Cruise secrets that DCL doesn't tell you- Part 2

So do they still let you drop pillow cases off to guest services to be signed? if so is it 1 per cabin?

if you have young kids, look out for "friendship rocks" on the last day of the cruise. They get to go on stage and perform with Mickey and Minnie, and get a nice souvenir t-shirt. Super cute show to watch.
my DD did it and loved it!! She also got mickey and Minnie to sign her shirt!

What do you mean to watch for "friendship rocks?" Are there literally rocks placed around the ship and if you find one you get to be in the show? Or is that just the name of the show? Like friendship rocks as in friendship is awesome? And anyone can participate? Lol sorry if that seems like a really dumb question

its a show that they kids that choose to play in the labs can perform talking about how friendships are the best. Not a dumb question at all. the show is just for the kids to perform and the parents to watch!

My children especially my 5 yr old is a picky eater. On Embarkment day, we always head down to the MDR for lunch where we can get her favorite meal:Macaroni and Cheese and a Cheeseburger for lunch. My 5 yr old won't eat anything in the buffet so the staff bring her a plate filled with Mac n cheese.

They do have mac and cheese at the embarkation buffet. That is the first thing my DSs look forward to every cruise...mac and cheese and chicken fingers. ;)

The Aqua Duck might be closed for days at a time due to "high winds".

And I'm not talking about hurricane season or even bad weather. We cruised in mid-December, with warm, dry, calm weather, but as the Fantasy cruised on the first two sea days, it was windy on deck, and as a result the Aqua Duck was closed all that time (and those were sea days, when we were most in need of things to do). I've read from others' trip reports that our cruise was not abnormal in this regard. Our third sea day was less windy and the Aqua Duck stayed open, but for the first two sea days, it never opened at all.

So if your child is planning to ride the Aqua Duck every day, you might want to share some more realistic expectations prior to the cruise.

I also prefer to board after 1. We cruise in Jan/Feb so it's usually too chilly for the pool. I feel like there is a lot of waiting on that first day with boarding, rooms, sail away party, and life boat drill... My favorite part of the cruise is that first night when dinner starts and the kids club opens!

Hubby and I had Palo brunch reservations on day 2. He had his suit drycleaned on day 1 and it was ready to go by brunch the next day. It wasn't terribly expensive either.

Look for excursions with Character Experiences - it turned a good, fun event into a GREAT ONE! No lines for the character and they seemed to take more time with our kids than they do on the ship.

Where do they have character excursions?

We did one in Ketchikan Alaska. I didn't see it listed on the website before our booking window opened. I did see others for other ports, but those were sold out. I don't know what they do on other destinations.

In Cabanas on the Magic/Wonder (soon to be Cabanas) there is a staircase in the back on the port side that leads down to Deck 8 passenger cabins (from there there is also an aft stircase that leads down a few decks). These stairs are in addition to the regular aft stairs near the elevator lobby. So, if you are on decks 7 or 8 aft it is really easy to run up to Cabanas and back down. Remember to get a hand wipe at the regular entrance though.

MJ

Isn't it the starboard side ?
