I love credit cards so much!

I’m wondering if the $37.50 is a prorated refund of your first year AF, and a full credit hasn’t posted against the second year AF yet.

You husband may have gotten his CSR on 2/4/17, but his first year AF wouldn’t have been billed until the end of the first statement at the end of February or in March. As you said, the second year AF posted on 3/1/18. You should have 30 days from that date to cancel and get a refund of your second year AF. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/annual-fee-refund-rules-for-each-card-issuer/#Chase As you said, DH [edit] PCed his card on 2/21/18, so he was still in his first year’s AF (the last month of it, so $37.50 refund).

This was my thinking too and why I asked if they had actually paid the new AF yet...was thinking this was a small refund from year 1 AF.

I just got an email from Starbucks that just says "GOLD" and to watch my inbox next week. But nothing in my app.

I think your Stars are about a day behind mine. 300 Stars are enough for automatic Gold status, so if you weren’t Gold already maybe that’s a sign to expect the Stars soon?

@mhartman09 - this is the correct answer. I didn’t read your OP until Lain referenced the dates. Your second annual fee should never need to be paid. Have they not credited the $450 from March 1st yet?

I honestly wasn't even thinking that it could be from the first year's AF. I assumed he was out of his first year based on the date he was approved and didn't even consider the AF posting date. I'll look back at statements to see exactly when the first AF posted. I checked the current activity and there is no refund on the AF that posted on 03/01 yet, but at least this gives me hope there may be one. Haven't paid it yet. Next payment will post on 03/28.

I would call and insist they get that $450 credited. You have downgraded and they need to get it fixed :) I think it never should have shown in the first place so I’m worried something is messed up on their end.

Going to have DH call. I was surprised it posted at all because of the date he called to PC. Then when I saw it, I really assumed it would credit shortly after. Both the $450 AF and the $37.50 refund posted to the account on 03/01. Just didn' notice the credit until today.

30,000 SPG points posted to DW's account!

Now... do I go for another 30k "gift" to me?

So I can get 30k for me AND gift 30k to hubs?

I realize this is the last day. It is on my to-do list after I get the kids to bed. Dd2 decided to not nap today. Ugh.

Thanks. I bank with Chase and PNC. PNC does not charge a fee to exchange currency so i made an appointment with them to exchange some money before our trip.

Compare the exchange rate they quote you with this - xe.com. Its possible they are building their fees into the exchange rate.

Generally, I think you get the best rate at an airport ATM. I would get the max possible so that you can spread out the ATM fee.

I would love to visit that part of Canada. Have a great time!

Hello everyone.

WOW!!! It took me a while to read over what i had missed from last week. lol.... I could use some more help. This is for the people that have used CIP and Plastiq. Does plastiq need to be altered when using CIP to pay for the mortgage? I have PennyMac mortgage and was curious how this all works. I was able to use plastiq only once with my CSR before it was stopped. I have sold some stuff on ebay and craigslist so i could maybe get the CIP. Just wasn't sure if because its a visa that it would not work. i am currently 4/24. thanks

Yes, you can buy a maximum of 30k SPG points (2.1 cents/point, 30k points=$682.50) for yourself in a calendar year.

Yes, you can also buy a maximum of 30k SPG points for your husband (or anyone else) if he has been a SPG member for at least 14 days before receiving the Starpoints. You can later transfer the Starpoints points within your household for free.

If you're planning on buying SPG points as part of the 35% off sale, be sure to make your purchase before 11:59 PM ET 3/16/18. Also, use your Amex SPG card for 2x Starpoints, and TopCashBack or GivingAssistant if you use these shopping portals for some cash back.

Here are some helpful links:

If you're planning a trip to Hawaii, especially during the holidays, I was able to find some really great redemptions in Waikiki (in the ~3-4 cent/point range), since when you redeem Starpoints for Free Nights stays, you get the Fifth Night Free, and points cover taxes (but not resort fees). I imagine you could find similar deals for Maui. Thing about SPG is you have to have all the points in your account in order to book Free Nights.

If you are 4/24 and haven't applied for any other Chase cards in the last 30 days, you would be fine to apply for the CIP. If you haven't had a Chase card in even longer than 30 days, even better. If you have sold on CL and eBay, it sounds like you have a 'business' :)

For plastiq, all payments are currently coding 3x. However, mortgages are tricky. Visa and Amex do not allow mortgage payments and have blacklisted banks and mortgage companies. So people are trying to figure out ways to get payments through with 'creative' addressing of their payments. I would think there would be options for you to get yours through, and we are happy to help you brainstorm ways to do so.

I love samsung pay after i started to use it for freedom . You earn Samsung points which can be used for gift cards or discounts on samsung products. It easy to used and i have the nfc and payments turn on to allow tap and pay on the phone

I don't have a Samsung phone so I have no personal experience, but I thought I read that Samsung's been devaluing their points?

Just a heads up. Not sure if anyone on this thread was at the runDisney Princess Half Marathon weekend last month, but lots of chatter on the runDisney 2018 Princess DIS thread about Disney Chase Visas getting hacked for those who were at WDW that weekend. I haven't had a Disney Visa in years, but I know a lot on this tread do....

On of my cards was hacked at Boardwalk a bunch of years ago. I just stopped putting a card on the account after that. I think the charge it to your room thing is over hyped. I used to do it all the time and Disney never had my account up to date. Also, in the past I ended up with other peoples charges and then you have to spend the phone time. No card is easiest.

I had no idea they even had points until I signed up for the account. So if I get any it will still be a plus for me. I just like the idea of paying with my phone.
