axbaj/comment/dx2l9u7?st=JFSEDEEI&sh=1d712a8b
I had a boss in my old line of work who loved USair and hated the Southwest cattle call (as he called it). So when he traveled with me we'd have to take USair... The boarding would start and it would of course be Super Mega Platinum first , then Super Gold Elite, Silver, etc... Every time they called another boarding group the hoard of people would take one step closer to the gate agent . Finally they'd get to group 37 or something ridiculous(which included me) and it felt like Walmart on black Friday . Elbows thrown...body odor galore...personal space = 0 ...and then we get on the jet bridge and stand...and wait . Of course I'm exaggerating slightly with this story but I for one have learned to prefer the cattle call to the stampede .
I HATE this too! I guess I understand wanting to get space in the overhead bins, but seriously people. You aren't going to be allowed to board before your group is called, so just chill out. Especially with my kids, the less time they have to spend sitting & buckled into a seat, the better. When we've had one in a car seat on the plane, we had my wife board with our group to install the seat while I stayed back with the kids until the end of boarding. That way by the time the kid got on the plane, the seat was already installed and waiting for her to sit in it. So much easier than all of us getting on together and then blocking the aisle while DW tries to install the seat as fast as she can. Plus, less time that the kids need to sit in the airplane seat.THIS!! Currently SPG Gold and Platinum members earn 3 Starpoints per $1 spent; Preferred members earn 2 Starpoints per $1 spent. Convert these by 3x when transferring to Marriott points.

You are correct, even better!I'm not seeing it this way - I see @magickingdomprincess being < 5/24 in Oct 2018...are you sure you aren't counting one of those biz cards against the 5/24 by mistake...
I’d go for the CIP 80k ur then double dip the CSR and CSP. 100k. Or if you both can apply have one of you do the CIP get approved and then use the referral link and have the other apply that would give you 180k ur not including the spend. Remember to use a dischurner group for the first app.Just two chase cards in the last 24 months; one business and one personal southwest. I’ve got about $10k I need to pay, so looking to get the most out of it. I’m flexible in the rewards; I usually stick with Southwest or American Airlines, any major hotel brand, or AMEX membership rewards. If Chase URs are more lucrative, I’ll have to learn the program.
Not looking for an app-o-rama; just trying to get the most out of tax payments.
I’d do the CIP for the 80k and transfer points to swa as needed. If your DH changes his mind you could refer him for the CIP giving you 20k referral and 80k for him.I've been browsing this thread for the past few weeks trying to absorb everything!
We have always been a charge everything and pay the bill in full family, but always just used our Disney card.
In January I applied for the CSP and we've met the spend on that. Last month I referred my DH to the jetblue card earning myself a referral bonus of 5000 trueblue points and after 1k spend he has earned 40000 trueblue points. I love JetBlue and have had their card since 2007 and just downgraded mine to the no fee version since DH now has the $99 one.
I am currently at 2/24 since I added myself as an AU on DH's JetBlue card. All my other cards are many years old (been a Disney card holder since Day One)
DH has no interest in anymore credit cards so I am on my own. I want more though! I really want a Freedom for the 5% quarterly categories, but not sure if that is my best next move.
My next travel goal is a trip to Disneyland in October for my son's 4th birthday. We usually fly JetBlue or Southwest. I only have about 2700 southwest points currently, and will have about 60k in jetblue once our points post.
What should be my next card? I occasionally sell on ebay so I'm willing to try for a "business" card.
I had gotten the swa last March and then got the CIP in sept so I think you would be okay at the end of the year.I’m definitely interested for DH. If he got the CIP this June, how likely would it be that he’s approved for the SW Biz at the end of the year? I really want to get the CP again.
We sit on the dme 30 min every trip and have gone different times of the year and different arrival times. Seems like it doesn’t matter when we go or arrive it’s always a 30 min or more wait.I am so excited to get to Disney but we get off the plane, and always head straight to the bathroom. Then we stop at the food court for a snack (our flight is almost 4 hours...we're hungry!), then gotta snap a few pics with the Mickey outside the Earport and peek in just for a min, then make our way to DME so we can stand and wait to be let on the bus and then sit on the bus for 30 mins so they can fill every stinking seat before we leave. Maybe they only do that in the slowness of Sept but either way, it's irritating. Not sure where we sit on the plane really matters. In the end, typing all that just made me miss WDW really badly
Glad you got an on-site room. Pofq is our favorite before we have 5 in the family and joined Dvc. You can also take the boat to ds There’s also a live band playing most nightsOh and I'll be in the Orlando airport in two days. I just cannot wait to see the fountains, the Earport, feel the energy there...We don't get to go to the parks but get this, I decided to do one of those Hotwire Hotdeals (could NOT decide on an offsite hotel for just one night to save my life) so I decided to let Hotwire decide for me. I got POFQ! For $116 tax and all. Sorry if I already posted this here but I was shocked and I'm excited. It's only one night as we are in a different hotel each night but thrilled to just get be at Disney for a night.
Thanks, I will check out Bahia Principe! I was looking for somewhere I could book with IHG, Marriott, or SPG points this time since that's what I have to work with.
Not sure if you have children/how old they are, but Grand Cayman seems like a great spot for families with younger children. The blogger MommyPoints recently wrote several posts about her family's spring break trip there, which is what got me interested in it.
