The answer to "When can I pull my next FP?"

I am at DL and have explained this about 873 times today (we are with a large group). I thought I'd make a post. There are three options:

1. The "general" rule is that soon as a FP window opens, you can pull a new one. If you pull a FP at 10:00 with a return window of 10:45-11:45, you can pull your next one at 10:45.

2. There is a maximum wait time of 90 minutes with Maxpass and 2 hours with regular FP. So if you pull a FP at 10:00 with a return time of 2:30-3:30, the "maximum" rule comes into play and you can pull a new one at 11:30 with MP or 12:00 with regular FP.

3. There is a minimum wait time of 30 minutes UNLESS you scan in and use the FP before that. So if you pull a FP at 10:00 and the return window is 10:15-11:15, you can pull a new one at 10:30 OR scan in at 10:15 and then immediately pull a new one. This is obviously most efficient with Maxpass, but we did it today with a runner using regular FP and it also worked.

*Note that there is a "5 minute early" grace period, so in option 1 above, you could scan in at 10:40 and then pull a new one, or for option 3, you could scan in at 10:10 and do the same thing.

**Also note that you can't hold two FP for the SAME ride simultaneously. You MAY scan the FP and then immediately pull another one for the same ride, though.

Happy line-skipping!

Thank you for this clear explanation. That was my understanding from piecing together other posts, but then someone would post a conflicting report and make me doubt the process. I'm so excited to get back to the parks next month!!!

The FP tickets are helpful to keep track of when you can get another................

#3 was not true in June when we went. Is it new with Maxpass?

Got a fast pass at 8 for GOG that opened at 8:10am, walked over to RSR to pull one for that before going on GOG.

They have made a number of small adjustments at different points this summer. There is now a 30-minute minimum, and additionally the first FP return times are 30 minutes after park opening (at least for the non-EMH park).

They definitely can be, but they don't let you know about option 3 above. I've also encountered a lot who are hesitant to pull FP for later in the day because they don't understand that there's a maximum wait. I just think that it's nice for people to understand where that time comes from. :-)

Honestly, THANK YOU, because I haven't used Maxpass yet and I was starting to get confused about the timelines and such. Bravo! :worship:

What are the rules if I cancel a MP? can I pull a new one right away? for example I'm waiting my 30 minutes and I saw a better time pop up for the same ride? What if I cancel one I made way earlier in the day, and I'm in the waiting period for a different MP I'm not cancelling?

By the time you did that the new "better" time would be gone. When others cancel their MP it is available for someone else to book, but those go fast.

fair, but maybe i decide i don't want to walk that far after all or something like that and i decide to cancel a FP. what are the rules for pulling a new one?

I don't know their arcane rules, but in my experience, it is better to let a FP expire than cancel it. It seems like if you let it expire, you can pull another one at the beginning of your FP time, but if you cancel it, they make you wait out the 2 hours. I'm sure they are fiddling with how it works all the time, so this is just how it worked for me earlier this year.

After you scan in at 810, you can pull another FP. But if you do not scan in, the wait is 30 mins, or in this case, 830.

If you cancel, you can immediately pull another one.

One other note about FPs: I believe that you're able to use them 8 minutes prior to or after your return/expiration time. For example, if you have a FP for Space Mountain with a return time of 10:30, you can actually scan it -- and get a green light -- at 10:22. That also means you can then grab another FP for another attraction. Further, an expiration time of 11:30 actually means 11:38. After that, you can throw yourself on the mercy of the CM manning the post. If you have a good reason as to why you're late, they'll often let you pass. If it's busy and they're in a bad mood because guests have been difficult, your chances of being accommodated will slip to around zero.

This post is from 2017 - there was briefly a period where there was no 30-minute minimum in the early summer of 2017. ‘Twas a glorious, but short-lived, time, which this poster was referencing. :charac2:
