January/February 2018 discounts, who else is in?

I'm also from New England. We are going in mid January so will have our winter coats as we leave here. Hope to shed them pretty quickly upon arrival.

I hear ya! We will have our coats and such as we will need them for when we leave and arrive back. But has for needing to wear them down there I doubt we will need it. I’ll probably just be good with a warm sweatshirt for the evening/night time. I live in Massachusetts and handle the cold pretty well.

We went the third week of January
2017, and only had one day we needed a light jacket, but it was not cold by any means. We used to go in early May but my husband liked the weather so much we will return this January as well.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but this thread is huge! Why are certain deluxes like Poly such a low discount rate? Only 10%?! We go at this time every year and we've always had one of the biggest discount percentages staying at the Poly! I already have mine booked through a discount the TA has but sometimes I get a better deal through the Disney discount. Anyone know?

If the rooms for that time period are already booked they have no reason to discount them, the discounts are really to help sell empty rooms. I've gotten so used to being able to get a decent discount for all of our trips that it's impossible for me to pay the super high rack rate prices.

I think them giving rooms to Expedia, etc. have affected it a lot, along with the construction. They also have more contracts with agencies for blocks of rooms too. Poly and GF are popular for that in the Deluxe category. So I think that's why the discounts are less to nonexistent.

You can't double up.

Its either the visa offer or gift of magic. The visa offer just happens to be the same or similar to gift of magic except for a few resorts that have a better % off hence why people are reporting getting more off when switching to Visa offer. They are misreporting that its an additional discount. Its one or the other.

For example, GOM was 25% off at AKL & YC but Visa was 35% off.

Yes, I saw that too, then it disappeared . They must be working on updating the website , and updating the "look" .
Several times as I checked up on it this morning, I noticed it would be either the older current website "look" , and then sometimes it would be a "new" looking website that is more interactive with clickable buttons and stuff. (and even more confusing, lol)

"Newer Look" is live again ...........at least for the moment .
Reservations are still offline . Rack or with discounts , its all down !

Edit : back to the old look again. It just keeps flipping back and forth . I guess Disney IT will eventually keep the newer look once they can figure it out !

Yes, DVC availability is pretty slim for our dates in January too. We were lucky enough to score a Copper Creek studio with walk in shower for half of our trip . The other half, we scored the 35% off Disney Visa offer for Yacht Club . So 4 nights at CCV , and the other 4 nights at YC for us , looking forward to it !
Hope you can find some availability with that 35% off offer !

When we dropped a room, I never did see it show up as available (it was a standard room and they've been shown as unavailable). I don't think you can do a direct transfer too. Not sure if it's possible for the person to call and get it though.

Good to know, thanks! Was just hoping to help another Diser but sounds like that won't work.
