Has anyone had anything stolen from your resort room?

Was she walking on the desk?

I had left the computer on the side of the bed between the wall and the bed (plugged in with my computer charger and iphone charger) and she didn't see it and she stepped on it while vacuuming- partially my fault of course for leaving it there

Nope, never. It is something I worry about, though. So, when DH wants to take along his $1600 laptop, I talk him out of it. It is too big for the safe, and I would worry about it getting taken. He doesn't actually need it. It's like a comfort item to him. LOL.

Very disappointedly, yes. Just once in over 40 trips. Entire family trip about 12 years ago. Two of us had connecting rooms and the connecting door wouldn’t shut right. We called for service and someone came up and was working on the door when we left. It was our first day and everyone was excited to get to the pool. My grandson left his game boy and his child’s wallet out. When we returned, his games were gone and his wallet emptied of money and Walmart gift card. So sorry said the front desk, claim it on your home owners. I happen to have the receipt in my wallet for the gift card and called Walmart’s. Someone had just been in and (stupidly..they should have used it all) used half the card at the closest Walmart. We cancelled the rest of it. I called security, told them I was getting the police involved since Walmart had camera proof, and was told since we have been such good patrons what would it take for us to let their security handle it. $200 covered the grands stuff and we never heard another thing.

That is sad, what kind of dirtbag steals from a child?

Yep. My C-PAP machine on the last day. It was check-out day and by the time I went back to get it, they already had me auto-checked out and claimed housekeeping never saw it. I know it was under the bedcovers which is why I missed it the first time.

BUT... even though I have had things stolen they have stepped up on other things , my daughter ( now 12 ) then 4 has a bear she still sleeps with .. she calls it “ daddy bear “ well she left it on the bed when we left one time and about halfway home we realized it wasn’t in the car and she was just hysterical, we were actually going to go back 3 hours but called and they had housekeeping track it down and overnight aired it to her ! We had it by the next day :)
Lol we laugh because the way we hunted down that bear they must have thought it had drugs stuffed in it she never lost it again .

Never at Disney in well over 200 nights. I do lock up cash/wallets and meds, and leave electronics in the drawers, but that's as far as I go.

I just had a pair of prescription sunglasses stolen from my room at the grand Floridian. While I was there they yes’d Me
To death to appease me and now that I’m not there they they said “Were not responsible because we don’t hire house keeping to Ben thieves..” I thought this is why we spend soo much money to stay on Disney Grounds?

Prescription sunglasses? Those are useless to almost anybody else. Did you look everywhere - drawers, shelves, under and around the beds and other furniture, inside shoes, in pockets, call Lost and Found? Did housekeepers by change your sheets and the sunglasses accidentally got bundled in?

By a quick glance, there is no difference between prescription and non-prescription sunglasses.

Nope, at least not that I've noticed. I don't usually bring anything of value with me, but have brought a laptop a couple times with no issues (out of necessity). I never use the safe, either.

It would be interesting to find out if there are more thefts reported at the Deluxe resorts or the Moderate/Value resorts. Any staff that are on the hunt for valuables would in theory be more likely to find them in the Deluxe resorts in comparson to the Value resorts. We as a general rule stay at the value resorts. We once forgot to lock the safe in the room at Pop with an Ipad, passports and hundreds of dollars in cash in the safe, and not a single thing went missing.

QuicI glance maybe not. Put them on, absolutely. Unless, entirely coincidentally, the alleged thief needs exactly the same lens prescription as the alleged victim.

I think that as hard as any hotel tries, humans will always be humans and bad apples are everywhere. If it becomes a habit I'm sure a pattern will be detected by Disney as each housekeeper must be being tracked when they card into a room. That being said, everyone seems be suspicious of housekeepers but I'm sure most of them take pride in their work.

Never in over 50 trips.

Edit: There was one time my mom was convinced someone stole a necklace but it turned out she had left it at home. Luckily she never reported it.

Never had anything stolen, but then again I never travel with anything of value. I carry a little cash and Disney gift cards with me at all times. We decline mouskeeping but now they have "security" checks daily.

I do recall reading articles in the news about people entering hotel rooms with sliding patio doors, on the first floor and things missing. However, the guests in the room were not locking their patio doors!

From their standpoint, any guest could claim they had something of value in their room "stolen". Unfortunately there are many dishonest people out there who would claim to have had $100/a game system/jewelry stolen just to get money from Disney.

If something was truly taken then you need to fill out a police report. Make it official. But even then, I'm not sure anything would come of it.

It’s the frames they are after in a lot of cases. Oakley. Maui Jim. Ray Ban. The frames alone are worth a couple of hundred dollars.

I doubt a thief is going to stick around long enough to try them on. My Ray Bans look very similar to my husband's ~ his are prescription, mine are not.
