Quietest Deluxe or Moderate

Hi there! I'm wondering what resort and room type would be the quietest?

Disney is our relaxation time with lots of naps and sleeping late. We had issues at the Wilderness Lodge with boat noise but never had trouble with monorail noise in other hotels. Generally I'm hoping to avoid running and shouting in the halls, loud music, and repetitive noises like trucks backing up. Any thoughts on my best bet?

Thanks in advance!

I am a pretty light sleeper so I feel you! I've had a lot of luck with the Epcot resorts and AKL. I usually request an upper room that is quiet. HTH

The one with zero, or at least courteous neighbors. There is no one resort that is going to always be quieter than another. It all depends on other guests.

These are neighbor dependant, not resort dependant.

and repetitive noises like trucks backing up.

For this, stay away from Standard View rooms.

Savanna view - AKV. The animals rarely make noise! Pool and bus stop are on the other side of the building. The little golf carts that make noise at all hours of the day around the resorts don't drive on the savanna. While you may still get the occasional little kid that runs ahead of the family in the hallway - or the slightly noisy group upon their return at night chatting away loudly in the hallway - you don't get much of this.

We had problems at BC with other guests who were rude - allowing children to yell and run in the hallway, men talking loudly outside of our room late at night instead of going into their room, a child singing enthusiastically when they got back to their room just before midnight (cute - but I was really trying to sleep and It's A Small World after 11pm is just bad). We had no problems with YC, AK, Poly and Riverside but our preference these days is the Swan. So far it has been the quietest hotel and we love the alcove rooms.

My quietest experiences have been:

1) Garden suite at BWI
2) Cabin at Fort Wilderness (you don't share walls with anyone!)
3) one of the very last rooms at the end of a LONG hallway at AKL

My noisiest experience was in a standard room at POFQ.

But like DansDad said, it's more guest dependent than resort dependent.

Not technically a WDW Resort but the Four Seasons is very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Even out at the pool because the kids area is separate!

1) No rooms near/facing a pool area
2) Highest floor
3) I count elevator noise as a bother, so I like to be away from the elevators, and they are people magnets as well

I have to agree with @dansdad. It's the whole "hell is other people" thing. I had a room that was great was Gartner attendees (i.e., conference people) were my neighbor, and went downhill fast when a family who liked to SCREAM DOWN THE HALLWAY about sippy cups moved in.

Generally, because of the enclosed hallways, many Deluxes have a tendency to amplify noise.

If I were in your position, I would make my concerns regarding quiet time & sleeping in known upon arrival due to the implementation of "security" checks.

I Think it depends on your neighbors and your room location. If you have a pool room it will most likely be louder. We thought our room at POFQ was very quiet and it faced the parking lot. Our room at akl was right by the stairs and was absolutely horrible. We moved the next morning so we didn’t have to hear the fire door slamming all night again.

Only at WDW resorts, do DW and I, prefer to have our room open up to the outside (mods) then into a hallway and noise is one of the reasons. But, it really all depends on your neighbors.

What's a security check? You've got me nervous someone's going to show up in the room at nap time (1 to 2pm - 4pm).

See THIS thread for information. A lot of it hinges on if you don't want housekeeping and/or housekeeping hasn't cleaned your room yet when you return to your room. The hotel gets access to your room at least once a day in some form; if not housekeeping then a security check that entails a castmember doing a walkthrough of your room.

As much as I love the Beach Club, in all of my trips to WDW at different resorts.. we experienced the most noise at the BC. The past 2 trips, I either got woken up in the middle of night or really early in the morning. One morning on our last trip a child was having a full blown meltdown at 5am! It was so bad and so loud, we thought the family was right outside our rooms in the hallway but when I opened the door no one was there so it was coming from another room nearby. It was awful and went on for over an hour. In 2016, I had an adjoining door in my room and the guests in that room were packing up and leaving at 3am one morning and I heard everything, even them zipping up their luggage lol. I had to put towels under the door not only because of the noise, but because of the light coming through the crack. I have never had these issues at other resorts like Riverside or POFQ. Now that I am thinking about it, I am looking forward to being at POR for this years trip and not having indoor hallways.

We've always had great luck at POFQ and CBR with quiet rooms. We've always just happened to have first floor rooms that do not face the pools and have had no problems with mid-day naps or early bed times when our kids were smaller. I think the deluxes tend to be more noisy with the interior hallways, but that's just my opinion.
