Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

30 days until our first stay at Wilderness Lodge. We have a courtyard view queen + bunk bed booked. Looking at the room views on touring plans, does anyone know if the rooms ending in numbers 35-41 are slightly bigger than other rooms? (The room rectangles on the map look bigger but I didn't know if that mattered)
It is my understanding that all of the standard rooms are the same size, at 344 sq ft. Those rooms (x035-x041) are in a nice location, since they are right in the middle of the North wing, are fairly close to the elevators, and have balconies that face East towards Bay Lake. They exist on the 4th-6th floor, and on the 7th floor there is a large suite in this location. Another thing we've noticed is that the Bunk Bed rooms feel bigger because the bunks take up less floor space than the Queen. It makes the room feel nice and big. Have a great trip, it is almost here!

Hi All,

We are staying at BRV in a 1 bedroom in December (first time, although we've stayed at WL before in a regular room some years ago.) Can anyone confirm whether it's possible to get a view of the lake/Electrical Water Pageant from the rooms now? Pretty sure I had read somewhere on the boards that lots of trees were cleared during construction of the cabins and there may be a view now. If so, any tips on what I should request? I'm going to try a request through Touring Plans but I can't tell if it's better to go for the area that also overlooks the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool or the section of the building that's straight on towards the lake (hopefully that makes sense.) I know I should at least ask for a higher floor. Any advice would be appreciated!

I took this picture in March 2017 from the third floor hallway window of the Boulder Ridge Villas. This window is near the elevator.

Thanks Wood Nymph, that looks like where I want to be! I just looked in that area on the 5th floor on the Touring Plans site and they actually have a photo of the view of the water pageant at night (from room 5523) and it's perfect! Fingers crossed we get our requests, cause it doesn't look there are many 1 bedrooms on that side. We are going to check in early that morning also so hopefully we have a chance.

The regular WL standard view rooms face the MK and can have good fireworks view. But you said that you were booked at Copper Creek and those rooms face either the main courtyard or the new villas pool.

There is a paved walking path to Fort Wilderness that comes out right by the pony stables, next to Pioneer Hall. You pick up the walking path near the bus stop. The walk is about 20 minutes. The pathway is very dark at night, so you can only use it in the daylight. :)

Geyser Point is the bar and grill that opened last February. Is there another new one?
Did they close the unpacked nature path along the lake to FW?

Returning to WL! Our last stay was 2012, and there have been so many changes. We booked a standard view. Can someone tell me what are the standard view locations now? I heard there are no more woods views so are all the rooms on that side now standard view?
I’m so excited to be staying at WL again next August.

It is open once again. :) It was closed during construction.

Right now all of the rooms that face the MK are standard view. The woods view room category hasn't returned yet. I guess they need to add some more woods first. ;)

Hey Sue . Now that all the hotel rooms are north wing only there is courtyard or std so std any room not a courtyard. North wing is the side facing CR/MK . So really lots of options. Some will have a MK view and others the dumpsters.

I'm going back in January so I'll get ya pix.

Also did you know if available you can add cl for $99 a night to a std room ? I am going to try that.

No I didn’t know that!! I’ll have to text you.

I wonder if late Aug this will still be the case. Already thinking of my room requests lol.

Not sure how much I have updated but I think I may have posted that our resale DVC contract for BRV closed about 2 weeks ago. We were able to get our membership number and access our points this past Thursday.

We are now officially booked for June 3-June 7, 2018 at BRV.

It will be a mostly resort only only trip to really check out the Lodge. We did stay there this past June but it was a full 7 day park trip so we did not get to explore as much as we wanted to. We do plan to do one day at MK because, well, why not...but the rest of the time will be spending time at the resort, Disney Springs, checking out Top of the World Lounge duing HEA, Hoop Dee Doo, and Sanaa (my DH's fave and his personal request).

I will officially add your official dates, @ArielSRL.

Please remove me from the Log... Not any Military Discount for WL but I did get Beach Club... Will try for Christmas On our next visit!!!

Good that you found the military rate elsewhere, @goofynut41. Enjoy SAB!

Going to be at WL 11/3-11/5 and am wondering how the parking is nowadays. I was here first weekend in June and it was a disaster since they were finishing up the Copper Creek cabins. We had to valet because the construction workers were taking up the regular parking, but then move our car the next morning or else we'd be charged. Super inconvenient.

I'll log your dates, @sara_s.

Hello folks......well its time again to add my name to the Lodgers Log. My wife and I will be staying at the WL from Aug 21st through 26th 2018! :-) We originally had the Poly booked but a Standard room at the WL became available for far less (much, much, much less) and we took it. :D

So we're going back to WL....yay! I do have a question for all you WL folks. We have a standard room, in reviewing where those are located now. They all seem to be on the north side of the main building. When I look in the MDE there is no Woods view available. Does this mean those standard rooms, if up on the high floors may be "Theme Park" view? Hmmmmmo_O

Doug :goofy:

Congratulations on booking, @dkrauss! I'll add your dates:)

If someone could add me to the Lodgers Log as well. We booked our trip from 1/13-1/21 for our second visit and I honestly can't imagine staying anywhere else at this point.

I would be happy to add you, @figmentedfollies.

We'll be staying at the WL from April 9th-16th. Please add us. We sadly had to cancel our Polynesian stay with free dining and Halloween and HEA dessert party tickets due to Hurricane Irma. We cancelled two days before we were supposed to leave. We got a GREAT travel agent deal for April and are getting really excited for the Wilderness Lodge for the first time.

WL was meant to be! I'll log your dates, @daisydee43.

Excited to have just booked WL - standard view for August 23 - 30, 3018! This will be our 1st time staying here! Please add us to the Log! : ) Got a great deal for mom & I! Any tips on room location for standard view would be great!

We really like the high floor mid-wing rooms that were originally Standard view for great views of MK and a nice central location. It is likely that all of the non courtyard view rooms will be available to you with a Standard View reservation, which means you could get a room that opens to the lobby (but has a more obscured MK view) or is closer to the end of the hallway (meaning a slightly longer walk to the lobby). Overall though you can't go wrong at WL, so congratulations.

I heard the splash ground is not up and running? Can someone confirm this? Or state otherwise...thank you woulld be bummed if its not open wanted my son to enjoy it

I called last week and they said that there was nothing indicating it was closed (I also heard it was closed from someone on a FB group). I also did the help chat thing with the same results. The only thing I can think of is that maybe it's not marked as closed in the system? We'll be going soon and I'll post back if it's still closed.

I would check Humphrey's WL group, there's likely someone staying there right now that can give you the info. I had read on there last month that it was damaged in the hurricane but never saw any updates. Sometimes groups don't show up to my feed and I fall behind on info.

I’m still not sure what I think of this use. That building just seems so “in the way” to me now. :confused3

For those that have been since the bar closed and you have to go to Geyser Point to get a drink for the pool, is it much of an inconvenience?

It makes more sense to me in person than I thought it would. Geyser Point is more of a bar in a beautiful location than just a pool bar. While it is centrally located between the two pools, it is its own destination in the evening.

I never stayed at WL when it was open as a bar but I will say it has to be more inconvenient to go to Geyser Point. We did it in June. One time, we tried to wait for a waiter but that was a hot mess. After that we just would have one of us hit it up on the way to the pool and then run back over if we needed another. It isn't horrible though by any means. But we have too kids...6 and 3. The 3 yr old likes the splash pad but the 6 yr old likes the bigger pool, so when someone runs to the bar, usually my oldest has to come to the splash pad until the other adult is back by the pool.
