Hurricane Irma?

I think you would be okay if you can move your flight up to an earlier time Saturday morning. I moved mine up just in case, but really think I would have been ok even if we took the later flight. But, if you don't mind paying for an extra night at a hotel, and it makes you less stressed, then I would go for it!

My flight IS the earliest flight on Saturday, leaving STL at 7am and arriving at MCO at 10:30am.

I know no one wants a hurricane to ruin their vacation but the models continue to show Irma slipping further south and into the Gulf of Mexico. We need to hope this does not happen Texas does not need another Harvey nor does NOLA. Lets hope Irma goes out to the Atlantic and does not touch land!!
One model shows that...all the rest have it going right up the middle of FL.

I just logged into SWA this morning and there is a yellow triangle by my departing flight on Saturday the 9th with that message of being able to change my flight at no additional cost. I am wondering if I should arrive on Friday the 8th instead? As I see it, my choices are add a day on the beginning of my trip or cancel. Currently my dates are September 9-13th. I don't know what to do.

We won't know more until tomorrow. You should be fine flying in Saturday. It likely won't rain near Orlando until Sunday afternoon

Called Disney and Hurricane Policy is in effect, they are not playing around with this storm. We are moving our trip into October or November as it is just not worth it to me to spend all this money and deal with rain and sitting in hotel with a storm of that magnitude.

Has anyone with Free Dining tried to cancel or reschedule their trip through Disney yet (or at least inquired with them for info)? Or have you in the past over hurricanes? I'm wondering how that works. We are scheduled to be there the 8th-20th, driving 9 hours one way. Thanks! :)

Already have Hurricane Policy in effect? Yikes.

Between the storm and the fires near Disneyland, this has not been a great week for the WDW resorts. Much worse for the people involved, but still.

If you're going, bring food and snacks. They'll have substanance food, but it'll come with long lines and frustrated people. Bring yourself enough to snack on -- or when you're at the parks, load up on that kind of stuff and bring it back to the resort. You'll be happy you did if things get bad.

Hello everyone I have a group of two families renting a house in davenport for two weeks starting September 8th do u think this will be safe to ride out?
Nobody can answer that question right now for two reasons:
Weather-wise nobody really knows if the storm will even reach this area, leave alone how bad it might be if it does.
Location-wise, "a house in davenport" doesn't really tell enough. Is it on a rise or a valley? Is it well constructed?

We have flown out of other airports in Fl (FLL, PBA, TPA) and have had a better experience with all of them. Now they want you to get to MCO 3 hours before your flight leaves and security is always very long.
I live here and fly in/out of MCO frequently. No way is it necessary to get there 3 hours before your flight. DME will pick you up that early, but you won't actually get tot he airport 3 hours ahead.

This is who I'm following for my weather updates. He got me through my first hurricanes in 2004. The margin of error is huge, until the northern turn, there's no way to be certain where it's going.

Interesting. This is the first person I've seen to describe the size of the storm...which he says is quite small. Hopefully that will be helpful wherever it does hit. The hurricane winds only extending 45 miles out. While I don;t want it to hit Florida, I don't want it slamming the beleaguered Gulf area either. Ugh.

Fires near DL? You mean the ones in Burbank? Haven't heard they had any affect on DL.

This is the 6th strongest hurricane on record in the Atlantic.

Sunday night/Monday is when rain and wind is anticipated. But still could very well turn East

So we are in a bit of a different spot than many of the people discussing it here. We are not scheduled to arrive in advance of Irma. Our main package does not begin until next Tuesday. We had planned to actually arrive the night before, but could easily dump that extra night with little to no impact to our plans. So what would folks here suggest for someone who is scheduled to be on the back end of this thing? Is it likely to be done and gone by Tuesday? Is it too soon to consider changing those plans? Or should we be going ahead and moving things?

Thanks.

I really hope dvc has it in effect as well. We can't reschedule vacation weeks but are going to try to swap to Disneyland! So here's to hoping I get my points back.

Sorry, didn't realize that. Personally, I think it will be fine, but what do I know? If you do fly out Friday night, at least you won't have to be up in the middle of the night to get to the airport!

Same here, we're scheduled for a Wednesday arrival, so I'd love to know thoughts on this as well! Thanks!

if the airport is open for us to arrive Saturday morning - we are there Saturday morning.

our other party comes in Monday night, if that doesn't work, they will come in Tuesday morning.

other then that we have our back up plans in set in case of anything.

We really cant afford to cancel anything and eat the cost so we will see what happens

TWC says the entire storm is the size of texas, with TS force winds currently extending out 140 miles and hurricane force winds extending out 45 miles.

I reached out to them this morning as well but they said all operations are running normal?

He keeps the hype out and sticks to the facts. I won't panic til he does. He says prepare for the worse, because someone IS getting the worse, and hope for the best. It's a very strong hurricane.

With forecast showing potential effects at Disney Sunday/Monday, would it be safe to assume Night of Joy would go on as scheduled Friday and Saturday?
