Pop Century Room Renovations

Are there King rooms anymore or just 2 Queens? We'll be at Movies and I know they're doing the same layout.

Quick update. We are now at Pop Century. We had booked a preferred room and I had put in 2 requests via phone: #1 refurbished room #2 ground floor (easier for me with a scooter). Got both requests granted!! We are in the 70s section. It was a very long travel day for us, we are from Canada and it’s 1am here (2 am for us). Time for some zzzzz.

Glad it worked out for you! Thanks for the update. We are also arriving (in about a month) late, around 10:30, so it's good know we might still stand a chance also of getting our request. Our only one is a refurbished room!

I just wanted to update my thoughts on the new rooms and pop overall since this is our first stay here. First, this was our only day to sleep in and we haven’t heard any knocks yet from security for our check. We have the room occupied sign on the outside.

Some of the outlets in our room work off and on. They work one day and not the next which is strange.

A note about the bathroom: when we had the outside door closed you could hear everything but when both doors were closed we couldn’t hear the person in the bathroom.

My last thing is I love the new mattress! It’s so comfortable. I don’t like the pillows though because my head sinks right away making the pillow flat. That’s all for now!

I’ve been having a little trouble sleeping but that’s because I didn’t know my SIL would snore lol. Luckily dh had the brilliant idea to listen to a box fan on YouTube.

No. I just did mine and it did not.

No when you check in at the front desk they will ask you about that.

No this is done at the front desk while checking in. I have also heard of those who called once they were there but more common is asking at the desk on your first day.

When we were there at the end of January, we got in late and I didn't call until the next morning. They make up the cleaning schedule early, so I missed out on the 1st day $10 as they were scheduled for our room.

Worked out because they left a big bag of shampoo and soap and coffee that morning along with extra towels. More than enough. Mid-stay they installed the new pumps in the shower.

Also, a separate issue we had was the exterior door. It would lock in the sense that the door handle didn't turn, but the door didn't latch very easily. Really needed to pull it shut and listen for the click. The door was locked, but you could push it open without a key.

Our trip is not till September but we usually stay on our DVC points so we are use to no house keeping so a GC would be nice but we also like to go "direct to room" so I will try to call once we get to the room

No when you check in at the front desk they will ask you about that.

Yes, they then charge $10 to your room.

I do this out of habit too as I've experienced this in many different hotels and resorts.

Not quite. Our understanding is that currently 1 set of the PPV rooms (the ones in Building 5) are either reopened after being refurbished or, should be reopened any day now.

To the best of our knowledge the PPV rooms in Building 4 have not been closed yet and are still open in a pre-refurbished state.

This is all we know right now as we are waiting for someone who is there and has the time to check, to provide us with more current information.

A little stale info, but on Saturday, February 17, building 5 (including the preferred pool section) was sure looking like it was headed toward opening fairly soon. I was thinking since the curtains were hanging in the rooms (wrapped, but hanging), they must be getting pretty close.
